    Default Question for Strippers

    Hi all,
I discovered this site several months back when traffic was being directed to my site from this site. So thanks to whoever pointed out my site I really need some advice/thoughts/wisdom/feelings and all that from the strippers here on this board. I’m an erotic/pin-up artist. You can see my art at How do you all feel about posing for this kind of work or do you strictly do stripping only? Several times I’ve thought about heading down to the clubs and attempting to hire a stripper to pose but had visions of just being taken as a wacko so thought bad idea. Posing for an artist like me would probably not pay as much as you get for that amount of time spent stripping and would take 2 to 5 hours or so to get all the reference shots needed to complete one work. I could only pay in the range of 25 to 45 per hour which I’m sure is less than you make per hour by a ton. I suppose it would have a bit of a payoff in other ways like having an artwork done of you if that’s something that’s of interest to you as well as providing another avenue of publicity. I would just really be grateful if you all could give me your thoughts on this. Am I barking up the wrong tree with my interest for painting strippers or is this a good idea that some strippers might be interested in?

it would be hard to make it happen...

Strippers are not models. We are sales people and money talks! Refernce shots really mean nothing.

I remember a guy coming in recently asking girls to model for his drawings. First, it was annoying that he was trying to recruit when I was trying to work. And while I'm 99% sure he was legit, the doubt I had wasn't mitigated by his offer of pictures in exchange for my time.

    this is a local story....

I'm a model as well as a stripper, so I have no problems with being hired to pose. I'v even had requests to use my photos as poses for art. I do a lot of TFP modeling, so making less per hour than I would on stage is quite ok! It really depends on the girl. Some girls would love to become art, so taking a pay cut is ok.

Becoming art is an honor, at least to me.

I'm with Paige on this one. All the avitars and pics I've posted in the galleries are all the results of TFP work.

Eric, just wanted to let you know that I have known about your work for a few years and I love it!! I am not in the shape to pose or near your area, but wanted to express my admiration for your work..if I get out that way (we are thinking about moving) I will get in contact (only have about 5 lbs more to lose & firm up) Money is not a huge issue for me. However, girls who are working will prob. be harder to convince, unless they really like art or you can flatter them into it.I agree, it's an honor to be immortalized in art. Good luck!

From my experience, you will get a better response if you say you are an entomologist than if you tell people of any sex or position in a stripclub you are an artist.

Your work is unquestionably superior, but they don't know that.

I have had a sizeable minority of dancers who have hung out with me at my place and seen my drawings express an interest in posing or being drawn. But I long ago gave up talking about it in the clubs, except perhaps casually mentioning I am an artist as well as a DJ.

If there were more out there like Colleen or Paige, it might be different...

In the average dancer's defense, though--not only have they heard every kind of hustle and come on imagineable, so understandably have developed a healthy skepticism(if frustrating to genuine artists perhaps), but they have possibly run into some of the really BAD artists out there, much more numerous than people like yourself.

There was a guy in the club I work in a few years back, and another in another club, too, who kept bugging the girls to pose for him, and one of them was trying to get dances for his work. These guys sucked, lol...not helping the cause by a long shot!

Not really, at least not in my own experience. Any time someone with a sketchbook has walked into the bars I've worked at, dancers would just flock over and coo and beg to be drawn. I dont think a TON of dancers have had exposure to artists, but its hard to make the assumption that most dancers, in general, would do it or not. I cant say I've traveled around the world and done a survey to give a solid answer... all I know is what goes on im my own lil part of the world.

Oh fudge, I collect stripper pics. Like Blaze Starr and Tempest Storm. There's some historic pictures that have gone down in the annals of burlesque history. Here's a site if anyone is interested and of course it is NOT a plug, just a point of reference. Plus DJ is right.. I've had guys come into my club and say they were from Vivid video, but they just cant produce a business card or any other bit of anything that would validate their story. Ah well..

Especially if you talk to me. I babbled about roaches for about ten minutes to one of my customers a couple of days ago. Anyone who can babble bugs back would have me swooning all over him.

I myself am an artist so I think being asked to pose is a great honor. I'd do it for you just because we share an interest and I'd be flattered. But I think for the most part dancers are about the money not the honor of art. You just need to find girls like Paige, Colleen and I...

Yeah, and good luck with that -- I've posed for photographers, but even if someone walked into the club with the most amazing artwork and told me he must have me as a model, I would be thinking, "What's up with this guy, and why can't he get models through the standard channels?" Your chances aren't great.

BUT--if you contacted me via OMP or my website, I would think, "Awesome portfolio--I wonder if I'm hot enough to model for him?" You shouldn't have a problem finding models (or dancers willing to model) online at all. Best of luck to you.

I've modeled for artists and/or photographers before. Many moons ago, but still. One did a fabulous charcoal pencil drawing. It was awesome. I traded him that drawing for an indian choker that I had made of hair pipe ... unfortunately ... that drawing ended up in the hands of the wrong man who destroyed it along with many other things.

Thanks so much for all the input!!! It's very much appreciated. My thinking that it was a bad idea to approach strippers at the club was confirmed and I totally understand. Best to stick to my normal routine :-) I don't have a huge desire to be taken for a serial weirdo lol. But for the record, the times I’ve been to clubs I usually end up thinking the girls would be awesome to paint. You girls are gorgeous!

Alot of costumers, artists, art teachers and the like offten post flyers in the club where I work.I would make up a few flyers and take them to all the clubs in town and ask them to put them up in the dressing room. That way you just get the girls who are interested and you aren't bothering any of the ones who aren't.
