That would have it's advantages/disadvantages. If you do decide to get a cab. Make sure it's a woman driver.
On the downside. You never know. If someone wants, they could figure out which cab company you ride with, and then pay the driver off, to get your address.
This is a scary world. Please be safe. Oh also, I dont know if it's legal in your state, but why dont' you buy a taser? I got one on ebay 900,000 Volts for like $35.

I used to cab back and forth to work. Or my boyfriend would drop me off and pick me up. Our club had a specific cab company and we would all get our own drivers. I had this one guy that was so sweet. The club pays them a little extra to keep us all safe and to keep our privacy. Cool huh?
I think cabs are the easiest.
Also, do you have anyway you can get a ride from someone. I mean as in someone (perferably a MALE) that can pick you up or drop you off? I think that's the safest yet.

I have OTC friendships with several dancers, (in the UK). Generally they'll get themselves home using public transport if they're working in the afternoon or early evening. If they're working late, they'll normally give me a call.Originally Posted by Rican_Asian_Ma

When inside I find a quiet out of the way corner and park myself there with a drink. My dancer friends tend to pop by at frequent intervals, and as I know a number of other dancers fairly well, I don't tend to lack for company.
They're not fussed about dancing for me, and I'm not fussed about looking, so we carry on a perfectly normal conversation for the bulk of the time. I call it my bubble of reality in fantasy land.
Come closing time, I'll drive my dancer friend, (and perhaps one or two others who live on the way), home. If time permits I might get invited in for coffeee and supper before pushing off to my place. Suits me and suits them.
Only word of caution. I know real names, addresses, land line numbers, etc. The friendships have become quite close and the dancers concerned and I know a fair bit about each other's lives. Certainly I know far more than any dancer would trust a casual acquaintance with.
Make very sure you can trust anyone who drives you.

Be very careful useing cab services or any type of public trasportion.Always use caution no matter what.Try to get a cab with a few other dancer and the last two get out together and than one can take the other home.Or be sure you have some one waiting on you and is out to see that you get home safely.I work in a very safety orented club so offten the door girl, the dj,the bouncers and even the managers will give us rides home.We are also required to call after we get home.If we don't call within an hour they automaticly call the police. And if nothing turns out to be wrong your fined $150.But i sugest to find a close friend or relitive to take you back and forth.
holy shit! I didn't know they sold TASERs on ebay!I got one on ebay 900,000 Volts for like $35.
Sounds like they really take care of their girls! Your club sounds awesome.Originally Posted by FallenFairy69

i suck it up and pay rental fees for a rental car a few days a week (usually fri-sun, when they have rental specials). the expense overall is less than or equal to cab fare at clubs nearer to my house that won't hire me. the one that would and offers decent earnings potential has for the most part been worth the additional expense (it's 30 miles away in a city with no public transportation after 11pm and not until 10am or so on weekends).
if i give the nearer-by clubs another chance and maybe can work closer to home, i may try cabbing it down to work, or taking the bus in and a cab home at close. or i may still continue with the rentals, for overall best mix (to me) of safety and expense, until i can afford to just buy a car of my own.
I've always just driven myself.........honestly
emily since you're in Tampa I'm sure you could pay my boyfriend to drive you to work if you're really paranoid and want someone to drive you to and from work. He used to work security too so he knows how to kick ass AND he's broke. I really wouldn't be too worried about it though. Maybe it's from growing up in New Orleans where you can get raped right in front of your house if you're not careful but I'm used to being paranoid and looking over my shoulder. Just check your mirrors for followers and maybe take alternate routes to and from work.
I always have driven my own car, and never have had any trouble.
Promote yourself and earn more money! This is a business that is owned by strippers for strippers. Let's make that money!

I would drive everynight.
Scorpio dropped me off and picked me up. Usually, only, because after being mommy all day long...and then dancing all night long...I didn't like driving.
The one thing I would suggest is that you make sure your plates are registered to a different address than where you live...and alternate your routes to and from work frequently.

from my own personal experience, I found it better to drive to work than to take a cab back and forth. I did cabs before I had a car and when my b/f wasn't able to drive me. I even established some working "relationship" with a select few cabbies who seemed "cool." They ALL ended up the same. They started talking about how they used to date a stripper blah blah blah wink wink hint hint. One cabbie started leaving gifts on my front doorstep.Originally Posted by emily1015
That went over REAL well with my b/f.
I've had random cabbies solicit me for blowjobs (after they picked me up from work)
I found many of them to ask personal questions that were WAY beyond my comfort level. One random cabbie literally stalked me in the store once.
THe best cabbies I found were the women drivers. But not too many of them work at night and unless you make arrangements for pick up beforehand, they can be next to impossible to secure for a ride home.
I found driving to be so much more stress free. Just always be aware of who is following you and know how to take evasive action if needed. I've done that a few times too.

Yea baby, you can get just about anything off of ebay. I am the ebay queen! Check the link below!Originally Posted by Bunny

When I lived in NY, I took the subway/LIRR or my bartender would pick me up and drop me off sometimes. Now that I'm in Florida, I took the cab company that the bar uses the most before I had my car. Never ever had a problem with them, and we had a flat rate since we worked at the bar. Now I drive myself... which I better hurry up and go do now!![]()

Marasmus ... "Ladies don't fart. They butt-laugh."
Marasmus says, "Oh no, that wasn't gas, it was merely a rectal chuckle."
Marek says, "A friend of mine got punched in the face by a dominatrix stripper about two weeks ago and I thought of you."
When I lived in Idaho, I would generally drive myself or ride with my then roomie or have my live-in man drop me off and pick me up.
Now, I don't have a car. In SF, taking a cab is the norm for alot of the girls that live in the City. I use the same taxi dispatch and also have several regular drivers that I can call on. If I'm feeling adventuresome (and not running late), I can take the bus to work for $1.25!![]()
I always drove when I lived in L.A. Now that im in New Orleans my boyfriend drives me to and from work. When he's gone after summer I dont know what I'll do. I hate to think of parking and walking to my car from Bourbon street. Scary!
goldengrl69, I have a friend who danced in N.O. for a while and she would take the bus. One night she had a group of guys start following her. Be careful and keep your car parked someplace that will always be populated when you walk to and from it! Maybe you could get a parking contract with a nearby lot or something like with one of the hotels on Bourbon or very close by.
I have always driven myself or taken a cab.
I've always driven myself except for a short stint when I had no car, then I carpooled in with another dancer.![]()
Bunny, thats a good idea. Right now its not even tourist time, and it still looks crowded than from what Im used to.Everyone is all drunk and acting crazy. In L.A. most the clubs have parking for you in a lot (most likely behind the club) and the bouncers walk you to your car. I have pepper spray but remember reading some where on the forum about where to buy a tazer. I need more protection than pepper spray on Bourbon or anywhere in the french quarter.
I never really felt unsafe on Bourbon (except for maybe pick pockets) but rather in the outskirts of the quarter. I got held up at gun point in the Marigny. Between the four of us they got $12. ha!
okay, I mut be very niave. I didn't even think about the lengths you would go to maintain privacy. I guess I just th9ught everyone was like me. non threathening.

LOL that is where I got my stun gun from lol, dont get anything less than 300,000 volts, that will knock them on there ass
