Since IB is so small the only "big" hotel is the seacoast inn and from what i've heard it's not too bad. As for swimming, the water isn't the greatest since it borders TJ. Some people surf but a lot take the drive down the strand and go to coronado. Nicer beaches and hotels. Good luck.

For a clean beach with better water try del mar or la jolla. Del mar is really far though. Pacific Beach and Mission beach areas have some nice hotels as well as some "more affordale" ones. Its super busy down there by those beaches; alot of people this time of year. Those beaches always have people on them and it mostly young college students or families.

When I first moved to SD I lived in IB....it's actually not the best part of SD...but it's kind of got an old surf city charm to it. I agree with the others though..go up to Coronado or La Jolla. Or if you're military, the base on NASNI has a GREAT beach.
Ahh..missing SD....have a taco from Roberto's for me!

Hotel Del on Coronado. Great public beach!
I've heard that a good signiture sets you apart from everyone.

Never heard of it, sorry, but I heard Santa Barbara is the "Monaco of the US". Oprah, & Kevin Costner have homes there.
