    Default Permanent Makeup

Hrm...after posting my last makeup post...I decided to just make this one about permanent makeup.

who all has it, and what have been your experiences with it?

how often do you need to touch it up? is it worth the price? do all the blacks turn blue or green after awhile? did it hurt? does someone else need to drive you if you get your eyeliner done? should i take time off from work because my face will look funny?

i am seriously thinking about at least getting my eyebrows done. being asian, i have REALLY SPARSE brows. i hate worrying about an eyebrow getting wiped off or messed up or something. i actually bought this stuff by paula dor or something like that...i bought it off of www.sephora.com. it actually is clear stuff that you put over your eyebrow that acts as a sealent. it seals on the pencil. for the most part, it works. i have slept with it on and my eyebows were perfect the next day. it's also waterproof. the only downfall is that it peels a little bit...especially if you use too much. it IS pricey, however, and it seems easier to just get them tattoed on. however, since my face is just about all i have going for me (at least with my makeup well done)...i am weary about having the procedure done.

I've gotten my eyebrows tattooed on two occasions, normally when you go get them once you have to be back i think fifteen days later to redo them again, then you are supposed to be set. The first time i got them done i don't know they must have used cheap paint cause my eyebrows fell off almost immediately, The second time the paint was better but it still faded not as dark as i'd like it to be. but maybe its just me, ive seen other girls with permanent makeup and it does last on them. About the pain yes it does hurt like a mutha @##$%$. especially when you go for your touch up since your eyebrows are already hurt from the first time the second will be worst.

they say the healthier your skin is, the harder it will be to keep the ink.

but after a 2nd or 3rd touch up, you should be fine.

I stress that you find someone who does it well! Look at their work before you get it done because nothing is worse then a fake looking painted on eyebrow that is too dark for your complexion. (make sure to see before and after pics)

I had mine done because my hair is just too damn light in my eyebrow area, and im happy with the results, however i need a touch up b/c some of the ink faded. She wanted to make sure she didnt go too dark on me. But the 1st touch up is normally free anyway.

That is because she went to someone who didnt know what the heck they were doing.

Also, some older women darken their brows with black eye pencils. When they get the permanent makeup they ask for the same effect. So, it may look horrible to us but the person who got it done might love it!

I have perm makeup. I have my eyeliner done and also lipliner. I've had nothing but positive experiences.

Initially you go for a touchup (if my memory serves me right) about a month later. This is to even out anything that may have flaked or taken incorrectly. After that, it depends on how well the ink holds, touchups anywhere from a year to 4 years. I originally had my eyeliner done in a brown, after a few years I decided I wanted something a bit more noticable, so I went in and had them redone in black. I had my lipliner done at that point also. I have needed a touch up on the lipliner (which is very common based on the frequent shedding of that area).

As for color changing, it's possible, but definitely not a given. It depends on the color used and your skintone. I have black on my eyes, but I didn't want a jet black so I have a more muted version. I had someone drive me to the appointment because with all of the healing goo they put on can leave vision a little blurry at first, but it clears up quickly. You could actually drive yourself if you give yourself an extra 15 minutes for vision to "clear".
You will be swollen the first day and it will look very bright (I joked that I looked like a doll with the eye/lipliner the first day) so I would suggest taking off the first night you get it done. Returning to work the next day should be fine, just be careful to keep that area clean. Go so someone who knows what they're doing and pay attention to followup care and you should have no problems.

I just got done with my micropigmentation session. It took three hours to do my brows and upper lash line enhancement. It was an annoying and sometimes painful process (even with a topical anesthetic I could still feel the needle pinch once in a while) but worth it. I'm a little swollen and waxy looking right now, but that shoould go away within 48 hours. I'm really happy with how it looks so far and I can't wait to see myself in two weeks when I'm completely healed and the pigment has "mellowed"!

I picked a Black/brown for my lids and a deep sandy blonde/borderline light brown for my brows. She told me that I shouldn't have to worry about my brows turning green or blue since the ink didn't contain those pigments. In a few years I might need to touch up my liner for that reason, but I was aware of that before I decided to do this.

I agree that you need to do your research before you choose an artist. I saw some hideous photos on the web and couldn't belive that someone would call that thier best work. When I showed up for my consultation with Ali (the technician) three weeks ago I asked her to bring in picturs of her most recent work. She showed me every client she's done over the past month. When I told her where I worked she whipped out a photo of a gal and asked me if I knew her. Not only did I know her but I had no idea that she had her brows and lips done! That sold me.

I had my BF drive me. I was worried that I might have blurred vision but I was fine. I normally work Thursday, Friday and Sturday shifts but I scheduled myself off this week in case something bizzare should happen, like an infection or that weird peeling thing that can happen when you get tatooed. If all goes well I might go back to work this week.

I'll update you on my healing process and hopefully post some pics if I ever out how to do that...

I have my eyebrows and eyeliner (upper and lower) done, for me it was a positive experience overall but as some of the other girls mentioned make sure the person you pick knows what they are doing. The girl that did mine was actually a RN as well as having various certifications for the micropigmentation.
