    Liposuction Anyone???

i have heard that liposuction will NOT improve the look of cellulite, in fact, it can actually make you look WORSE than before because it actually creates indentations where it has removed fatty tissue and then it causes SCAR tissue....
i have never met anyone who has had lipo so i have never seen it for myself... anyone have the "skinny" on pros and cons of lipo?
    what is the honest truth????

Okay by indentions and scar tissue do you mean something like this:

    http://www.awfulplasticsurgery.com/archives/006245.html

I had lipo back in 2002 on my thighs (inner and outer) and my torso. It completely got rid of my saddle bags or what I considered saddle bags. But I didn't really have any extreme cellulite, maybe a tiny bit but it was smoothed out. Now with regards to the indentions and scar tissue, from what I've seen and asked others this can happen even with areas with no cellulite, why it happens is from the canula (spelling) the actual instrument going in and out any damage from that due to the wrong type of canula being used and the technique of the surgeon and too much taken out.

I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

I thought that effect was from TOO MUCH fat being sucked out. You can't just suck out the fat indiscriminately. Isn't there like a certain ratio of fat to body weight or something that can be taken out?

    What happened to plasticsdoc?

    Re: Liposuction Anyone???

i just dont trust doctors! and im a nurse too!
they are trying to sell their services and i dont think they really understand it has to be perfect... i dont wanna hear "there is always the possibility....." i KNOW...

im hoping that lipo has come a long way and the cannula scarring and such is a thing of the past...
i hate to nitpick myself but i have a few stubborn areas that i have pretty much given up hope on! i always hit a plateau where i start losing breast fat instead of belly and hip fat!
fact is we can "shrink" fat cells with diet and exercise but you cant get RID of them without lipo... and they just fill up again as soon as you slip up... i really dont have much to lose, but this is about as close as i can get without help...
im very lucky to have come this far without stretch marks and very little cellulite.. im just trying to decide if it is worth risking what i have for what i want... or if i should quit trying to play god...

I've considered lipo a lot, mainly on my outer thighs, and it's not cheap...so I'm still considering! I think if you do it within reason you won't end up with tons of cellulite but I don't have firsthand knowledge.

And yeah, I have very little trust in most doctors. I've dated a couple and they can be pretty fucking scary, drinking on-call, telling me shit like they won't give me any STD's cuz they'd know that they had one for reasons that are b.s. I hate going to the doctor.

Adrenaline, I didn't mean to say ALL docs are like that! My best friend's little brother is a second year med student and I don't think he'd ever be that way. When I date I just seem to pick the winners no matter what type of man I date so I found the worst doctors... But I actually have a few doctors I see (as a patient) that are wonderful. If I do get lipo I am going to a doctor that I really like who did my boss's boobs and they look awesome! She has had no trouble with them in 4 years and loves them.

Well, I'm going in for lipo NEXT WEEK! I'm getting my belly and flanks done using the Vaser technique.

This technique melts the fat first and then aspirates it, making it easier to remove fat without having to use the aggressive back-and-forth motions used in the traditional tumescent technique. It is supposed to be more gentle and more selective in the removal of fat--in fact, it's called LipoSelection instead of liposuction. Since the procedure is not as aggressive as traditional tumescent liposuction, healing time, bruising, swelling, etc. is supposedly cut down.

I have read, also, that liposuction DOES NOT remove cellulite. I am not quite sure if it can be improved, either. Your skin actually can look worse after lipo IF you gain an excessive amount of weight; your skin could end up getting lumpy and dimply in the areas that have been lipoed.

    Thumbs up Re: Liposuction Anyone???

    hooray exotica!!!!!
please keep us posted on how everything goes and im sure we will all be supporting you!!!
i love the idea of the Vaser technique and im all for the "more gentle" approach... after having laproscopic surgery (twice!) i can definitely say that just because the incisions are tiny doesnt mean the tissue trauma is "minimal"!!!
and i know lipo wont really improve the appearance of cellulite, i was really more interested in reducing the amount of fatty tissue without CAUSING a dimpled, "cellulite"-type appearance....
oh well, i'll just wait and do more research....

Well, I had my lipo. I went under general anestesia, and the procedure went well. I am now 5 days post op. I've got bruising and swelling, sometimes stiffness, and I've got some pain. But I have been up and moving around quite a bit. I had my abs and flanks done. I still have a pooch from the swelling and layers of cotton dressing under my garment. It will take a little while before I see maximum results--like about 6 months. I'm gonna be returning to work in a month and I will be wearing a corset. I took the plunge and ordered a custom made one.

Sooo...hopefully I won't have to suck in my belly anymore in order to avoid looking like I'm 3 months pregnant! I will keep you guys posted.

The picture of Tara Reid is just how one of my fellow dancer's stomach looks. It caught my eye for a long time until a customer told me she had lipo on her stomach, she also had fat injections put in her butt(?) She has 2 scars on both sides of her butt, so it was either lipo, or fat injections (which I didn't know people did). The girl has everything done though, lips, eyebrow lift, hair extensions, fake nails, probably fake toenails, she makes great money though.

My physician friend decided to start a family clinic in Bastrop, a small town outside of Austin. His business is doing fantastic too.

More doctors will move to rural areas as sprawl continues and families move to smaller areas and commute to the city for work.

