    Default zinc for acne!

How silly could i be? All these expensive treatments and drug therapies, and it came down to a 4 dollar bottle of zinc picolanite!

I Tried everything, and although accutane seemed to work along with bluelight, and benzaclin and doxy..... Nothing works as well as ZINC!

I SUGGEST TO ANYONE suffering with acne to try it! for 4 bucks, you can't go wrong!

I wish someone suggested this to me a long time ago!

Do you use it to prevent acne, or as a spot treatment?

oh, be careful not to take too much... I take 50 mg a day. You can take up to 30mg 2 or 3 times daily though. If you take too much it could weaken your immune system.

Oh, you take it interally! Here I am thinking it's a topical treatment! Thanks for the FYI. I think I'll give it a try. My skin is in pretty good condition but whatever I can do to make it even better, I'll try. How long did it take you to see results?

I knew about that years ago, but I was told to use it in soap form, some old "volcanic" soap. I never could find it, but the zinc sounds good in pill form.. Only problem is the klast time I took zinc it was to help with sickness and it just made it worse (and it was supposed to help!) So I guess we shouldn't mess with it if we are sick.

That's what I was wondering too...I'll have to look at the store to see if there are different kids of zinc.

Yes, I knew this already and it did nothing for me... unless I wasn't taking a high enough dose. I will try a higher dosage next time though.
I also have this zinc cream from Brazil I dab on a zit I get. Works ok.

Avoid idione(or anything else that contains it) salt girls. It's bad for acne & rosacia skin.

The original post said something about "zinc picolinate", which may be different than regular zinc.

OK - I just googled "zinc picolinate" and from what I understand, this form of zinc is the most easily absorbed by the body. I also read that zinc picolinate helps in fighting and preventing disease, helps metabolism, growth, and the immune system, and even helps in fighting macular degeneration (eye disease that causes blindness).

Sounds like it has a lot of benefits.

It says that 15 mg is 100% of the RDA.

zinc picolinate also helps against wrinkles.

Yes, it is the easiest absorbable zinc out there. As far as dosage for acne, i read to take 30mg two or three times a day. I wouldn't do more then that because 15mg is 100 percent of your rec. daily allowance for the "average" person.

OK, TFD, you've convinced me to try it. I bought some zinc today while I was in Wal-Mart. But they did not have the zinc picolinate they only had the glutonate version. Emily, it is still zinc but it is not as easily absorbed as the picolinate. Since I didn't have any options, I picked it up anyhow.

I found this info on a supplement site: The picolinate form of zinc is most easily absorbed. Next are the citrate, gluconate, and acetate forms while the
sulfate form is the most poorly absorbed.

As I took my HAIR vitamin today, I noticed that it has 15mg of zinc glutonate in it. So, coupled with my 50mg pill of zinc, I'm taking 65mg. I wonder if that might be too much?

no.. You are fine. You might want to add some copper though to stay on the safe side.

I take 90mg daily of zinc.

I also tried to find zinc picolinate, but was unsuccessful
I looked in CVS, Eckerd, and Wal-Mart, but they only had zinc gluconate and zinc sulfate. I am going to try to look online to see if I can order it that way. If I find it, I'll post a link.
