Default Thoughts on my business idea - Frisky Fitness

So, I am in the beginning stages of opening a fitness studio in Dallas, Tx. One that specializes in pole dancing and stip dancing (for learning or for fitness). I am fiddling with a name, but thinking somethink like "Frisky Fitness". This post is basically to see how many of you girls would like to get into the field of this. If this is something that I could find my employees/instructors by going to strip clubs and recruiting girls.....(fyi---this is not a wanted add, don't send me your job application or anything, I'm just throwing out there for any dallas area gals that might be interested, to let me know.)

If you want more info on the type class I'm talking about, check out these sites:

I live in DFW and the idea of having a studio nearby like that totally rocks.... if you want an idea of how to find instructors.... go to local fitness/bodybuilding competions, lots of women I compete with are also dancers and in great shape!

PM and I'll let you know when somemore are coming up, plus this way you could appeal to 2 markets based around the same idea.... wearing very little

Good Luck and We'll all have our fingers crossed for you!!

thanks for the idea of going to compitions! my main hangup in my idea is that I need to find at least 2 or 3 people that I can count on to help me in the very start of my business. Just of couple of people that could be my main instructors, you know. I am not a stripper, nor am I a body builder or any of that, so I'm going into this blind. I am going to a 2week training in CA from the SFactor that is the very beginning of their teacher training program. But its soooo expensive. Anyway, if you or anyone you know would be interested in teaming up with me, let me know.

    Hi Frisky,

I'm in the process of starting a similar business in Phoenix called Pole Divas. The website is still in production, you can view it at www.poledivas.com. It's more of a home party model (similar to Tupperware), so I won't have the studio overhead. I'm finishing up the LLC publication requirements now and hope to do the PR launch in the next few weeks.

Feel free to PM me if you want some more info. I've been researching this for over a year so I may be able to help you with some questions you have.

    Btw, love the name!

It's much better than any of the businesses I've come up with in the Dallas area: Condom rentals, Do-It-Yourself Massage Parlours, and Drive-thru urinalysis.
My latest conspiracy theory: I am convinced that Dick Cheney is, in reality, Elmer Fudd.

There is a business by the same name in Austin. Well, not really a business, but a woman who does the same thing. She has a website at www.friskyfitness.com. I would love to take her classes sometime b/c it sounds like fun and I want to learn pole-work. Good luck on your endeavors!

I dont mean to be negative but before you go investing in a business based on something that will likely be a short-term fad in the finicky world of fitness enterprises, why not sublet an underused studio from someone in your area?

    Hi,
I am Nicole the owner of Frisky Fitness in Austin, Texas. You may want to check into a name that has an unused .com and isn't copyrighted. You did ask about teaming up? I'm interested in speaking with you. What is your experience and background? Do consider this if you have no experience. Anyone can do Ballet as well. But would you want to take from somewhere like the New York City ballet or someplace teaching the hookey pookey. Why learn to be in a recital, when one could learn to be in productions. So dancing for a spouse or even a professional wanting improvement. Which would you take from real experience or odd claims trying to pretend it's the same? Either way most don't want to be laughed at. When they learn the wrong thing from someone claiming to know. If you find yourself in a class learning to take your clothes off with other clothes on top. You aren't learning to dance. Your learning the hookey pookey. This is a button-isn't striptease or pole dancing class. Your getting your money taken from the ones jumping on the "fad" bandwagon. And I tried this on my husband-isn't the same as interacting with thousands of customers through the years. Knowing what works on all types. I was perviously invited to teach classes where they wanted the ladies crawling across the floor to an empty chair. Then standing up and putting a high heel in the middle of it. Couldn't do it, cardio fun is cardio fun. From a far crawling can be sexy or high on a stage eye level. However, crawling up to a person sitting in a chair. At a certain point the body language is like a pet approaching. If your into S&M cool. If not bad move. Programming muscles to nail the poor guy in the crotch? Gees you go to dance and it's a logistical nightmare. It's true anyone can dance and anyone can teach dance but should they? The truth is the only qualified instructor has experience in anatomy, personal training, body work, teaching and dancing what they claim to teach-including interacting one on one with thousands of men. Being able to adjust your dance to an individual is really where it is at. Being a mimic of another woman instead of applying things in your own situation is not it. Striptease is an interactive dance experience, which then becomes improvisational. Who would you learn from tons of experience in that or someone with none in the given situation. The fun in classes come from the ladies themselves. We in general aren't as visual as men. To many of us this is foreign and quit funny. Who doesn't get the giggles considering response to a given action. Either way have fun and dance like no one is watching

This sounds like an excellent idea. I am in the DFW area, also, and would love something like this.

There are a few places around here that offer strip classes, but they don't seem to be geared towards people that are serious about dancing. Mostly it's just a lot of 50+ year old women looking for a bit of fun and exercise. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)

Also, remember to make these classes fairly affordable. The strip classes that i've seen are around $80 a month. (I'm not sure about anyone else here, but that's not really in my budget. $40/50, maybe, but not 80)
