Hey guys,
I just came back from a harrowing hour long frightmare.
It started on this great little island that had a bridge thatI take my dogs to a few times a month.
As I am walking back I am warned that a little dog is attacking other dogs and to watch out. It turns out that a 15lb feisty and VERY horny male rat terrier was running around attacking girl dogs. I came upon it attacking a 9 lb puppy and drawing blood because the girl wouldn't give it up so to speak.
Well, this dog starts to follow my girl dogs and I get a little worried, until I see he has no collar and is shaking uncontrollably, this thing was FREAKED out.
I call the police who tell me they will send someone right away. Well, this dog is still with me so I attach one of leashes to him, hold onto my itty bitty dog and go over the bridge to wait for the "police."
Well, they aren't there. I was told they would send someone from animal control right away. RIGHT.
So I call animal control, they are closed, I call their emergency number. I am told I will be paiged "soon." About 45 mins has gone by with NO ONE showing up.
Animal control finally calls and says that they can't send anyone until tomorrow at 8 am. I tell that this boy dog is going around attacking other dogs, I can't bring it home, I don't want to leave it there because it might get hurt or hurt something else. I offer to take it the police station, they say no. Then I am told, "Just leave it there, it won't go far and we'll pick it up tomorrow." It is only 7pm, but the dog won't go far by 8 in the freaking morning?
What the hell? Do they think lost, scared and abandoned animals just wait around until 8 to be rescued?
All this time I am on the phone my boy friend is trying to find someone who would like the dog. It's a grat looking dog and is friendly with me, let me give him water and slip the leash over him and then followed me for the mile it took to get over the bridge.
A woman finally walks up, admiring my girls, my boy friend is holding on to them to keep them away from the boy dog, just in case. Well she loves my little dog and then he offers the boy dog to her. She takes one look at it and says, "oh yes, please!." Asks if he has a name yet, I say no, she takes that leash from me and walks away calling him Spud.
I ask you where is Animal Control when you need them, desperately need them.
If it was a snake or a bear, would they wait till 8 since it won't go far?