Ok, back on topic. I want lipo too, but that's because I am very lazy..........

Ha ha--I feel kind of guilty because I sometimes think that maybe I got lipoed out of laziness, too. But the truth is, I tried the diet and exercise thing and it didn't work for me (on my Dad's side, the weight goes straight to the bellies and everything else stays thin). I am an ideal weight, but my belly pooches a lot. I had to get rid of it somehow because nothing else worked. Just one week before my surgery, I had an aquaintance ask if I was pregnant--so I know that the belly was not my imagination. I told everyone at work about the surgery, and 99.9% said I had nothing to lipo! That's because I kept my belly sucked in. I still have doubts and fears about the outcome and wonder if it was all a waste of money and pain and time. But I think I will be fine, I hope. I hope I don't end up like Tara Reid or the girl from showgirlschloe's job.

Well, if too much fat is removed, then your skin can end up uneven and dimply. And again, if you gain too much weight, then your skin can end up uneven and dimply. I think lipo has come a long way, as you were hoping, especially with the Vaser. You don't get as beat up with the Vaser as you would with other techniques. I am one week post op today, and I only have a few bruises on my belly.

The key is to find a surgeon who knows what they are doing--they will know the right amount of fat to remove from your particular body (again, having too much removed can cause the dimpling), and to have realistic expectations. It sounds like you do. Liposuction is all about contouring and getting rid of excess pockets of fat. The Vaser technique may even help improve skin retraction. My doc said that it will help my belly skin look better (I had a baby and I had a little bit of skin laxation). So, I'll see. I'm hoping....

    Good luck, rapunzel.

I did liposuction... DON'T DO IT PLZ!!!

Well it depends how much fat they have to take away from you... from me they took only 1.8Kg (I think 3.5lbs) really not necessary. I had 6 zones lipo (belly above navel/belly under navel/ waist/hips/ leg outside/ leg inside) and totale only 1.8kg... If they would tell me before I would surely go more often to the gym in stead of getting operated!

Anyway I did in Belgium, new methology: they take away your fat and they replace it immediatly with some watery solution which you will lose in the following 15 days- 6 months. The first week after the operation I was more fat than before, I was so fat as I never could imagine myself (because of swollowing). After 15 days I start to lose this watery solution and after 2 months it was completely gone. In this way your skin has the time to adapt itself to the new forms of your body, which it means no stripes and no hanging skin... for this reason I found this methology gr8... if you really must get liposucted choose this plz!

I still have scars where they put the machine inside (14 scars, 6 of them still very marked)... but it happened some months ago so... it takes 1/ 1.5 year before they really start to go away... I hope

That's where I did it: www.linea-aesthetica.com , it's in Belgium, it's very cheap and they have one of the best technology in Europe for lipo. It's good ONLY for lipo, don't do boobs there plz!

I'm still considering lipo. My trainer seems to think she can get me where I want without it but we'll see. I've NEVER been able to lose my thighs and they are too big for the rest of my body.

I wanted a super flat belly... the problem was that there was not that much fat to take away there... depends if yours is real fat... with me it wasn't so they were not able to take out that much and I was very disappointed.
You can try but don't expect big changes ... exept you have a lot of fat, like 15-20 lbs overweight, you will not see any big change.

Hey, Lunetta, how much fat did they remove in mL's? The only thing that will give you a super flat belly is a tummy tuck. The success of liposuction is not measured by how much fat is taken out, but how much is left behind. Taking too much fat can leave a lumpy belly, and you can go into shock, too. We absolutely must have some fat left behind. I saw some of your pics and you are GEORGEOUS! If I were you, I would stop while I'm ahead.

    Hey exotica!
They took away 1.8 kg total from the 6 zones and 1 Kg=1 liter. I know what you mean, they told me about this fat which must stay... if they take too much away your body will loose shape ... the doctor was honest from the begin and he advice me not to do, but I did anyway expecting a big change... in fact I was disappointed!!!
What is a tummy tuck? Never heard of! Maybe they don't do here . Can you tell me more or less what it is and how much $?
About my body I'm not happy anymore... before I was very skinny and now after all this champagne drinking I took so much weight... it's amaizing... you can also do not eat all day, everyday and drink champagne 2-3 days a week and still get fat . I throw it away as much as I can but some seaps at least you must drink. In Europe it's always like that, always drink this shit champagne in the clubs I get sick of it!

    Lunetta,

A tummy tuck is when they tighten the muscles of the abdomen and get rid of loose skin on the belly. This surgery is for women who have very laxed ab muscles or lots of extra skin from extreme weightloss or pregnancy. The surgery can leave a very long scar across your hip bones, and a belly button must be reconstructed for you. There is a such thing as a mini-tummy tuck, too--it's a full tummy tuck with less scarring, etc. I think a doctor would be crazy to try to do a tummy tuck on you! In the US, this procedure costs about $6000 maybe--I don't know--I don't know that much about tummy tucks. I had 1L taken out, too--that's a lot of fat for a tiny thing like me.

About the champagne--alcohol contains a lot of calories! And skipping meals tricks your body into thinking that it's starving, and your body wants to store any calories you consume as fat. Enjoy eating--just do it in moderation. Eat when you're hungry and until you are satisfied, not totally full. Exercising and drinking water will boost your metabolism and burn those champagne calories!
