    Hi, I'm new.

Hey, I'm new to the community. I've been skimming over various posts on this and other websites and I'd like to pose a question.

I've gotten a vibe (I could be way off here), that dancers don't like working at a club that will hire a less-than-ten.

I am interested in getting into the industry to supplement my income, and I also think it will be a lot of fun. I almost feel like it's something I need to do. To prove to myself that I can.

I'm a lot thinner than I used to be, but I do have stretchmarks and such. I've been working out for the past three weeks to get myself into what I feel is good shape, and I've been practicing a little.

I guess I'm just wondering how large of a factor personality and attitude really are. And will the prettier girls feel that my presence there is sort of bringing down the quality of the club, and thus start causing problems with me? I'm not an ugly girl, but I'll never be in Playboy either, and I'm fine with that, my interest in this is focused on putting money aside for me and my boyfriend. I know that I won't know for sure until I actually get out there and do it, but any advice from working dancers would be greatly appreciated.

Heh, a lot of girls are less than tens, as you put it. In fact, many of the girls that you might consider 10s have body hang ups and don't consider themselves "perfect".

Typically the only time you will have problems with other girls is when you start them or they are jealous. Give it a go. Have a friendly attitude. Be nice to the girls but don't try too hard (bigger clubs can be more difficult, smaller clubs the girls tend to be more like a "family").

Your appearance should have little to do with how they treat you. I would be worried if you thought you were MORE attractive than the other girls. Good luck!

Thank you! Actually a bouncer at the club I'm thinking about working at said himself that the employees are like a family. Hopefully that's really the case!

In those kinds of clubs, usually the vetran dancers will be very helpful to you if you are new to dancing. Tell them. Get advice etc. I know at my club they took me under their wing. I didn't even have heels my first night (ugh rolls eyes at my naivity 11 years ago). They borrowed outfits and gave me tips right from the get go. Keep us updated with this thread how things work out.

Maybe if you know the bouncer it could be a good in for you as well (that is if he is liked)

Girls like working in clubs with prettier dancers because usually that's where the guys go, and the money is. The fact is most clubs have maybe 1 or 2 tens at a time, and many girls fall in lower numbers. Every girl has her assets, and things she needs to work on. Guys are there to have fun, so the funner you are, the more attractive you are and the more $$ you'll make. As for worrying what other dancers think of you........ Take care in the knowledge, they don't really care about you because they're too busy thinking about themselves and their money. So use common courtesy and you'll be fine

Yea, smaller clubs can be the exception. When times are slow, you have a lot more incentive to get to know the girls you work with. The first club I worked at was pretty small, and I had 2 dancers teach me to give laps and invite me to guys tables. They were so sweet. It's way easier at a club like that, than a bigger one where you are just thrown to the sharks. You'll be fine, don't worry : )

You and cassidykarma have given such positive feedback. This website ROCKS!!! I'm going to work out for a few more weeks and then I'm gonna do it.

What have your experiences been with female managers? Both the GM and the Asst Manager at the place I want to work are female, and I would think this would be a good thing, the GM seemed very nice, but I was just wondering if the there was that large of a difference.

I'm hoping to start dancing sometime this month. I may not be a perfect ten (although I'm much closer now than being a #2 like I was 6 years ago) in other people's eyes, but you know it's all in the attitude. Men love women, and men love looking at women. If you have a killer attitude, a great personality and love what you do, the men'll buy into that! Good luck darlin'!
