    Default South Padre, Tx??

I recently received an email from an owner of a club in South Padre, TX (I'm aware it's like 30-45 minutes from the Mexican border) asking me if I was interested to fly down and work. I'm curious as to the money that can be made in this area, compared to other parts of TX, and if there is anyone who has worked in South Padre or known someone who worked in South Padre who could give me some info. Thxxx.

    Hey,
Can you pass me that info, on PM if you like. I have many friends from there and can guarantee to find out if its shady or not.

There is good money in Brownsville and Harlingon, especially for a caucasion, asian, or black girl.

Padre is a tiny island, like 2 miles by two blocks. Its families and college kids. I can't see any decent money right on the island, but its a nice place for a weekend vacation.

    ...probably not worth a flight.

I'm usually down in Padre once a year, and I've never seen the club on the island even open. It's always been closed; I don't know if it's a seasonal thing or what. I just figured it was a waste of space.

I'll be down there pretty soon for sun, surf, and the celebrating of reaching a new age bracket. I'll drive by to see if anything is happening, but I'm not going to be all that interested in going strip club hopping while I'm down there.

I don't know; I don't want to risk running into anyone who knows my dad so I'll stay away from those clubs . . . I too have never seen Babes on the island actually open. It might be fun to check out if you're driving down from San Antonio or Austin, but I can't imagine the money is any good.

Are you sure it wasn't in harlingen, texas? I remember last year the manager was here online advertising his club that just recently opened in November, 2004. I'll try to search for his post.

ok couldn't find the post but i actully still had the email, lol,

    Here is his email:

For all of you who have inquired about dancing at Valley Girls in Harlingen, Texas. We have been open for about a month and have developed a nice group of regualr customers as well as a steady stream of new customers. We will be having a big New Year's Eve Party and then looking forward to a great year next year. We have also negotiated a great rate ($30 a night) with the Hudson House, a nice motel just down the road from the Club (http://travel.yahoo.com/p-hotel-5953...n_inn_suites-i) .

We did get a small amount of cold weather last week, but it has returned to the usual mild weather here and on S. Padre Island so if any of you are interested in dancing we are always looking for girls who want to spend a little time down here in South TExas.

    Is this the club?

So is the place up and running? None of the links work on the site?

Karl promised to PM me when the place was open. He seemed quite set on getting girls from the north to come down and work.

I suspect some racist reasoning behind it but can't really prove that.

There are plenty of dancers in Houston, SA, and Austin who can drive down there for much cheaper than a flight.

Its less than 4 hours from here and I'd totally be willing to drive, but he didn't seem to care for the local Tx girls. Why does he need to recruit all the way from NY? Are we not good enough for podunk fucking Harlingen? That chaps my hide a bit.

This is assuming we are talking about the same club and owner. If not, disregard.

The email I received was from the owner of a club in Brownsville-don't know how far that is from south padre, but he mentioned south padre was where I would be staying in the email. Does anybody know anything about Brownsville?

Dude, don't call my hometown podunk! There's a Target and everything down there.

    Now, Pharr, that's podunk.

Brownsville is the border town across from Matamoros, Mexico, pimpy. Why in the world are you thinking of coming from New York to small towns in South Texas? I am just about certain you could do better up there without the expense of travel and lodgings.

Probably not much sense in bumping a thread like this over two weeks later, but since I was in SPI earlier this week, I should say that the club on the Island itself is closed...shut down...and I think may be for sale (the building anyway). Funny thing...the ad (which I'm having to draw from memory since I already gave the real estate "book" to somebody else) says there was a small 1 bedroom/1-bath apartment above the club...that's mighty convenient...I used to joke about having a "home" within a club...turns out there was one in that one.

Figures...guess nobody wants to buy the building either, eh?

Off-topic...I'm always a bit surprised by how much commercial property is available down there...and I mean property that has a club or restaurant that went out of business. Now that I think about it, I thought there was a club going up on Padre Blvd. that was supposed to be like the Graham's Central Station-type clubs with several different types of music in different rooms. Either I didn't see it this last trip or it just never took off...
