    Default pole tricks/help!

    Hello,
    I am new to stripping, pole dancing, and computers. So, if I make a mistake in any of those areas, please correct and forgive me. My girlfriend and I have decided to learn pole dancing & stripping. We have a pole, a pole tricks vidio and an exotic dance vidio. We have been practicing as well as doinig pilates and weights. We are getting better on the pole, but are having a very hard time "sitting on the pole". I am not sure if we are missing something or just have to get used to the pain on the theighs. It is frustrating the both of us, not to mention the bruising. We also need sugestions on exersizes that might help us be able to the "splits"

    My background is in ballet, so I feel I can comment on the splits part.

    There is no exercise to help you get the splits. It's all about just stretching everyday. If you search for this on the internet, you'll be able to get all kinds of info on stretching. You just have to do it every day. Read this info on splits training.

    Bruising goes away after a while. Just give it some time!

    There is more to dancing than doing pole work and doing the splits.

    The only way to really stretch for the splits is by sitting with your legs in as wide a "v" as you can and just going down to the floor as far as you can without hurting yourself. Hold the stretch for a little while and then come up, take a breath, and then stretch again.

    Pole tricks...the only REAL way to gain strength is by doing the actual pole work. Pilates is great, but you'll build up muscles/strength a lot faster with weight training and just doing the pole work.
