This is actually a pretty good thread IMO. A couple of the comments were dangerously close to personal attacks but it is a topic that can rile up posters, both dancers and customers. I'd like to keep it open both from a general and personal perspective as long as everyone behaves.

Customers often leave clubs or even strip clubbing altogether, disillusioned and feeling empty. The fact that they should "know better" is beside the point. May I site a personal experience? I started clubbing back in the late '90's. I was travelling a lot to Indianapolis on business and wound up visiting some clubs at the invitation of business associates. Long story short, I got way too involved with a dancer I met there. I spent a ton of money on her...probably $20K over the course of about a year or so. She was good at what she did and I was a very very willing participate ITC and OTC (details are in the archives on the Blue Site just as a side note). Things finally crashed and burned and I wound up being the epitomy of disillusioned. It took a 9 month hiatus to at least semi get my shit back together. It was a tough lesson learned (fortunately I could afford it) but ultimately I'm better off because I now better understand the fantasy and the dancers I associate with don't have to deal with a guy going over the edge.

Sorry about being long winded but every once in a while a topic hits close to home.

I've learned that men are alot more complicated than they let on .

I've learned that alot more men than I had ever imagined have low self esteem.

I've learned that the male ego is alot more delicate than a womans in many ways. This was probably the biggest surprise for me.

I've learned that men will often stew and pout. That was something I never saw before working in the clubs. LOL !

Dancing has made me like less men in general, but like the ones I do , alot more.

Dancing has made me appreciate a "good" guy alot more and be less attracted to the the "bad boy" types. Alot less.

Amen Big Daddy, Amen. I love men, on toast, in my coffee, on Saturday nights when I'm horny. I think someone might've had a bad experience or is just trying to rile some poo up. Too bad, I'm not playing.

Sounds like someone's projecting their own insecurities on others. And you say we're the ones in need of therapy?

Now, I'm prone to PLdom on occasion myself (just recently got played by a stripper--first time in a long, long while) but it was short and relatively painless, and you just accept being a PL sometimes as part of the hobby--it's a recreational hazard.

As for problems with women in "real life," I'll be discreet and just say that the dancers I've had the pleasure of knowing OTC have been more real than 95% of the civilian women I've spent time with in the last ten years. Strippers are some of my favorite people, including some on this site.

You can have your sour grapes, Bystander; I'll keep my seat at the club.

Idealism is fine, but as it approaches reality, the costs become prohibitive.

    ^ Exactly.

Dancers are the thoroughbreds of the species. Either you have the confidence, experience and sophistication to handle that, or you don't.

Okay, so now that we've seen the opposite end of the spectrum of comments/opinions about dancers, which is equally as absurd and exaggerated as the "dancers are dysfunctional" jazz ...

I agree with the other posters. The world is what it is and the people involved are much the same as people everywhere. There's very little need for demonizing the women that work there, just as there's little use for pedestals.

I'd argue that the boys in the NFL are thoroughbreds, too. Same with some unusually gifted self-made millionaires and the dominant alpha males that combine physical magnetism with an overwhelming intellect.

Pedestal? Nah. Just calling them as I see them.

I agree with Jay.People from all walks of life have problems. You just hear about it a lot more at strip clubs because we are able to talk more in depth than most other jobs.I mean, the guy at Subway can't say,"My girlfriend left me yesterday and my rent is late.So what else would you like on your sandwich???"

I dunno, OTB, by the time I got my grilled chicken sub the other day, the sandwich artist asked me to help out with her car repairs.

What species? Women? Sex workers? Entertainers? ...

Fwiiw, I tend to agree with JZ on this one. Or, put slightly differently, I think that generalization that "dancers are just like other women and people, no better or worse" is closer to being correct than the generalization that "dancers are a group of very unusual and special people" (in either a good or bad way)...although there is some truth to both I suppose.

Guys who have a negative image about SC's are the ones who are constantly looking for a girlfriend in these clubs. If it's been said once or a thousand times, it needs to be said again. STOP LOOKING FOR A GIRLFRIEND, ITS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You may find, after a time, that there is more pleasure in the wanting than in the having. It is not logical, but it is often true.

We should all be thankful for the opportunity to chase (look), but not catch.

Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!"

More men (and women who never have been) need to understand the mechanics of a strip club.

It is a business. As far as drink prices being a little higher than a restaurant or a corner bar, in the bar business drink prices are higher in establishments that provide entertainment. A drink costs more in a nightclub too, doesn't it? You don't expect to pay the same price for beer or liquor in a nightclub as you would at Wal Mart, do you?

Strip clubs are places for a guy to go just to "kick it" for an hour or so, have maybe 2 drinks, and buy a handful of dances (depending on his budget).

We all know guys have more different sexual desires than women do, but to become bitter at the strip club scene is displaced anxiety.

Dancers look at virtually all guys in the club as potential customers. This is a career and our means of income.

Of course most of us look more appealing in the club than the average woman on the street, especially nowadays when women are dressed down more than they are dressed up, but reason tells you that virtually none of us are going to look at you the way you look at us right?

That is not to say that romance cannot be found in a strip club. But when you are looking for love instead of letting love find you, disaster is almost always the result. A guys looks and age play a role here too. A guy who is 50 years old, overweight and bald should know that he is not appealing to the average dancer who is twentysomething years old, right? A guy who is attractive and 30 years old if he is not looking for love may have it drop in his lap in a club at some point, but not if he is seeking it from every dancer who smiles at him and is friendly.

My whole point is, going in a strip club and feeling every dancer who turns you on and is nice could turn out to be girlfriend material is the kiss of death. A guy with some game can tell if a girl genuinely likes him, or if he is just a source of income. A dancer who really likes a customer and where an immediate connection or bond has formed won't try to sell the guy dances anymore on the second visit, and will come and sit with him when it is slow. If a girl still tries to sell you every time you come in the club, SHE IS NOT INTERESTED. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!

If you go to Phoenix or Las Vegas in the summer with only flannel shirts and turtlenecks and complain how miserably hot it is, who is the fool here? You knew it was hot before you went.

Go to a strip club ONLY when you are in the mood to be entertained ,and see it as just entertainment. Don't feel ripped off. You are seeing above average looking girls either topless or nude, enjoying a drink, listening to music, and enjoying some stimulating dances, all of which you would not get at home or in your motel room.

Don't go to a strip club looking for a girlfriend anymore than you wouldn't do that when you go to the mall or grocery store and all is good, right?

Wait a sec... sure, you should not be thinking of the dancers you meet at the sc as potential girlfriends, but now you are telling me I shouldn't think of the women I meet at the mall or the grocery store as potential girlfriends either?

So how am I supposed to meet someone? Hope we get into a traffic accident? lol
