Default Fabric/sewing queens, (or chem geeks) I need help

I just ripped out the hooks and eyes from a corset top and replaced them with a zipper so I can wear it at work. Problem is, the top is white and the club is full of blacklights. I fear the zipper is going to glow like a motherfucker and not be matched to the shade of the corset. Now, I'm feeling pretty silly about worrying about this, since we're talking about a club with a jukebox here, but hey, I still want to match. Do any of you have any idea if there's something you can do to fabric so it won't glow? If your idea works I will stripperize your corset tops/bustiers in gratitude.

Im feeling really in touch with my feminine side because i know the answer to this, and a possible solution.

    No i dont cut hair.

    The answer is,no.
    Its not possible to match.
Different material, different grade of that material(thread counts etc)and different dye lots.
    Just wont work imo.

    Solution...

    Is it a solid color?
    whats the highlight color?
say white over black etc or red over white etc.

Go with a zipper that matches the highlight color.

you aint never gonna be able to match whites under a blacklight!!!

Its a shame really, the hooks add so much to it,but way to much of a bitch to get off on stage,or back on to get off stage.

Thats why you can never get the same shade of black.. different dyes, thread counts.. Like he said!

hmmm.. speaking of corsets, i almost bought one yesterday but had a prob getting in and out of it B/C of the hooks and thought i would have to go to extreme lengths to fix it.

why dont you just buy a zip thats slightly off white.

is the corset completely white??? and doesnt the corset glow anyway under the black lights so wouldnt you want the zip to glow too??? if you do then just a plain white zip should do the trick and as long as your not putting an industrial size one in (like over 1cm wide when zipped up) if the whites dont glow exactly the same you wont notice.

lol im such a bitch<<hangs head in shame>

    In my defense,im outnumbered!!!!

Hey maybe this is another idea about the hooks....
Can you use velcro tabs instead of the hook??Maybe like 1 inch longx1/4 inch wide??

It should sew right into where the hooks come out with no problem cause the hook stubs/anchors that hold it in are that wide right??

Wont solve the matching issue, but could help wit the on-2-off,off-2-on problem.

I don't think Velcro would do it, b/c the corset fits so tight and the velcro would not be secure enough. With a regualr garment, yes, but not a corset.

Susan, please do tell how you did this! I have a corset I would LOVE to wear on stage, but I can't cope with the hooks!

All you do is take the hooks out and replace them with a zipper. I have 4 that I have done it with.

    Yup, it is really easy.

Well, no worries, the zipper and the fabric glowed the same, so it is a moot point.

A suggestion other then zippers would be to use a gromit strap (snappy buttons)
it holds in great and avoids that painful zipping of oneself that happens occasionally!
