I used to be a psuedo-vegitarian. I ate fish, dairy, and eggs. Did that for five years for no peticular reason. About a year and a half ago I was at Del Frisco's in Vegas for a bacholorette party and what happens in Vegas... you know the rest.

Funny thing I learned during those five years was that everyone would justify thier eating habits to me... like I cared. I'm not really health or eco concsious, I like Cheetos and I own leather pants, I just wanted to see what it was like not to eat so much meat...

That's what I'm trying to do now...I'm on a "diet" so I decided to cut meat out. Today I broke down and had the worst meat choice I possibly could though...a hot dog! It was so juicy and delicious...

I am an omnivore, but I don't eat red meat, pork or processed foods. Basically I only eat seafood, poultry, and things that you can find in nature such as fruits and veggies, and whole grains. I feel that if you can't find a food in nature, then its not really meant to be eaten. Personally I find that this diet is best for me to keep a lean toned physique. I find that it is very easy to control my daily caloric intake if I eliminate all processed foods, and red meat and pork.

I eat everything EXCEPT red meat and chicken. I would die without cheese... I add it to EVERYTHING I have reduced the amount of dairy I have in re: yougurt and milk. My cheese consumption hasn't increased or decreased... it is just alot. I may have a craving for chicken once a month or every few months and even then I can only eat a little bit. I have fish (or seafood) once a week. I've reduced the amount of bread I consume - whenever/where-ever possible I will eat rice cakes (with hommus dip spread on it, layered with spinach leaves, tomato and cheese... then every so often some smoked salmon.. YUM!) over bread (even something as simple as jam and butter on rice cakes).

I do not eat meat coz I went off it. That's all there is to it. Whilst I may find the smell appealing, it doesn't make me hungry for it. I really do not miss eating it. There are just so many other options out there for me that I can easily go without.

    Almost-vegan (I eat free range vegetarian-fed eggs).

I eat a poached free range egg sandwiched between 2 pieces of whole grain or millet toast with a slice of soy cheese and a soy latte for breakfast. Lunch is usually brown rice and veggies and maybe a flax waffle or some olives or nuts and a soy yogurt or kefir.. dinner tends to be blue corn tortilla chips with a fresh avocado and garlic (home made guacamole) or pasta and marinara

Eating out includes chinese (veggies and tofu), thai (tofu veggie panang curry), italian (anything with marinara or veggie pizza), or ruby tuesdays (brown rice and veggies)

Omnivore, I will eat just about anything. And probably try anything at least twice. First impressions can be deceaving when it comes to food. Some of the smelliest stuff, tastes absolutely amazing. mmmmmm, Stilton cheese.

I eat fish and dairy - no eggs though, I don't like them. But other than that, no meat. I have eaten this way for almost 10 years now, for ethical reasons, not health reasons.
Unfortunately, I can't say I eat healthy - mostly carbs...which I know I have to cut back on. I am thinking of trying South Beach, but I want to do a little more research first to see if there's enough on there I can actually eat (i.e. non-meat foods).

I've been vegetarian for 5 yrs now. I only eat cheese and yogurt. As soon as I can afford it, I'm going totally vegan.

I rarely ate meat for many years, and then I married a vegetarian, her vegetarianism didn't last as long as the marriage did but I still love all those heathy veggie foods....

Total omnivore. I grew up eating a lot of meat, a lot of veggies. I'm even all about going out and getting said meat myself. *blamo*

The only thing I will NOT eat, and I dont care how starving I am, is eggs. I just hate the taste. Heh.

I eat a lot of everything, as much as I can. Rawr.

Omnivore - although I avoid junk food of all descriptions. I always try to get good quality food - be it cuts of meat, vegetables, etc.

One good tip - if you've got an Ikea store near to you check out the food hall - it's by the exit. If they're like the ones in the UK, the food is of very good quality indeed.

And as a by the way comment - a friend of mine is Swedish. They put jam on everything.

In the UK we eat pancakes with sugar and lemon juice - she serves hers with cottage cheese and jam. Similarly, if she serves rice with the main course, there's a pot of jam on the table so you can put it on the rice! (I have to say I rather like it.)

Jam on rice?? Wow, I wonder if I should try that... I hear in Brazil they treat avocados like some fruit. They make avocado milkshakes and smoothies. When I told my Portuguese teacher that we put avocado in burritos or just eat it with seasoned salt she was grossed out.

I was vegetarian, then vegan, then fall over anemic. Then again anemic, after shots, pills, etc. I suck at health with vegetables. Now I'm on a moral vacation, eating some fish and poultry until I can finally get bloodwork that comes back with normal iron/B12. Though then I plan on going back to veggie, but maybe a little more conscientiously next time.

    Paige,

*Blamo*, that's great. It is hard to find a beautiful woman that is willing to go out with a "big pointy stick" and chase down Bambi or Thumper for dinner. lol

It's not that I don't love animals. It's just that they taste soo damn good with a little gravy. lol

Oh and Bunny, your an Omnivore. They eat anything. Herbivores eat plants.

I was raised that wearing and eating animals was part of our way of life as humans. *shrugs* I grew up going on a lot of hunting parties with my father, cousins, and uncles, fishing with the dad figure, and most of the Italian women in my family wore leather and fur, and so did I (when I could afford to). Not that I dismiss anyone else for choosing otherwise in action and morals, but I just see it as natural for me to do.

    Paige,

It's good to see that it didn't turn you the complete opposite. I grew up like that as well, so it is natural to me too. But I have met many a "lady" that grew up the same way, and it turned them the other way.
