Default My body's not flexible enough!!

Okay, so now I have the courage...though I still get sweaty palms thinking about just 'doing it'...dancing that is! I have watched Striptease, to name a few, and try to arch my back, but my back just won't do it. And my leg muscles kill when they try to support my weight...I haven't used them for a long time looking after two children.

I'm worried that I am going to be a crap dancer, even though I feel I am seductive and mischievious enough to do it. I'm just worried about my first time out there on the podium, trying to look sexy and instead looking like a goof!!!

Will this matter, with my flexibility, and my first night? Or in time will my back adjust and eventually I'll look like a pro should...elegant and sexy? Should I just go for it regardless of my back???

    give it time...

newbies are cute because they are not good dancers.
Just tell the guys it's your first night for a while until you get better.

    and remember to smile!

And remember...not everyone is able to do the pretzel moves. LOL I am hyperflexible, so all of those moves are easy of me. However, I have a few dancer friends who are not very flexible at all...and they are still very good dancers.

If you are concerned about your flexibility - stretch! Pilates is what did it for me.

Yet.. flexibility is only really good for shows not really for private dances esp. in Brisbane. Since there is touching allowed - you will find that you don't have to actually have to dance to give a good dance to alot of custys. That's one of the negatives I emphasis to custys in re: touching vs no touching..... alot of dancers don't put enough effort into their dances due to the touching (they slack off and just allow the guys to grope).

In the end, just watch the other dancers. Flexibility is great however it isn't totally needed to make money. Check your sales skills girl. Make sure they are top notch.

Don't worry...., Flexibility will come!!!! After only one month of dancing, I am able to do the splits and before starting I was barely able to touch my toes... hehe

    Good luck

Be sure to stretch! and don't worry you'll get it in time.I wasn't all that flexible when I started out but now I can do floor work and pole tricks with the best of them.Just trust your own judgement of what your body can do so you don't get hurt.you don't want to over do it.Be sure to practice the things you WANT to do and eventually you will be able to do them.
