Hmm faced with an abusive ex with a prison record, police issue woman panic button to defend herself against husbands gun. And oh yea, she isnt allowed to own a gun.

Give me a break. Just because concealed carry is outlawed in that state it does not mean she is not allowed to carry a gun at all, much less own one. People are better off openly carrying their gun for all to see.
There is no evidence that she'd still be alive today if she had that gun. Does an attacker just sit back while the victim pulls out their gun and aims it?
Unilateral disarmament only benefits those that would commit wrongdoing.
Idealism is fine, but as it approaches reality, the costs become prohibitive.

And just when was this woman disarmed? Not being allowed to carry a concealed weapon is not the same as not being allowed to carry a weapon.

I don't have a problem with guns. I do recognize that like every amendment in the BOR, the 2nd Amendment has its limitations. Free speech has its limits, cops do not always need warrants, etc. The gun guys need to accept the fact that there will be limits on what types of weaponry are acceptable for personal use and what methods of carrying are acceptable.
Frankly I'm pretty much against concealed weapons. The public has a right to know that the person next to them is packing and business owners have the right to know if an employee or customer is bringing a gun in with them.
Where do you draw the line? Concealment? Assault rifles? Grenades? Wire-guided anti-tank rockets?, .50 cal machine gun nests in your front yard? ICBM silos in your back yard? portable nuclear weapons?
When you disarm your subjects, however, you offend them by showing that, either from cowardliness or from lack of faith, you distrust them; and either conlcusion will induce them to hate you
For by arming your subjects, you make their arms your own. Those among them who are suspicious become loyal, while those who are already loyal remain so, and from subjects they are transformed into partisans

More Blahs, blahs, blahs,

whatever. People in America are far from disarmed.
Not to mention the fact that Machiavelli was writing for a totally different time than the one we live in (as were the founders of the US, for that matter).

So much for my happy ending."

^ Irrelevant to the issue of an armed populace and the basic, inalienable human rights of self-defense and self-preservation afforded by possession of arms.
Time doesn't change that because people aren't much different over time--only the weapons change.

Too bad that RFID is not used to identify the presence of guns.
That technology is used in the AutoPass badges you carry in your car to trigger tollboth charges. Unrealistic to consider this a solution for the millions of weapons out there, but theoretically it is a good idea for future production. This is so, since RFID will be widespread in the future.
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.
Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

Not meaning to be disrespectful here, but it sounds like NRA paranoia to me. How many rapid-fire automatic weapons do you think each American should be entitled to own? But then I wasn't in Germany during the 1930s where paranoia was justified.Originally Posted by Hef
