Sad Just had my first colonic-help!

I tried to find other posts about this but can't because of the dissbled search button, so any feedback is appreciated. I just had my 1st colonic today. Everyone I talked to said it would make me feel so much better. I have lost weight and have a whole new diet, so I thought it would be a good way to start with a clean slate. Not to be gross. but it's been 10 hours and I still feel like I have to go to the bathroom. I went right after it and a few hours later, but I feel really uncomfortable. There's also a slight trace of blood when I wipe, not sure if this is because I've been sitting on the toilet pretty much all day and pushing too hard. Anyone else have a similar experience? I'm supposed to have 3 more sessions, but I can't bring myself to go back. Is this normal? I was told there are no side effects and I would be fine the rest of the day. Yeah right!

Jenna sweetie, I feel for you. I haven't the courage to even think about a colonic, but I too have heard they can be terrific. The only suggestion I would have is to make sure you don't push when using the bathroom. I don't think that's good for your tender area, especially after your procedure.

Again, I feel for you and wish I could offer more help. Good luck!

You know I've always wondered what is the difference between a colonic and an enema? I've never had either...I'm terrified of it!

I've never done a colonic, but a cleanse.

You should call the place you had it done and ask them about this...

Not to freak you out prematurely, but colonics with improper nozzling and water pressure can tear the lining of your insides, so watch for continued bleeding.

I can't for the life of me figure out how it is colonics are supposed to do so much good? Pumping a mess of water up your ass is bound to leave you feeling less than spiffy....

The difference between a colonic and an enema is that a colonic flushes water through your whole colon, until it feels full, and then is released. An enema, I believe, doesn't use as much water, and it won't be as thorough of a cleaning.

I used to get colonics, and never had any problems. I would contact the clinic where it was performed and talk to them. Try putting a hot water bottle on your stomach and massage your stomach, if there's still water,or whatever, in there, it might be what's making you feel like ya gotta go. The blood is probably from the pressure you're using trying to go to the bathroom, but call the clinic.

I looked up definitions out of general curiosity. They're all basically the same thing?

    high colonic

n : an enema injected deeply into the colon

    colonic irrigation

    enema

n : the injection of liquid into the intestine by way of the anus (as for cleansing or examination)

Ouch! I feel HORRIBLE for you! I had lipo about 4 days ago and the pain medications caused severe constipation. I was on the toilet for like, 2 hours. I thought my incisions were going to tear. I know exactly how you feel! I took Colace, and it helped a little and now I feel much better. Maybe you could try taking a stool softener like Colace? I have no idea if you are allowed to, but it is a thought. If you have been having the urge to have a BM and have been pushing to no avail, then maybe you have some impacted bowels that need loosening up. The blood could mean that you are straining too hard or it could mean what Casual Observer said. But, God I hope it's just that you are straining too much.

I have heard many raves about colonics, but the conventional medical community claims that we don't need colonics and that they can do more harm than good, especially by an inexperienced practitioner. From what I understand, no real evidence of intestinal buildup has been shown. Next time, I would go with the colon cleanse pills or something. Good luck, sweetie!

I swear by Colonics. .I get them twice a year.. and I can tell you that I've never had any of the issues you describe, even the first time I had one done, although I did "go" more than I thought I would, but I wasn't uncomfortable and I didn't have any issues..

Call your clinic and explain your symptoms.

Between tonalin, colonics, running and cutting out all fast food, I have gone from 148 to 118 and kept my weight for almost a year.

    Great line.

Anyway, for bleeding/general pain I'd try homeopathic arnica. It will help with everything. I'd steer clear of painkillers, because they'll dull the pain, and you might hurt yourself more by thinking you're better.

    Feel better!
