Default What do you do to style your hair?

I've heard over and over again that a major factor in getting a guy in the club to notice you is the way you present yourself. Nails done, classy makeup, tanned, shaved, etc. But what about hair? What do you do with it?

For me, I've never had to worry about my hair. I don't own hair gel or a curling iron or mousse. I have a blow dryer that I haven't used in months and it just sleeps in the bottom drawer of my dresser. I wash it, I brush it, and it looks great. I've even taken pictures where I'm posing and it looks like my hair is all done up, when in fact all I've done is brush it a little.

Should I do anything with my hair if it's already such low maintenance and still looks good?

I made great money, and always got the "You're hair is sooooo long, it's beautiful"! So my hair was an attention grabber anyway!

I love very long hair (even though i had 6 inches taken off a few months ago) It still hangs to my ass when i stand straight up.

Me, i love the black under the hair, and very blonde on top!!!!

But that is all i do, besides sleep in 4 braids at times and take them out in the morning for major waves!!!

long and straight is typically the most popular style. To answer your question though, why change what looks good?

Hmm...I don't think I was too clear in my original post - I need to work on that.

I don't mean style-wise as in, "what do I do next time I'm at the hairstylist?" type of thing. I'm not asking about coloring, straightening or anything of that nature. If anyone is wondering, right now my hair is a dark brown, straight, and stops just above my breasts. A few months ago I cut about 5 inches off (it used to land right above my hips).

Anyway, how do you girls style your hair when you're getting ready for work? Or do you just let it be natural? I hate gunk in my hair, and just about the only thing I could put up with is mousse, but I don't even use THAT.

And I guess you're right, if it looks good, why change?

well, my hair is dark brown and straight about halfway down my back. I usually hit it with a ceramic flat iron to make it super straight and shiney. That's how I styled my hair when getting ready for work. Curls tend to fall out and updo's are just too limiting while working.

Put your hair on steam rollers and set it with some setting lotion. You will have nice lush curls, waves, spirals..That would be BEAUTIFUL. It's it's such a better change than the normal straight down hair. That would truely catch a man's eye!

with all due respect CK, over and over again you hear guys say how much they love long, straight hair. That's not to say that curls and bobs don't look stunning...but curling straight hair over and over and over again night after night can be a real fucking pain, especially if one already has straight hair. Besides, many times you see girls straightening their already wavy or curly hair. In the dressing room it's not unusual to see flat irons all lined up in a row. Of course, if EVERYBODY has straight ass hair, going curly can do well for the stand out factor.

Nooo you dont understand. I didn't say CURL her hair. I said to put it up on steam rollers. That is a whole lot less damaging than straightening her hair on a daily basis.

You hear guys tellin you how much they love long straight hair because you're sitting in their face with a bunch of long straight hair lmao. Why would they watn to hurt your feelings

Alas, my hair is neither straight or curly. It's a big frizzy ball of pain in my ass. It's, long, thick, I have tons of it, and it can't decide what is is other than a nuisance. As such, I have to work to make my hair either straight or curly.

For the record, ignore what people say about "guys like curly" or "guys like straight". Worry about what flatters your face. For instance, if you have a flawless face, straight hair will draw more attention to it. If you have a round face, straight hair will elongate it. Curly or waves softens a long face, or sharp features (I prefer curly because I have a big nose, the waves minimize it).

If anyone needs help doing either, feel free to message me. I am the queen of straightening treatments, ceramic, straight irons, hot rollers, curling irons,a nd sponge curlers, and any hair product you can imagine.

what exactly are those links supposed to tell me? They seem to compare rollers to curling irons. I don't get it.

Basically hot rollers don't damage your hair the way curling irons do. They help to set the hair in place because of their high temperature, but they don't burn your hair the way a curling iron might.

It's true. I have watched ladies work them too. They heat them up and wrap the hair, usually smaller in the front, bigger ones in the back.

The difference is air gets through these. With a curling iron or flat iron there is no air circulation. At least in the hot rollers i have seen. So long term seems more a pain in the ass, but less damage.

I LOVE how my hair looks in waves - but really, it's too much work for me, especially to do it on a regular basis. I could get a perm done, but then I'm stuck with the look for at least 3 months...and that can get boring fairly quickly.

steam rollers dont work for me for giving volume/curl to my hair..

What kind of setting lotion do you use for hot rollers? I just use hairspray.

I use a bit of mousse when using hot rollers to maximize volume and to keep them in longer (with some mousse and hairspray, they stay in all day no problem). Then I wrap my hair int he rollers, do my makeup get dressed, shake the rollers out, and spray.

You know what..you may be rolling to much hair up into the rollers. You have to separate them into not so chuncky pieces. Setting lotion (watery mix) or mousse would work best. You can use the hairspray AFTER you take the rollers out you know.

Joico. Living in the deep south ( Humidity ) and having naturally wavy hair has taught me two things. You must care for the hair if you want to keep it. We do bad things night after night after night, constant styling and jerking about of ones hair causes it to break.

I adore joico products, they are a bit more expensive but WELL worth it. Also, any product with alcohol in it, is bad for your hair. It drys it out and makes it more brittle. Personally I don't use hair-spray as I use my hair a lot on stage and in dances. Hope this helps!

There is this cool stuff, it's called beach blond sea water. if you have any sort of curl at all in your hair it will make it look sexy, in that ' I just got out of bed and my hair is mussed from having sex all night sort of look."

It smells good too, kind of coco-nutty. It does leave your hair a little crunchy if you use to much but the stuff is good and cheap. Six bucks a bottle I think. I hardly ever look at the price of hair stuff. I might get scared.

I keep mine all one length, straight, and parted down the centre. I toss it around on stage and such, so the part isnt ALWAYS there, but thats where it would part naturally anymore. I dont use any products on my hair except for Redken Glass to keep it from frizzing in the humidity that is Florida. I've been seeing a lot of Au Natural looks going around. No styling, no primping... just comb it out and go.

I have that Caruso steam setter and it is awesome!!! I have really long, hard-to-curl hair, and when I'm not too lazy to use it, the curls last all night. I can even comb and brush my hair without messing it up. The curlers don't actually get hot, I guess it's the steam that sets your hair. It also makes your hair nice and soft and shiny. Okay, enough advertising...
