    Default seasonale

I did a search, but only one thread came up dominated by a girl who had an awful experience.

I just got a script for seasonale but won't start taking it until i finish up my ortho lo. I've been on birth control for six years now, with very little effects as of late. I went through three different pills until I found one I was cool with. Seasonale seems awesome for not having to deal with the pms that keeps me from dancing right before my period. I am scared to mess with my good chemistry, though. Anyone else try this? How'd it go, and how long were you on it? I expect to be spotting through the first couple months, as you would whenever you switch pills, but is it really awful w/ seasonale?
...and the day came, when the risk it took to remain closed in a bud became worse than the risk it took to blossom.

Ok seasonal. ICKY! sorry to tell you this the spotting is like having your period. It is horrible. It did not help me with my cramps at all either. Which was why I tried it in the first place. It just was a horrible experiance. I was on it for a total of one year and I got "spotting" every month. If you want the not period for months thing, any birth control does that, you just keep taking it. When I was on the patch, I kept it on and it worked sooooo much better then seasonal ever did.

I have taken Depo-Provera before and my period stopped completely--I don't even think I spotted. BUT, it made me a crazy woman!

I was on it for a total of 6 months. I've been on the pill for 12 years too, so my body is used to synthetic hormones...and I still had an awful experience. I had minor spotting, most weeks on the first 3 months. Then the second three months I had period level spotting the entire time. I stopped taking it and finally quit bleeding after a week. Once I got a "normal" period again I went back to my old standby, Ortho-Novum 135.

Argh, I was afraid that's what I'd hear. The gyno my primary care physician referred me to cancelled three times over three months, so he just wrote me the script. He wasn't able to answer my questions, though.

Isis, do you just skip the inactive pills and keep going? How many months until you stop bleeding? I tried this once with my ortho lo, going from the third week pills back over to a new pack, but still got my period by the end of the second week in the new pack. I was in college, and UHS told me it was a bad idea to keep doing it.

Does anyone have a reputable gyno I could at least call for birth control advice?

I just started this and am mid way through week 4 and light spotting just started... well see. One thing Ive noticed is that I have absolutely no appetite on this stuff... which is why Im posting to see if anyone else has had this side effect.

I havent been hungry at all since I started. I swear I can easily go days without eating if I dont remember and force myself to. Yesterday all I ate was 8 triscuits with cheese and today 6 of them. I forgot to eat yesterday other than that but I am going to go grab something now.

When I do make myself eat I feel sick the whole time. Like I just ate a 6 course meal and am now making myself eat another meal... its weird...

Anyone else have this side effect on Seasonale?

And Gerina - the only way you can skip a period is if youre on a birth control that has the same dose of hormones through the entire 3 weeks. The problem with Ortho is that it has more hormone at the beg and then gets lower. (i.e. the TRI part of the name) You CAN do the skip a period thing but you need a different BC.

i'm not on sesonale anymore because i ran out and since i'm not sleeping with anyone at the moment i'm in no real rush to get more. i was on it for 6 months and never had a problem with it though.
