Default Yo, DJs, a couple of questions.

I'm curious, so answer me this if you would:

What do you think is an appropriate tip from a girl who:

    Made $100

    Made $300

    Made $600

    Made $1000

(assume that this was made mainly from dances/VIPs, not that your sweet mellifluous tones drew someone to toss her loads of cash on stage)

Wants to skip a round on stage

Wants to stay off stage all night

ATTENTION: Just give me dollar amounts, not percentages; I don't really need a long explanation or rationale (THIS MEANS YOU BG). I'm just interested in what you consider fair tipping.

honestly.....depends on the type of club AND, what Ive done for them in the past. Whats fair??? Meh, what they can afford. I would HOPE they would hook me up, and ususaly they do. Skip em????? I would hope an extra 5-10 bucks...leave em off all night....once again depends. Sometimes thats only 2 skips...sometimes more and a pain, so it would depend, sorry but there a lot of variables there. I dont think you relise that djs as a whole also help promote YOU as a dancer. Its not just the music we play. Well, I take that back....GOOD djs can help sell you...most others just like to hear there own voice.

I'm just curious . . . where I work now, the DJ just announces us as we play our own music on a jukebox (!). He hangs out in a tiny cubby near the lapdance area and also counts dances. For this he is guaranteed 5% of our net, so if I make $300 that's $15. I think that's pretty healthy, considering what he does.

But of course there's one who expects more and bitches about his tips, and I think I'm just not ever going to tip him extra again. I tried being nice and throwing extra his way, but twice I've heard comments from customers he's made about me and that just does it. Nope.

Sigh. I miss the land of the professional DJs.

    <edit> my bad--it's 5% not 15%</edit>

Ok..thats friggin outrageous. Half the reason I do so well is the fact the girls know I keep up to date with music so they know tere money comes back to them. And I know some clubs are 10% (which I think is crap) but 15% for not even doing half his job.....fuck that. Oh and my math may suck but.......15% of 300 is more then 15$.

Personally, any girl who gives me a 20 is cool with me. As I've said before I think the 10% rule is silly for the most part. Profitsharing is always appreciated, but I aint the one shakin' my stuff all night. 15% for sitting in a cubbyhole while you pick your own jukebox tunes? Wow. He'd better be promoting you girls nonstop and also perhaps doing your laundry and driving you home afterwards, where he massages your feet until you fall asleep. That's ridiculous. And he also talks shit about you? Pffft! I agree with PhillyDj, (as I usually do)....there is no set rate of tipout, too many variables involved. But again, such a high flat rate for someone not doing anything for you is stupid.

Sorry! It's 5% not 15%, which I don't think is that bad. The house takes 20% of the gross, DJ gets 5% of the net. So you gross $400, you're left with $320, DJ gets $16.

I will be happy to be back in a flat-fee club where I can tip what I please.

If the dj just goes "That was the beautiful(insert name here), guys buy a dance from her".. or something along those lines.... i do not consider it being major help. If I am not the customers type, statements like that will not change his mind for the most part(In my opinion)
On the other hand, if my dj played a great song for me,(which allowed me to express all of my exotic energy and do my best moves)... I consider that to be helping me make my sales. The reason is because great moves to a great song has helped me gain a customers attention while on stage. It has also boosted up my confidence to hustle after my set has ended. For these reasons, I will tip about 5 dollars extra to what the maximun amount is.
( I worked in a smaller club where the minimum tip out was 14 dollars per shift.) I would tip a 20to the dj who i felt did this for me

That ass could start a war between nations.

What many dancers dont remember is,its the show.
As long as the show is going on,your able to sell ld's,stop the show and everyone goes broke.

When someone walks in the room, they dont go straight to the ld room.
The way the club looks, the beer, the other girls on stage, the music, the show, all add to it.
To say the dj in a showbar doesnt make a huge difference is silly imo,to say a "dj"in a small club or a jukebox doesnt make a difference, well,we agree, you got a great ass.

