Default Do you ever get sick of..

DJ's that think the sun, moon and stars revolve around their butt?? I have met some very cool, want to work with you, hey can I talk to you a second, lets work well together DJ's. But this one I work with now takes the cake.

He is by far the most rude, self-centered, woman hating beast I have ever had the displeasure of working with. Yes this is a rant because frankly I'm fed up with his BS. I've tried talking to him and no, that did not work. It's like beating my head up against a brick wall. All I got was angry after he screamed at me and called me a name or two. Such lovely adult behavior.

All this over a mistake I made when I worked a double shift and was so tired I could hardly remember my own name. My manager is no better but at least he is civil and understands the being professional part. MY GOD!

Perhaps if this DJ would take his head out of his butt and stop worrying about what his always altered state girlfriend is doing he might be a good strip club DJ, but as it stands he sucks and I hope his karma reflects his deeds in life.

I just wish he would realize that playing long songs on stage, unsubtle songs that reflect his current humor and generally playing crappy music for me when I am on stage has NO effect on me. I still make money and it just makes me think of him as a giant dick and I will not tip him more, as he seems to want me to do.

Blah.. thank you for reading yet another one of my posts. I'm going to go enjoy myself now that I've done my pseudo-primal screaming therapy!

We had a horrible DJ at a club in Vegas which I'll name cause he was such a lowlife asshole....at OG's his name is Jesse. LOSER x 1000 this guy is. I've seen him play the song "Who Let The Dogs Out" for girls on stage if he had some beef with them....one girl made the mistake of having a drink with him once and she had her car keys on the bar, he took them and she thought she must have misplaced her keys. Then he said "oh I'll give you a ride home".....he tried to get in her pants and it was pathetic.
    He seriously deserves karma payback.

I'd be inclined to treat this DJ exactly as you treat your customers - as a man to be manipulated in order to maximise your income. You hustle your customer - hustle him!!!

Frankly, I would not stop tipping him - that'll just make matters worse.

I'd just take him to one side and be honest. Say that you are two people that strike sparks off each other, but that you have to work together. Tell him that you will tip him and tip him honestly, but that the size of his tip depends on him maximising your earnings.

Make it clear to him that he can maximise his income by treating you as a professional would, no matter what you think of each other personally. It should be then clear to him that playing unsuitable music for you affects his earnings - every reason for you to co-operate professionally together.

He might indeed be a "giant dick" - but that's just a very good reason for manipulating him. If you find a way of getting what you want from him, and go home with more $$$'s, then you've had the last laugh.

Don't get mad - get even.

Oh I've had my laugh, his karma kicked in it seemed and he got head-butted or knocked in the head by a horse of his. Yes indeed, can we say karma?

Phil I tried that - as you suggested, thats when he screamed at me and called me some names. Plus, I would never stop tipping him, it's mandatory to tip out the DJ five dollars every night that he works. he just seems to be petty and childish, plus I've seen him do this to other dancers as well when he did not get what he considered his " Just due"

Whats sad is his attempts at manipulating me on the stage don't work! Thats the part I don't understand. Oh well, he will do something to hang himself. Those types of people always do. Thanks for the advice!

Crow, I wonder if the answer is contained in your above reply to my post. Perhaps, you have different expectations as to what the DJ should be tipped. As you say $5 is mandatory, therefore you'll give this to him every night.

Is there a custom in your club for girls who have done well to tip the DJ more than the mandatory amount? If the DJ is, in his own mind, expecting $10 - $25 from you if you have a good night then from his point of view you are doing him out of what is rightfully his. (I'm not saying i$10 - $15 is his due, only that he might be expecting it.).

If this is the case, then t's easy to see why you're getting upset with each other.

You want to pay him $5, because that what you think you should be paying him. He expects more than $5, so feels you are short changing him. If neither of you realise the other has a different expectation of what should be paid, then natuarally you'll get annoyed at each other. You both think the other person is trying to do you out of money.

Could I suggest you discretely enquire of some of the other dancers what they're tipping him. If they're tipping him $15, then paying him the extra $10 may result in him behaving better towards you and playing the music you want - and if better music helps you make an extra $100 a night then paying the DJ more might be regarded as a good investment, (no matter how personally annoying you find it.)

