    Sad Scotty's been beamed up.

I really liked the tributes published on the following webpage. I've submitted my own. If you see one by Scott Jensen, that's mine.

I grew up with Star Trek. I was too young to see it first air, but probably saw it more than those that saw it first air. For me, it was always on right after school. I remember dreaming of being on board that ship. I once bought "the" blueprints to it. The blueprints that forgot to include a single toilet. *laugh* The original series was a show of hope and optimism.

I also went to one Star Trek convention and their Guest of Honor was Mr. Doohan. A very nice like-able man that was so patient with us fans and happy to answer any question we asked. A great ambassador for Star Trek.

    Rest in peace.

    James Doohan (Montgomery Scott)
    March 3, 1920 -- July 20, 2005

"He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldrini, the traveler came as a large and moving Torg! Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor! Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!"

I was sad to hear that James Doohan had reversed the polarity of his dilithium crystals for the last time. Respect is due to a fine comic actor and possibly the most patient man who was ever born. Anyone who hears "Beam me up, Scotty" from random passers-by every three minutes for well nigh forty years of his life without committing mayhem with a high-powered assault rifle deserves some kind of award.
