for my first couple years dancing, there was a pole. then i moved to dallas and most clubs didn't have poles there. it was hard to get used to it but i did. then i moved back to cali and they have poles, so i had to get used to it again! it is hard but you will get used to it! if you have the option of a club that has one, maybe just try that instead?
i felt like a tool when i was trying to get used to no pole...after about 20 seconds i felt like i didn't know what to do now....but eventually i got more comfortable with it.
    good luck

We only have three stage poles at my club. With eight stages you learn how to do a lot of floor work. When I visited Dallas, the club I worked in out there didn't have any poles and didn't want you to do floor work. I didn't know what the hell to do with myself. After a couple of sets I figured out how to keep myself moving without looking too repetitive, but my thighs and calves killed me from standing and squatting so much.

You may have worked at my club! We have 7 stages total and NO poles! Its hard to really try to learn any hot stage routines becuase every third song is country and you don't know till the start of the shift what you'll be doing, also we only do one stage sets so by the time you get naked your almost done, the only good thing is I havn't had to go up more than once a night since I started.

I miss being at a club with no poles! It is strange to dance without one at first, but after a few nights, you realize that you have so much more room to work with. Some advice would be to wear slick thigh highs. With the stockings on you can slide across the stage with ease, and it makes your transitions smoother.

I'll be feeling your pain. I'm about to audition at a club which has two stages and no pole. In fact, you cant even use your hands on the ceiling because you cant reach it AND there is no wall at the end of the "runway" to slide down, etc. Most of the girls there seem to do more "nude modeling" than dancing in fact. I guess I cant really blame them. But it does draw attention to the girls that can do "tricks" like holding one leg up to your head without falling over. No one wants to feel high and dry up on stage without anything to do! If it helps at all, the worst thing the dancers there did was stand there and barely shimmy while staring ahead straight BORED AS HELL. The great dancers seemed like they were in constant search of customer contact, whether through smiling, eye contact, crawling towards a target customer, etc etc. When they permeated this fun attitude, I did not even realize that they werent "dancing" or doing tricks. Their attitude attracted my attention. sorry I couldnt help more with actual moves. at least this is temporary for you. Wish you much luck!!!

The first club that I worked at had not pole but it had a little place where you come out to the stage like about the length and height of a doorway and we would just use the walls to do our moves. I find floor work to include more movement so it works out your body more than doing just pole. Altough, pole work does take some major muscle.

I Used To Dance At A Club That Had Three Stages, And Neither One Had A Pole...i Asked The Management Why Because In My Mind The Pole Is Very Symbolic For A Stripclub...they Told Me That Poles Are Dirty Because The Dancers Are Touching Them...which Really Makes No Sense, The Floors Are Dirty Too...i Don't Do Many Pole Tricks Anymore..because Sometimes It Just Feels Like You Do Too Much Work For The Same Amount Of Tips On Stage...but I Definately Feel More Comfortable With A Pole....

I would suggest getting in front of a mirror and practice.... you can really put alot more into your stage show than one may think....put on some music and dance your little heart out and look at yourself in a mirrior and move slow and sexy ..you said you would'nt be able to do a lot of floor work but that does not mean you can't do any so ...do alittle....and I totally agree with ....tinygirl when she said "Some advice would be to wear slick thigh highs. With the stockings on you can slide across the stage with ease, and it makes your transitions smoother." a girl at my old club did this and she looked as if she floted across stage..she was our BEST dancer... good luck!!!!