I try to be generous when I tip out the DJ - when I made a good amount I use to give him twenty dollars. Money has gone down in my club and not to be mean or make light of your advice - I am there for myself first and foremost. I work for myself and no, I don't think he is trying to "screw" me out of money.

I simply want him to do his job and leave me alone. It's that simple. As I stated above in my first post all this started over a mistake I made when I had worked a double shift and gave the DJ and the manager less than I usually do. I was tired beyond belief and simply handed them money - how much money I did not know, till I tried to go and talk to the DJ in an adult fashion. If they would of spoken up the night I worked from open to close - all this never would of happened as it was not my intention to be cheap with either one of them.

So, because of what each of them thought was a personal attack, they are treating me like crap.

Once again, I am not trying to belittle your advice which is stellar Thank you.

There are always one or two girls at every club who for one reason or another I never "click" with. But that is not an excuse to play long shitty songs for them when they're onstage. That is just petty and corny and juvenile. And ultimately, he's hurting the flow of the club and everyone's earning potential by his inane little tantrums. Yup, sounds like a dick move to me. Have you tried speaking to the manager about it? Or would it not do any good at all? The only thing I am guilty of is telling one of the always low tipping girls that some hot song she asks for was already asked for by another girl for her next set. That's about it. Anything else is just stupid and inviting drama. Quite frankly there is enough drama at the club without me creating any more of it. This guy needs a boot to the head. Are you the only girl he does this shit to? If not, get the other ones together and approach the manager en masse to protest. Perhaps suggest that all of you will not be tipping him ANYTHING until he stops being such a cockmonkey. Otherwise, if all else fails, just ignore him and keep smiling. People like this want a reaction and if you don't give him one the crappy treatment might stop. Even though I am a dj, I disagree with just tipping him more to shut him up. You already said you tried to apologize, so it probably wouldnt make much of a difference anyway. Best of luck.

I used to work with one of these DJ's.. however, with my sick twisted warped sense of humor, I began complimenting him on his shitty choice of music for me while on stage.. threw him for a big loop... I also stopped tipping him.. and those nights were I banked? Well, he just didn't get diddly squat.. it took him SIX long months to figure me out... I am probably the most easy going person to work with, you play my stuff, you get tipped, its as simple as that.. I didn't bitch, I didn't complain.. but, when it was apparent that he just decided to fuck with little miss Gyn.. well, it took him a long time to realize that perhaps he was a bit too judgmental on me..

I also stopped being "available" when he was short on people for stage.. He'd come to me and ask if I'd go up for him and I'd make up some story about a big spender.. he'd have to do a stage break, then he'd see me chatting and on the floor and not in the back...

Piss me off = does not play games with the DJ...

I did reverse pscyh on him.. worked like a charm... when someone deliberately goes out of their way to make you miserable, it is amazing what happens when you treat them as though nothing is wrong and it hasn't impacted you in the slightest.. guilty concious sets in.. I received an apology.. although, I truly believe to this day he thinks that I am just completely off my mong or something, because when he came to me to apologize, he was like, "I've felt awful, this is what I have done, et" ( he basically told me that he deliberately pulled the shit he did) and I just kinda brushed him off, made it seem like I Had hardly noticed and went on about my business, but deep inside I was lik,e 'FUCK YEAH! I RULE!"..

I don't think I'm giving much advice here, other than just sharing a similiar experience.

I love it. Also, one of my work with girl buddies told me on my last night there ( as I am quitting soon for reasons of my own. ) I should tip him out the mandatory five dollars in bent quarters.. just so he can never use the change - for anything.

    Mean huh? I like it.

Nah, I'd tip him out in mandatory PENNIES!!! LOL..... just say something like, "I was cleaning out my change and I HATE change... hope you don't mind"...

The club I worked at didn't require a tip out.. it was truly something earned not expected.

My club we pay 10% no matter whqat. This works for the DJs because then they get paid (plus they pay to work there.)
It doesn't help dancers because a crappy DJ still gets 10% of your earnings and sometimes it's just not worth it. Especially now that they have changed the club so that the DJ is far away from the dancers and we can't reach him for any reason.
I like DJs I can talk to and don't look down on me, but they are few and far between.
I once had one make the lewdest jokes over the mike and I told him and the owner thatI refused to dance on stage if that's the way he was going to speak about me (he did it with all the other girls.)
It was bad enough that we gave nude lap dances, we didn't need to give the guys any more ideas!
Please don't lick me, it tickles..
