Default Need advice about an eBay issue..

Okay, where do I start..I sold a vintage Pucci dress on eBay.
The buyer contacted me saying that the item had a hole under the arm and would like to return it for a refund. Which I agreed to do in good faith.
However when I got the dress back this morning its totally fucked up !
There is a 5-6 inch hole under the right underarm and a 3 inch hole under the
left on. Not to mention the numerous tears along the side seems. I am pissed the fuck off ! Part of me doesn't want negative feed back and another part is like fuck it, this is worth getting negative feedback over.
I am so angry that its hard for me to think straight.. I also know that being as angry as I am right now is not good for my health either.
    What should I do ??
Should I keep my word even though its obvious this wench is trying to pull one over on me ? Or should I give a refund less the monies for repairing the dress ?
Or just send it back to her and deny the refund all togther ?
    Please help ..

Oh Farrah! It seems to me like this person tried on the dress, knowing full-well that it wouldn't fit her. The appearance that you described fits my idea of what happened. Honestly, I'd contact her and tell her that there's no way that the dress was in that condition when it was sent to her, and that she returned it in such a bad condition that you know what happened.

If it were me... I'd ship it back to her and caution her to make sure she checks the sizes of the listings BEFORE she purchases in the future. I don't think you owe her a dime. Just send back the dress that she bought. It's not your problem Hun.

Just don't leave feedback until she leaves it. Then, you can defend yourself with a reply.

God Rhia, That does sound simple enough. The only thing I' m worried about is that I do offer refunds on all of my auctions. Which I think I'll be changing my policy since there are shady people who like to try and take advantage of kindness. Aghh !
My sister suggested contacting eBay but, I really don't think they will do anything about it. I'm still going drive over to eBay Park this afternoon and see if there is any recourse I have as a seller.
Do you think I should send her an email letting her know I'm denying the refund or just send the dress back ?

Whew.. Definitely change your policy on your auctions Hon. Say something like "All merchandise is sent in good condition (or gently used, new, whatever the case is)." You can add in that clothing is sold As-Is and no refunds will be given. I've seen a lot of sellers adopt that policy. They've probably had the same problems.

Definitely send her an email to let her know that you will not be issuing a refund, given the horrible condition of the returned item. In a way, let her know that you know how it got that way (as nice as you can).

    ((Hugs to you))

I agree with Rhi...send the dress back with a polite letter that states the garment is now in un-sellable condition...which it was not in when you shipped it to this person.

Some stores would take returns, however, they get credited by the company...and can usually get rid of them that way. There is nothing you can do about the dress, now...

Have it repaired...give her a refund minus the cost of repairs...and make sure that you keep a picture of the dress that you had on ebay...a before and after pic. That'll make a huge difference.

^That is a VERY good question there. If it was Paypal, she can complain to them, and they'll generally refund her money out of your account. I hope she sent you a check or something?

^ESPECIALLY since the item has already been returned. I'm not too sure what the best approach is in this situation.

^ UGH...I didn't even think of that. Of course, she could request PayPal to refund her...and they would contact Farrah...at which point Farrah would point out that the dress is more damaged than when it was sent out. If she has those pics of the before and after...that'll really help her.

Yep ladies she paid through Paypal ! She purchased a Pucci skirt from me about a month ago with no problems. Which is another reason I agreed to a refund. I have the strangest feeling that she has done this before. Fuck I feel so screwed ! I'm wondering if I should also contact Paypal regarding this. But as we all know Paypal is owned by eBay..SHit now I'm stressing out again !

I do have pictures of the dress before it was sold and I can also get a statement from my cleaners, if need be. Do you think that'll do any good ?

YES! I would fight this refund. Let her know that the item was not returned in the same condition and you are not able to offer a full refund.

uhhh never have refunds.... Your feedback should be enough to say what kind of seller you are. Also, What does her feedback look like. If she has bad feedback that I would just send her the item back and if she gives you negative feedback you can just reply " Look at her feeback don't do biz with her"

Wading in with my 2 bits!! How much money are we talking about?
You know Paypal will refund her money.
You know she will leave Neg FB.
For you're stress levels, I would suggest you refund her money and change your listings re refunds for future sales.
You could also post this situation on the Ebay forums.look at communities.I like Answer Center, quick response

Also some advice on future sales - dont sell to people with say less then 20- 25 reviews and if they have less then that they must write for your permission before bidding I had to do that on a bid once because I only had 3 at the time . Clothes would be tough to go back on and ya I could see her putting her size 16 arms through a size 10 dress lol .. some people huh ..

if you do post on the ebay forum I hope you use a posting ID. I found out the hard way just how brutal some of them can be. I can see them now pouncing all over you demanding to know if you can authenticate your vintage pucci, keyword spamming blah blah blah and also, competitors like to "report" auctions. Bah.

Allways ALLWAYS take pictures of your objects in packaging before mailing. Use a disposable camera. Saved my ass SOOOOO many times.

If you have High Feed back you have little to worry about.

Yipes! Yep, Paypal almost always sides with the buyer. They'll refund her. It's up to you hon, if you want to do it yourself, or let Paypal refund her. I would most definitely blacklist her so that she can't bid on your auctions anymore. I had to do that with a few buyers (who were NPB.. grr)

Just change your future auctions, and J actually had a very good idea with restricting your auctions to those who have 20 or more feedback history. I'd say at least 5 feedbacks.

or withdraw everything from your paypal account and just start a new one. I don't know how much $ you're talking about here. This is Pucci after all.

My ebay profile has over 1000 posi feedback with only 2 negs.

Each one of those negs were just like this, and the reason i shut down my Ebay store.

There is NO protection from psycho buyers like this provided from ebay.

    None.

    Let it go.
    Take the loss.

whatever you do,DONT DONT DONT pay 30 bucks to safe harbor to mediate!!!!!!

They are NOT NOT NOT Ebay and can only help if both parties agree.

WTF do you need or want with a mediator if both sides agree???

    Just let it go.

Repair the dress, tack on the price to the original asking price, and put it up for bid again.

Its NOT worth it,you wont win,at least not to your satisfaction.
