    Default License in Montreal?

Hi,I'd like to know how things work in Montreal such as whether or not you need a license , fees, auditions, etc. Also, I'm not sure where to go for an audition because of my style-I'm gothic, measure 5'11 weigh 124 and have a small sized b cup. I have my belly button pierced and my lip (facial).Currently, I am somewhat tanned (not as pale as usual) and I have my hair dyed black (my natural color is blond ) .I do consider myself pretty(I'm not conceited though I've done some modelling and get alot of compliments from people.I'm just wondering what clubs I might have a chance getting a job at. Thanks alot.

I'm just a customer, but I've spoken with enough dancers to know more or less how things work. First of all, you don't need a license in Montreal. By and large, you don't need an audition either--you just talk to the manager of a club and tell him you're interested in working there. If he thinks you have what it takes, he'll hire you. Fees vary from one club to the next, but typically range from $20-30 per night, plus fines if you arrive late.

If you're interested in downtown clubs, they might be grouped into four categories:

    1. Cafe Cleopatra--this is where many dancers start out, and it is the friendliest, least snobby club in the city. It has more steady traffic than any other club and if you apply here, trust me, they'll hire you. It does, however, have several drawbacks: (a) a large portion of its clientele is blue-collar, and according to one dancer I spoke to, about 35-40% of the customers there smell, (b) it's high mileage, and while many dancers there do well without breaking the rules, others don't, (c) there are already 4-5 dancers there with a goth look, so you'd have a lot of competition.

    2. Non-contact clubs (Wanda's, Super Sexe, Chez Paree)--these are clubs where the customers can't touch you. You earn slightly less per dance, but if you have a problem with strange men grabbing your breasts, this is where you want to be. Most of the women working in these clubs have a Barbie-doll look, the clientele includes a lot of businessmen and pro athletes, and the standard is set pretty high in terms of appearance.

    3. Run-of-the-mill contact clubs (Downtown, Gentleman's Choice, Chateau du Sexe, etc etc)--these are clubs along Ste Catherine Street that allow contact and are geared toward tourists. If you work in one these clubs during the tourist season, you'll do very well, but in the off-season they can sometimes be very dead. Barbie dolls also predominate here, but there's a little more variety.

    4. Upscale contact clubs (Kamasutra, Solid Gold)--these are contact clubs in which you'll earn $15 per dancer rather than $10. The clientele is more upscale, especially at Kamasutra. The standard for appearance is also high.

My advice is for you to visit a few of these clubs, speak to some of the dancers, and see which one fits you best.

As a customer, I can tell you that you're exactly my type--and that there's a real shortage of tall, slim women in Montreal clubs. If and when you start dancing, please, please, please let me know where you end up, so I can be sure to buy lots of dances from you.

I would not work in Cleo because this place is a dump ! Wandas is a classy place, no contact not too much money to be made there. Downtown or Super contact are good contact club to make money. But they are 10$ a dance. They don't do auditions here and the fees are very low.
Pm me if you have any other questions.

LOL, Crystal_eyes, you're right: Cleo's is a really run-down dive. If you're looking for a place that is classy or upscale, avoid it like the plague and go to a club like Kamasutra, Wanda's or Downtown.

But then I find that most of the dancers at "classy" clubs have a generic, McStripper look and are not necessarily the most interesting people. Cleo's is more diverse and open-minded. As I mentioned in the post above, there are about four or five goth dancers at Cleo's, but I can't recall ever seeing anyone who fits that description at another Montreal club.

It's also a more relaxed atmosphere at Cleo's; I once had an hour-long conversation with a dancer there about symbolist poetry. I can't see that happening at any other club.

Implecations understood Snark-lol("they wont let her work there ") I do admit- I have an extreme style- I stand out evan when I attend Marilyn Manson concerts but from my experiences , its the more conservative men that really appreciate a wild girl(one example , I dated a top notch lawyer whome I met at a club , himself and his conservative friends have always acted as if I am this Godess as do many other "classy" men. I do have the ability to pull off the "Corporate goth" look (when toning down style-wise is required) .

    - wow off topic, sorry - Anyways some people can pull off different looks and if safety and $ is involved the odds of that happening increase so , maybe I can get a job at one of the classy places , chances are no cuz I AM SMALL CHESTED .Maybe a more open-minded place where creativity is encouraged would work.I'm not sure , still checking things out. I do need to move my [email protected]# though and start working within max. 3 weeks- I start school in September -I need $. One of my friends said Chateau du Sexe is a good place.I'm not sure where to go anymore -lol.Thanks for the advice Crystal_Eyes, you're very nice .Thanks again Snark.
