    Default Stye?

Anyone ever had one of these?

A couple of days ago I got a headache and I felt around my forehead and eyes and noticed that when I pushed in a certain spot, it hurt like a bastid. The next day, something popped up that resembled a pimple. So I just assumed that's what it was and it would clear up in a few days or whatever.

Last night, it hurt so bad that I tried to pop it. I even took a needle to it and it didn't work.

It's really hard and sore. Blah. It doesn't obstruct my sight much, but I know it's there and I feel like Sloth (Goonies). Yesterday it was much worse, because my whole eyelid was swelled up. It's not so much today.

I did a little research with the symptoms on the web and came up with pages and pages of information on Styes.

Of course, if it gets really really bad I will see a doctor. But I would prefer to self-treat for something like this. I've heard that hot washcloths for 15 minutes at a time throughout the day will bring all the crap inside to the surface, causing it to drain on its own. So, I'm going to start that in a bit.

If anyone has had one of these, or know anything about them... What else works? A couple of pics are below so you can see where it's located. Not sure if they're good enough pics to get a close look at it, though. Any tips to hurry this process along are appreciated.

Rhia, I think styes are usually formed around the eyelashes due to plugged glands/hair follicles (bacterial infection). My dad had gotten a stye and that's where he got it.

You could have a clogged pore or hair follicle (looks like it up by your eyebrow??)...but don't ever poke that with a needle. As much as it hurts...if it is not ready to "pop" then you doing that could expose it to more bacteria...making it worse.

Ummm...here is a website that I found for natural cures. Hope it helps!!!

Ummm...yeah...a stye is when the infection is around the lash line/eyelid. I don't think what you have is a stye (unless I'm just not seeing it in the picture)...

Here's a link about the "definition" of a stye: http://health.yahoo.com/ency/healthwise/hw167057

But, even if you just have an ingrown hair/clogged pore/etc, you can still use the hot compress several times a day to help bring whatever is clogging it up. You could also use a zit cream to help dry out the pore...

I actually get tiny styes on a regular basis... they are usually gone within hours.

I didn't read the links that Venus posted but, keep flushing your eye out.
It will help keep the stye and your eye clean along with providing some temporary relief.

The soreness is pretty much gone today, and I put the washcloth on it for about 15 minutes before I went to bed last night. Now it's just the bump that's got a tiny head on it. A little bit of fluid trained out of it this morning, but there's still more to go.

So whatever it is, hopefully it's clearing up. I don't think it's an ingrown hair, because I know what one of those feels/looks like. Had plenty of those. And since it's not a pimple, I have no idea what it is. Oh well, I just want the effin thing gone. Hahaha

I'll keep the warm compresses going on throughout the day, and hopefully that'll speed the process of whatever this is along.

    Blah.

Since its on your eyebrow you dont have to worry much about makeup hurting it more. But if you get one on the eyelid make sure to alcohol your brushes, eyeliners and such.
The hot compress thing works well. Ive had a bunch of styes and some didnt go away for months.
If most OTC/home remedies dont work the doctor can give you stuff thats in an ointment or drops to help clear it up. Yes, and dont pop it ..it can spread and spread more infection..meaning you can get more of them.
Hope you feel better soon....I hate those suckers!

I've not had a stye since I was in my early teens. But as far as I know, VG is right, it's caused by infection by trapped eyelashes or infection within the follicle.

They hurt and itch, but they are pretty harmless. I reckon it should take less than a week to heal.

You could very well just have a deeply clogged pore. Don't try to pop it anymore. When you go to pop it, it may drain some of the fluid out...but you'll push the rest of it deeper into the pore...which can stretch the pore pocket and create a bigger problem because now it's in the extra wide deep pocket with a pinhole opening to get out of. Just keep the hot compresses on it several times a day...and maybe put some neosporin on it. If it doesn't go away within the next week...or gets worse, I would go see a dermo.
