    Default New President of Iran

Heard on the radio that he was one of the terrorists who stormed the US Embassy in 1979.

Yup, that's the guy !!! Isn't it comforting to know that he is now in charge of Iran's 'civilian' nuclear program.

Haven't seen a terrorist advance like this since Menachem Begin.

Disquieting. We seem to be in an era where fundamentalist snarls are holding sway.

I also heard he used to be in charge of "questioning" at one of the Iranian's prisons for political prisoners. At least now those in Europe that claimed Iran was "moderating" know the truth.

    Not to mention Yassar Arafat.

Call me doubtfull. Only 6 of the people say it is him. Eyewitness accounts are notoriously unreliable. Add in the fact that this was 25 years ago and I have my doubts that they could properly identify very many of their captors in a lineup.

Many of the revolutionaries who overthrew that Shah had an idealistic vision. For example, although women were forced to cover up during the time of Ayatollah, they were also allowed to attend university and get degrees for the first time instead of being hidden in the home. Lots of contradictions in this culture.

Of course it was shat upon by the religious zealots and those hungry for power. I'm not saying his appointment is good, but keep that in mind.....

They've released pics of the Iran Prez during his hey-day youth and a pic of him now.

Looks like those 6 ex-hostages are right...

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House said on Friday it has unearthed no evidence so far to support assertions by former American captives that Iranian President-elect Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was involved in the 1979 siege of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran.
