Sad My Audition: What went wrong?

I had my audition at Admirals tonight. It was okay. I managed to keep my nerves calm. In the end, though, they didn't want to hire me. i'm really disappointed. i am fine with not getting into the business since i wasn't sure how much time i'd have in the end, but i just really wish I knew WHY. I keep asing myself that over and over. I'm personal, well-educated, and professional. I'm quite pretty - american/eastern european looking. I used to model in Spain when I lived there during college. I have a great body (i'm a runner, 5'9" and 130 lbs) with very small breasts, but there were plenty of small breasted girls there. I have short hair but they hired another girl who has short hair. They said dancing ability didn't matter... and I didn't have any, but I tried to move really slowly, I guess I just didn't do anything that impressive. so what did i do wrong? I'm really confused.

Wow, I'm sorry. I actually have no idea why they didn't hire you. I'm sure you're pretty enough and also you sound like you have a good head on your shoulders. I hope you don't take it personally. Is Admirals a really fancy club? Maybe they needed a certain type? If you weren't sure if dancing is for you - than maybe it's just a sign? Sorry though - that sucks.

Don't know much about this club nor the kind of clientele it serves, but it sounds pretty exclusive. Don't worry so much about it. It's not your fault. The people who determine who gets in and who gets left out, don't go by any rules of logic. I know,
After spending a lot of time in the "underground", I finally inched myself upwards gradually towards higher and better clubs. Because by that time, I knew some more people in the line of buisiness, had better contacts, etc.
This is similar to the time that I applied to an exclusive modeling agency and they found out that I had very little experience. They were ready to kick me out the door.
Only time and experience and knowledge of and contact over the length of time will open the gates. Keep your hope up and continue doing your best. You will eventually prevail.
    Good Luck!

Do they run it on a contest basis? Some places you have to win the amateur contest to be hired... ?

The first club I ever auditioned at told me I wasn't up to par with thier standards. This was the first time I ever took my top off in a room full of strangers. I thought everything was going great until the manager dropped the bomb on me. I even had 2 guys (out of the four that were in there that afternoon) ask me for a private dance.

3 months later I was hired at the club where I really wanted to work but was too intimidated to audition. Within a year I became the entertainer of the year. I love where I work and the people I work with.

As cliche as it sounds, everything happens for a reason.

So sorry to hear about that. Give it some time and try again. I'm sure there weren't any bad reasons they didn't hire you. You sound like a very pretty, nice, and smart person.

Check this out.... I went to audition at Scarlett's Gentleman's club here in Chicago in November 2003. I didn't get hired. I tried again in Febuary 2004. I got in! The bouncers then made fun of me saying that 2 other girls were hired that day. The managers pick 1-2 out of the Monday and Wednesday auditioners. I was told that they thought I looked to young and immature. (I was 1 The bouncers then pointed out the girls who "beat" me. I don't mean to be mean but they were extremely MATURE, couldn't dance, etc. Weird huh? But then I also found out that the manager I auditioned for was a total jerk who got fired a month later for stealing and blackmailing the girls for their tip-out money. Crazy huh?

Try again....you might be having the same prob I had in the beginning.

    Good Luck

Maybe you weren't what they were looking for at the time.

I don't doubt that you come across as pretty, but maybe you lacked the confidence that they were looking for or that you may have looked similar to other girls that work there (the girls you saw on your audition night may not have represented the types of girls they had on the rota). You could try another club, or wait it out and try again.

I recently auditioned at a club that a bunch of my friend and my boyfriend thought would be "perfect" for me. I was told I need to tone my butt. I hate my butt. I wish they'd have just told me I wasn't right for the club. I guess it's for the best because a lot of people go to this club and I'd have been paranoid about seeing someone I know from my day job probably every time I go to work. Plus they have a camera in the lockerroom that beams up to a website. Nooooot good! I don't want to be on the internet. Still, it's a really big blow to your ego. I had guys complimenting me too and apparently that doesn't matter. I'm starting to think the money in stripping is not worth it and the damage it can do to a person's ego is too much for me.

Hi everyone who responded - Thanks so much. You women are fantastic and I think this is an amazingly warm community. I feel a lot better hearing that other people had obstacles to overcome. I feel more than ever that I could really do this if I wanted to. I could track down someone to teach me more moves, which would also improve my confidence. I could go to the tanner, grow out my hair, etc. But the thing is, I'm a medical student. I'm doing really interesting clinical research this summer, I'm studying a lot, running a lot, going out with friends, traveling with my lovely boyfriend, and spending time with my family and I realize I have a very fulfilled life as it is. I really just wanted to make a lot of money fast. AND of course I thought it would be a fun and sexy job. I never in a million years realized how much stripping could just take over your life. Its not just this afterthought of a second job. I think I'm going to hang up my thongs for the time being and appreciate what I already have in my life. (all that being said: If anyone in Chicago wants to teach me some moves sometime, email me and I'll take you out for dinner/drinks in return!)

I (oddly enough) have never not been hired by a club. I dont know why, because I could definitely use some butt exercises (I think) and tummy toned, but who knows why clubs do the things they do.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I didn't get hired the first few times. They told me I couldn't get hired there because there were too many girls, and it was true. Keep your head up and don;t let it get to you.

I would def. suggest you try again. I didnt even make it to my first audition, it was cancelled right before I left my house. I got "hired" at another club that is more upscale and will audition tomorrow. I already did work for them at a show and it was great, and fun. I think things DO happen for a reason. Find another club you may be happier at, even if you think its too upscale for you, dont underestimate yourself.
