    Breast Reduction Surgery! Ahh!

My breasts are EXTREMLY large and very heavy. They are a 36 DDD. My big problem with them is that they sag and I have grooves in my shoulders because they're so heavy. Oh yeah, and MAJOR back problems too! I want to get them reduced to a D.

Anyways, here's my question....I'm 5'4" and 160. I want to get down to a fit 135 before my surgery. (It's about 2 months away). I also wanted to suprise my boyfriend when I go back home! (I'm living with my mom in Missouri so that the insurance will pay for it).

I don't exercise at all, except for my physical therapy. I do have a treadmill. I was thinking about buying The Firm DVD's. I have Windsor Pilates, I was going to do that too. Has anyone ever tried them? I was also going to take Trim Spa and Tonalin CLA (Sounds great from what I've read on here!). I LOVE the Atkin's Diet. I lose weight really fast when I do it, most of the fat from my stomach. Anyways...what do you guys think, can I reach my goal?

You sound like a really good candidate for Curves. People make fun of me but I've been going there for nearly 10 years and really enjoy it. But it sounds like anything you do you are going to loose weight ! do you have a dog ? I love walking mine and it's great excercise.
    Good luck !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I'm the avid dieter....I used to have an eating disorder when I was younger, so I learned alot about nutrition when I was in recovery. I've heard of curves, but I can't afford it right now, I'm not working and I'm in school for the summer.

I have a cute litte pitt bull, but she is too young for a leash and really stubborn!

I guess I'll use this as my motivation...with people watching what you do, it helps you keep on your toes!

At your weight you'd proabbly burn about 100 calories for every mile you walk or run...
Build yourself up to 5 miles in the a.m. ( should take 1.5 hrs walking) and another at night...You can kill an easy 1000 calories daily doing this. Or break it up into 3 sets of 3.3 miles

I'm not a big fan of the atkins diet. Eventually you'll start eating carbs again and you'll have to find a whole new diet to keep the weight off. If you just cut your portions down and switch out one "bad food" a week-- ice cream for fat free sherbert, whole milk for soy, homeade chocochicp cokies for animal crackers-- you'll be on the road to a healthy new lifestyle instead of a quick fix. It shouldn't take you longer to lose the weight either.

Pilates is great for shaping the waistline.

Wow! Thanks for the advice! I'll try to do that, but 5 miles seems like alot...how much time would it take?

I'm really worried about scars! I know alot of girls that had this surgon, they say they don't have a very visible scar. I hope he does a good job on me! I really want perky boobs! Once I loose weight and have my boobs done, i'm going to be set to start my dancing career....well I hope so at least. I've never done it before, but I think I would love it. I wonder if Carmen Electra's Striptease really teaches you how to dance?

I would do a search for scars on a plastic surgery site.Everyone I know has visable scars, doesn't seem to matter if they were young(19) when they had it done or older(over 50)I have no obvious scar around my nipples, the vertical scar is not to bad, makeup would hide it,it's the under boob scar that bothers me. They are about 6" long along the lower part of my boobs.

Jacqueline - The most common way to do a breast reduction invovles maybe a "lollipop" incision around the areola and then vertically down the breast. This method of revising the breast around a pedicle will always leave a scar. Trust me, as a physician I have seen many reductions, and there is always a scar. HOWEVER, there are some plastic surgeons who can do a liposuction technique for breast reduction. The benefit is minimal scarring and generally excellent results. The downside is that not as much volume can be removed and the breast cannot be "lifted" when there is drooping.

I wish you luck with any procedure you choose. I notice that you are located in Houston which is a huge benefit to you since Texas Medical Center is in your backyard. Much of the literature online about liposuction breast reduction is published by a physician from University of Texas.... Dr. Geoffery Robb. It appears that he is the chairman of the dept of plastic surgery down there in Houston. Might be worth calling him or one of his associates for a consultation.

I'm going to look him up! I wonder if they can do it a different way so that they can be perky and not have a bad scar. Can't they do laser scar removal or something?

Scars are not easy to remove..... if they were, there wouldn't be so many different ways to do scar minimizing operations including scar minimizing breast augmentations.

If you want your breasts lifted, the liposuction technique is probably not for you. You will have scars, but they will be lifted. Maybe in the future there will be new techniques.

Jacqueline..... don't get discouraged! Go contact a good plastic surgeon and have a consultation. See what he/she has to say. Remember, I'm a doctor, but I am the furthest thing from a plastic surgeon There may be some new technique out there that suits you.

Well, maybe you could have your breasts lipoed and then slightly lifted using the Benelli technique. The Benelli makes the incision around your areola only, and excess skin is removed. Your areolas can be made smaller as well. I had my areolas reduced and yes, I do have a scar, but it was very worth it. I traded in the larger areolas for a scar. I'm having my areolas redone to make them a little bit smaller--I'm going in for my second operation (and I am sure it will be my last for this) on them this week.

I used to be your weight with the exact same breast size. I'm now 135, and they've reduced to 36D on their own. If you lose enough weight, eventually your boobs will shrink too. I think one size smaller is an attainable goal to reach without surgery. Of course, the sag will not be affected, and depending on your genes may be worse. I lost my weight by exercizing (cardio every day, weights 3X week) in the morning before breakfast, and another cardio workout before dinner. I drank green tea with splenda 2 or 3 times a day, and changed my diets at least 5 times. The difference between me yo-yoing like in the past and succeeding, was when I cheated, I reminded myself of my long-term goal and that I could still finish the day good.

I've lost weight, and they don't seem to get any smaller. I'm going to try to lose some more before the surgery. I'm in my last week of physical therapy, and I get to go see the doctor soon.
