have any of you ladies ever been on this anti-depressant? my doc perscribed me it because it has a low rate of side-affects but my main concern is if anyone has gained weight on this. any other side effects that i should know about? my last meds really put me out of whack so i want to hear others experiences before i start taking it

Note: You gain weight on ANY antidepressant. :3

I am not a lady, but was on celexa for a year. I gained a minor (5-7lbs.) amount of weight but was below weight to start. The only thing I noticed about it was that I could voluntarily fall asleep at the drop of a hat, if I so chose. I had no issue of involuntary sleepiness though.

gaining wait on all anti depressants is not true... im on zoloft, which is considered weight neutral, because it kills your appetite for a while, but wellbutrin is something that definitely kills your appetite. you're not supposed to take it if you have or have had an eating disorder, because it really does mess with your ability to read your body for hunger signs..

i've been on celexa, and i haven't noticed any side effects, even weight gain, which is unusual- i've been on pretty much every antidepressant and i've had a mad range of side effects. on one, i gained 20 pounds a month. on another, i slept 20 hours a day. one gave me constant migraines. another made me stoned off my gourd. so all in all, celexa is a pretty good drug! at least for me. my doc says everyone reacts differently. a great thing i've noticed, though, is that it hasn't decreased my sex drive in the slightest, which is a concern with some antidepressants.

After my divorce I went through a bout of depression and was prescribed several different anti-depressants (not at the same time of course) including Celexa, Wellbutrin, and something else that I can't recall at the moment. I don't recall any significant weight gain, but the sexual side effects sucked.

After a year of different drugs, I came to the conclusion that finding a good therapist who can actually get to the heart of the problem is 100x better than any drug. It may take trying several different therapists as it did with me. Once I found one that I could really open up to and felt like he understood where I was coming from, that's when I really made progress and I haven't taken an anti-depressant since then.

    Just my thoughts.

I've been on a couple of antidepressants and they all kill my appetite or don't affect it at all.

It worked well, one of the best I've tried, but I had no sex drive. I didn't stick with it.

I took it a few years ago. It worked in the sense that I wasn't depressed, but I was in a sort of emotionless, zombie-like state. It wrecked my sex drive (but it doesn't take much to do that!) and my appetite. It also kept me from sleeping at night, so my doc prescribed Trazodone taken at night to counteract it. There were also some minor withdrawal symptoms. Everyones differnt, though.

    Hi,
I've never posted here before, but I figure I may as well "come out" on a topic I know something about. I took Celexa for about a year and I had zero side affects. No weight gain, and no sexual side affects. I agree though that everyone is different. I liked Celeza a lot better than other similar drugs I've taken.
