    Default Post baby skin tightening?

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can get my skin to tighten up more quickly after I have my baby? I know I will need to work out as soon as I'm physically able, but you mommy's know what I mean about the loose skin. I'd like to get back to work as soon as possible.

I dont know how long ago you had your baby but if you're not aloud to exercise yet maybe you can rub baby oil into the skin on your belly twice a day, thats what I did and 2 weeks after having my second son people were like: you dont look like you had a baby. Taking long walks with the baby (pushing a stroller around ) helped tone my belly and body back into shape. If you dont have time for sit-ups , just tightening the muscles in your tummy has the same effect.Plus you can do it anywhere at any time when you think of it. Good luck, take care and enjoy your little one

Yea try baby oil like Seraphina said, or cocoa butter. I agree, moderate cardio would be very good too. But if baby is a newborn, you shouldn't want to take him/her outdoors anyway.

I just had an idea. Why dont you go to the library and get one of those "walking" exercise tapes. That way you can be indoors with baby, and still get your workout on.

I don't think it really ever tightens up completely.

I've lost all of my baby weight and when I stand, you cannot tell, but when I slouch or bend over, you can see it a bit. It used to drive me crazy...but now I don't care. I have a baby...and most men simply did not care...so why should I?

Breastfeeding helps your uterus contract much more quickly than not breastfeeding. Just remember that it took your body 9 months to get to the point where it was when you had your baby...it'll take AT least 3-6 for your body to get back, completely, into the shape that you were before you had your baby. Depending on how old your baby is, walking daily is great exercise...and hitting your local gym is great, as well. But, always listen to your body. It's been through a marathon and you need plenty of rest and down time. Talk with your doctor and make sure that you have the clearance to do the exercises that you are wanting to do.

Oh yeah I forgot-summers in the US are hot and not very good for newborns . Mine were born in March and December ( December was bad in Quebec tio take a baby out- so much snow and so cold - bad for the breathing ).

I got the same thing after I had my son, and unfortunatly, for me it never went away. Like Venus, when I am, standing up, it's really not noticable, but when I bend over, I feel like a dog that just had puppies. lol. Anyways, your situation may be different. It all depends on whether or not the skin has seperated from the muscle. I would definatly keep a good moisturiser on your tummy and drink lots of water. If it doesn't go away, you can have it removed via tummy tuck if you wish, but I personally wouldn't worry too much if it doesn't. It's all part of motherhood which is beautifull to me.

I guess I was one of the very few lucky. About 1 week after delivering Haley my puffyness was gone, and i was back in my prepregnancy clothes. I got lucky on this one, and pray I stay lucky when we decide to have the next. My God can you believe she's almost 4months old already

I had the same thing. My skin was so loose and just hanging. I tried the AVON I think its called "lift and tuck" and violah, it really did help. But you have to use it alot!!! I used it every change I had when I was at home before returning to work and yep! it works. Look it up on Ebay, that's where I got mine. Also as Venus said nurse as much as you can. I only did it for 6 weeks because I had to be back at work by then. But I still pump and carry the bottles home for the little one. I think this will be my last month since I'm becoming more busy at work and pumping requires some time and patience.
    Good luck!

Thanks everyone for the advice. I'm going to try the AVON "lift & tuck" that Vixie recommended. I need to get back to work as soon as I can, so the quicker that skin firms up the better. I've got another child, and I lost the weight pretty fast with him, so I'm hoping to be that lucky with #2 (who is due in a few weeks). Thanks again everybody!

My advice is to put your baby in a sling or one of those baby carriers and walk! Mine was born in March, and when it was really hot we went out at night or went to the mall and walked around. It really did help! I gained like 60 lbs having a 7 lb kid, and I was back in my pre-pregnancy jeans in a couple of months. Between walking and nursing, I lost all my baby weitght and then some in about 6 months.

Putting him or her in a carrier is more work on your body and uses your abs to balance the baby more than pushing a stroller, and has many benefits for your baby, too. If you are into attachment aprenting,. you would alerady know that, ohterwise, here is a helpful link:

    Congrats and good luck!
