    It's totally true; the outlying suburbs are quite a bit more conservative than the center city, but I think that's probably true of every urban area in the country barring those in CT and MA.

    Hmm. Houston really feels like Texas to me, because Texas has more miles of highway than any other state, and being in Houston is like being on one giant freeway. I am afraid we are stuck with it, though I suppose it also by rights belongs a little to Louisiana. Besides, if we got rid of it that we would have no museums or space program. Someone can have Pasadena, though.

    Other cities eligible for blue-state conversion: Asheville NC, Lawrence, KS, Columbus, OH
