Default Thinking about dancing-need advice please!!

Hi, I’ve been prowling around the site for a while and I thought I’d say hiya to everybody and bug you for some help. I’m considering dancing, but am in need of some major prepping tips!! What would you all suggest to prime myself for an audition in terms of getting fit (I’m slender but not as toned as I’d like), costumes, songs, how to handle a club atmosphere, overall mental prep. Thanks for your help!

If you've prowled around here you're way ahead of the game. Be sure and read on the Hustle Hut for tips on selling as well.

No amount of working out can prepare you for an entire night on those heels. Go ahead and buy some shoes and practice walking on them. For most clubs, fit is good enough to get hired. It's a myth that you have to have a model's body to work in most strip clubs. I would suggest that you definity not go out a buy a bunch of expensive costumes. What if you dance a couple of days and decide you hate it? What to wear depends on the club. Have you visited a couple of clubs you're thinking of auditioning at? What did the girls wear there? If there's no way you can visit first, just call and ask what their rules are as far as clothing, then get something cheap. Lastly, mental prep. The number one mistake most newbies make is they forget its a job. Yes, it's flattering to have a guy, or a bunch of guys sitting around you, buying you drinks, making you feel like the hottest girl in the world. But you can't pay your house fee, much less your bills with free drinks and conversation. You're there to work. If they're not spending money, move on.

best advice is to take everyones advice with a grain of salt. Its best to see everyones thoughts and ideas and then use the ones that work for you.

What you will find in this business is that no one really cares about what you make, or anything else. Its a pretty selfish business and its easy to get wrapped up in the bad mojo that happens in clubs.

Be yourself. You can make a lot more money by staying out of the bs. Dont hang out backstage or at the bar. You wont make any money. If I spend 15 minutes total backstage the whole night thats too much.

When you first start your best friends are the bartenders and cocktailers. They see everything. The DJ is usually off in his own little world. Bouncers have too many things to worry about. Managers are usually trying to make the owners happy or pretending theyre pimps.

Other dancers are your best friend and worst enemy. Youll always have some girls that like you and some that do not. It doesnt matter. Dont get into the bs and dont socialize a whole lot. Save that for the usual 4am wind down at dennys or ihop.

Youre going to hear every scam in the book and then some to try and hook up with you and get in your panties. read the stuff on the bluesite and youll be well prepared.

    Most important advice:
    1. Save your money. Put 1/3 in a savings account. Do not touch it. until youve quit dancing. 1/3 pays your rent, bills. 1/3 is your spending money.

    2. watch your money. cash out when you get too many 1's. try to reduce the thickness of your stack of bills. Change the 1's to 20's and then 20's to hundreds.

    3. Enjoy yourself and try to think of it as a role. Create a character and live in that character. Its easier to deal with the bs that way.

Wow Amy.. I'm really kind of shocked that there was no venom! Hahaha

Excellent advice. If I think of anything to add, I'll post it. I haven't had enough coffee to function yet.

Before I started dancing I looked into that site many times. It is good for a general overview but nothing will compete (In my humble opinion) with the advice given here from girls with a lot of experience, like AmyLynne, on very specific questions a new girl could have.

Guys that post here on the pink side tend to be "dancer friendly". Guys that post on the blue side, (aka the dark side), are not necessarily dancer friendly.

As it used to say on old maps; "there be dragons".
