    Default Books, Movies, Websites?

Okay, I am weird. When I am really interested in something, especially when it is a potential job opportunity, I do tons and tons of research on it. I have been doing the same when it comes to stripping. I have never been to a strip club and at the moment, I don't have enough money to even pay for the door fee to visit one, let alone tip any of the girls dancing there. After all, first hand experience is the best research one can get, right?

With that out, I am left with searching for books, videos, internet links that would help. That is what led me to this site. I have been combing through the forums and sucking down all of the information that I could find there (and boy, was there tons!), but now I want more. ^_^

Basically, I am looking for any useful material, whether it be biographies about strippers (that present an accurate view of this career), how-tos, tips, anything that could possibly be helpful. Do you have any favorites that you can recommend?

    Thanks!

Normally, I would recommend the bestselling autobiography, "Janet Reno: The Supermodel Years", but as you appear to be serious, I won't recommend it.

What is needed at this point is to start applying at the various clubs and bars.
Now, it goes without saying that dancing goes with stripping. Although stripping can be performed without dancing, it is the as just the same as standing up and just taking your clothes off. No drama. And people will not pay just to see that. (Well, maybe some will, but then that kind of a place is not an SC).
Next, how much dancing experience do you have? When I started I had none, even though I made it all right for a few months, I had to take dancing lessons, and paid a tutor to coach me.
If you have any gymnastic experience, it would help, when it came to pole dancing, but this takes some finesse and refinement.
But above all, you need to find somebody that will hire you and take a chance with you, and that is easier said then done. It is the same as finding a job, you will be faced with a number of rejections, broken promises, and heartbreak. However, don't be discouraged.
Keep going the way you are going and good luck!

don't forget about sales books! When I started stripping I thought it was all about how you dance, but I quickly learned it was about how well you could sell. You can be a fabulous dancer and still not make any money if you don't have the sales skills. Anything by Joe Girard or Napoleon Hill should help...

Joe Girard or Napoleon Hill. Got it. I will try to find some books that they have written, immediately. When I first started out on my little research expedition, I had a rather limited view of exotic dancing, thanks to growing up in small-town hickville. And now that I have been reading these articles and posts from you women, I've realized how wrong my first impressions were. I never realized how much selling you actually do, how much work you actually have to do to make it in this business, which I find really intriguing.

As for dance experience, that would be none. Unless you count dancing around my room with my headphones on, acting like a total screwball. Other than that, I have none. The same with gymnastics. But I've been working on my flexibility and such, trying out the foreign experience of yoga. I'm getting more flexible, but nowhere near as what I wish to be.

I'm working on the dancing part. I have been looking around my town for someplace that offers lessons, in anything, really. I cannot find anything around here. I doubt I could find a coach to teach me exotic dancing, but if you know someone in Midwest Ohio who would be willing to take on a rather clutzy student, then I would be in your debt. ^_^

Ah, I am babbling. Stopping now.

Another good book you should get (immediately after you read Think and Grow Rich) is The Psychology of Selling by Brian Tracy.

I'd recommend taking belly dance classes. You'll get flexible fast and learn some real sensual moves that can be directly used for stripping. Also you will feel a whole lot more comfortable in your body after taking them for a while.

Besides that I'd recommend Sheila Kelley's book "The S factor" which you can get on Amazon or Ebay.

Or the videos by Fauna (sp?) you could do a search on the internet for her.

BUT I don't know how you can do any of this if you say you can't afford the 5 - 10 dollars it takes to get inside of a strip club (which by the way are probably free during the day).

The most you are going to learn is by getting some friends together and going and sitting at a rack for an hour and watching the girls. Then go right home and practice.

    Good Luck.
I'm confused, but the Chewbacca Truffle Shuffle cleared it up. - Emily