You girls know when a dj is working for you and when he isnt,it all depends on who your stuck with at the moment.

I tip at least $10 every time I work, and usually apoligize for it, because as long as I have made $80 or up, I tip $20. The only time I don't is when I have made $30 or less, in which case I very nicely ask if I can double up next time. (yes this happens see the $250-$300 thread below) Consistancy is the key here; he knows he's gonna get at least $10 from me no matter what. Now, I've been there forever and I never get an attitude with the DJs, so they almost always play me what I want to hear without me having to say anything (they know I won't request unless it's slow or custy asked for it). They also like me because if I make over $100 I tip more. As seen in earlier posts, I have never been a high earner, so I do what I can. I think BG has the right breakdown in general, but it also depends on how many girls he has "trained" (wink wink). Philly & Mr. Christopher would be ok with what I 'm tipping too I think....

I am so jealous of you all. The club I work at has a $15 of 10% minimum tipout for the DJ. If I make between 100-200 I don't mind, however I work dayshift in Florida during the summer all the girls myself included usually leave with about $80 on a good day. The worst part is there are at least 10 girls working a day so I don't understand why they don't lower the DJ tipout

Ok my math sucks, and im sure there is a variable in there or two..
But if 10 girls average 80 take home,I dont understand how the club keeps quality girls from making the very short drive to one of the zillion clubs in Fla?
Are you sure 10 girls walk with 80 average during the summer??
If 10 girls tip him 15 or 15%,he walks with more then all the dancers, almost by double!!(yea i know, its almost triple, but as i said,my math sucks)
Is the dj in any way related to the owner??
Why have the girls not killed him yet??(owner and dj)

Im all about the dj walking with as much as the average dancer, but more then them all??
Thats something out of a dj dream!!

Okay, Katrine. For $5000 I'll do it, but be warned, it won't be a pretty sight.

LOL I'll get the daytime dj here to do it for $49.95. LOL

This is what I have learned about DJ tipout over the years. First it depends on the attitude of who is tipping me. If you are sitting on your ass all night in the corner bitchin about all the money you don't make then I have no pity on you. I have never worked in a club that didn't require the dancers to tip at least 10% (no house fee) and I would still have girls dip on me or only through me $5 on a $500 night. I have also worked clubs that require you to tip $50 no matter what and that was before house fees or any fines. Attitude is the biggest factor to me in what happens with that tipout. If you are having a bad night or have something come up and really need to pay me later then tell me. Just don't dip out the back door and expect me to be nice next time, that doesn't happen. I see what guys are tipping on stage and on the floor in some clubs so the second thing is , don't lie about how much you make. Most dj's see what you make and keep a rough count of how much time you spend in VIP. Also remember if you need to skip tipping me then catch up with me another night. It makes me more prone to let it slide next time.
To sum this up let me explain it like this. Take me to the VIP for the most expensive lap dance you offer, I pormise I will pay you after we come out. Now that we are done I need to tell you that my paycheck wasn't as much as it was that one time and instead of what you charge for a dance I'm just gonna give ya $10. Thanks bye.
I'm not saying this is exactly the same thing but it runs along the same lines. We work we want to get paid just like you. I am happy with 10% as long as you are honest about how much you've made.

    !!!!!!!!!!

If you've made $80 any decent DJ should tell you to see him tomorrow. That is insane.

10% is a little much if you have a lot of girls and there is no "Max Cap". Usually if a girl goes under 100 I let them go. They usually appreciate it more if you do and make it up to you in the long run. I also agree with Big's standards of tipping thats dead on.

Just for the record, I will put on a dress and a wig and 7'' heels and shake my ass for...I dunno, how about 14 bucks? I think it would be hilarious. This is all reminding me that I never posted those terrifying pics from last Halloween.....let me assure you, I was a sexy bitch. Rawr.
