I currently use MAC eyelashes, which are $9/pair. I would like to find a cheaper brand as the lashes are only good for 3 wears. What are the good buys that you know of?

I have tried many brands of false eyelashes and the ones I like best are from your average drug store. They have very thin strips that connect to your lid for a more natural yet intensifying affect. The name of this brand escapes me at the moment but I think it might be Andorea or something similar to it. Each pair costs around $4.50.
ardell #53. or salon perfect lashes #53..
These are my fav lashes. I like them more then mac and they are only like 4 bucks or less.
mahlor, do you dance in toyko now? Im just wondering b/c there have been a bunch of threads on toyko clubs in the past year.
NYC. They're $3.99 (CAD) and I can stretch 'em out to 2 weeks of daily use (is that gross???).
Feature costumes for sale!
Mine are like Ardell or Andrea or something.. they cost me $3.29 at the regular drugstore. You can find places to buy them bulk online and get them cheaper then sell the extras to the other girls or the housemom, heh.

I've used all the brands mentioned and had good luck with all of them. The average life of my falsies is about 2 weeks. When I am taking them off, I don't just rip it off my eyes, instead I carefully grab the "center" of the lash and gently pull away from the lash line. I noticed this helps maintain their shape. I store immediately back in it's container after pulling off the glue. I think how one removes the lashes are really important to prolong the life of them.
oh and I wear them daily!! They're addictive!!![]()
i use ardell. i look in the newspaper to see when the drugstores have sales on them for like 99 or 1.99 and buy a bunch of them then.
Never wore eyelashses until I got in this buisiness.
Never even knew how to put them until one lady at Nieman Marcus showed me how.
Have used Headcovers, Ardell, Andera, and fh2 to name some plus a variety of others.
I often use a particular color or hue to relfect the mood I am in.
Adventurous, Ingneue, Debutante, Firery, Infatuated, etc. It's all in it.

I just use the ones from wal-mart.they are cheap, look good, and are very durible.just be sure to store them in the container or they lose thier shape. And if they do,hey, what a couple of bucks?

What length do you use? I have one pair that I used for a glamour photo shoot, but they are ridiculously long!
Whenever I go shopping for them(and never buy), they always look too long or too plastic...
I guess I should just go for it since we're kinda supposed to look plastic anyways...
Whatever the store has #45. They RULE!!!!! Sometimes I go to the costume store and get very long, thick ones, or glittery ones. The fake lashes really complete the "stripper look". They are requisite for getting into character.

love the false lashes, but they always fall off- i put the right amt of glue on. does anyone know of a good lash glue to buy??

Duo. You can buy it at Walgreens, a MAC counter, or online. I haven't had luck with other glues.
To update this thread, I've fallen in love with Ardell's Elegant Eyes line.
I find the ones at Wally World work just great for me, I don't wear them except maybe once a week so I just put them back in the case. I think there must be half a dozen different designs of them that I have in my makeup box. My favorite are the ones that have the gem like glitter at the lid! I also love the ones that have color intermingled in the lashes.

how do you put them on? i have tried and failed countless times.

I had someone at the MAC counter at a department store show me. I could not figure it out myself, no matter how many books I read on the subject. You'd have to buy a pair of their lashes for them to show you. I thought it was worth the $9.

It doesn't really matter what brand you are using as long as you are using a good glue that's the important part. I'm using whatever cheap brand for the lashes but the glue from MAC.
Kristina,
Don't attach them to your actual eyelashes. Attach them litterally to the lid right above the lashes. then do your eye makeup. I put the glue on the falsie very lightly and start from the inside corner of my eye and slowly press the lash down. The first couple times your eyes will probably water, don't rub them, let them dry.

I've never tried them...I`m a clutz with makeup and never had the courage to get glue near my eyes. Are they really worth it, and can they be worn with contacts?

I got these instructions off of a makeup board= I used her mehod, and it worked for me!
I put them on every day for work, and I've found that a pair of Revlon tweezers is my best friend. I use the ones with the slightly rounded tips. The lashes with the glue already on them aren't very good. Use separate glue., and be sure you check the length of the lash against your eye before applying (you can trim them with sharp scissors if it's too long). To apply, I squirt a small bead of glue onto my thumbnail (I use my nail as a palette) and, picking up the lashes with the tweezers (I hold them in the middle, making sure not to touch the tweezers too far up the lash and towards the sticky part), and drag the sticky side along the drop of glue (this spreads the glue on without getting too much onto the actual hairs). I hold the tweezers away from my face for about 10 to 20 second to let the glue get tacky. Then, I plop the lashes onto my own lashes trying to match up the middle of the fakies with the middle of my eye. Using the tweezers, I then pull both ends of the lashes into place, and pinch the lashes against my natural lash line bit by bit, working my way from the outside of my eye toward the inside. I usually wait for things to dry a bit before adding mascara, but once they're dry, I add both liner and mascara. The mascara is especially good for making the lashes blend with each other. I never use waterproff mascara, however, as it will mean that you can't reuse them as easily.
The most important step of this process is the pinching against the lashes! Be sure to wipe excess glue off the tweezers in between pinches, so as not to skew the positioning of the fakes. But be sure to do this step! It will put the lashes into the most comfortable place for you, and the best looking position.
Perfect, that is EXACTLY what I do except I just put the glue directly on the lashes, or put it on a surface and run them across. Works like a charm!
