Default club managers with power issues

The dancers at my club are not allowed to dress when their shift is up unless our managers gives us permission to. It could be 2:30 (when the shift ends at 2) and we still have to ask for his permission. I was wondering if this is normality in every club. I understand that they have power issues, but he treats us like we're dogs.

3/4 of the managers I've worked with have major power issues. I think it is why alot of them get into this business to begin with, so they can try and control beautiful women that wouldn't give them the time of day otherwise.

Actually I find that to be true with alot of bouncers and DJ's too, not all of themofcourse but more than the fair share.

As for the getting dressed after your shift ends thing, yeah I have had a manager with that policy as well. I asked him once if there was a particular purpose in the policy and he fired me just for asking the question. I guess he didn't have an good answer !

Funny part was that two days later he called me and practicaly begged me to come back to work because one of my high roller regulars was asking around about where I went, if I had gone to another club etc.

I guess the manager didn't want to lose the customer but he did anyway because I refused to come back. I started working at another club and the customer followed me

Good for you! I'm glad you didn't let him take advantage of you. I'm just finding it hard to maintain a pleasant attitude when I don't have respect for the people I work for.

Yeah I have had a few dicks like that before too. But one of the things I love about the club I work at now is that if my last stage set is at 1:30 and I will not go up again; I can leave.

But I would'nt take that "you have to stay crap". If you are supposta leave at 2, then leave at 2. If he fires you, sue him. Well at least threaten anyway.

Alot of managers have power issues. Most will just make a rule if they dont feel that they have enough control.

want to talk about power issues I am sure I am not the only one who has been hit on by the manager/owner and sort of given the choise ,fuck me or get let go.Bad enpogh when its the dj or bouncer thats why when I find a club I like I stick with it for a long time and move only when I have to.I usually tell them to take a hike, but If I am doing really well in a club its hard to say no.

This is a good example of why so many clubs just scrape by. The owners and managers want power more than they want money. Instead of working, they're obsessing over everyone else's freedom. Stripclub-as-plantation management style!

hey hey hey their are still some good managers out their. HINT HINT! ( ME) but the stereotype is in play for good reason and i know that, as far as having to ask permission to leave after your scheduled shift??? UNLESS your running the maiximum amount of girl per patron ratio it is a must to ask. ENTERTAINERS have stereotypes too and one of them is that they dont care about anyone but themselves and most of the time do not care if them leaving is going to hurt the club. I don't believe in being a dick or a drill sergeant unless its called for . I use the persuascive tactics, offering less house or a couple drinks on me or just buttering them up with a kiss on the cheek and a please but it is important to ASK!

You do not have to ask permission to put your clothes on, or to leave when your shift is over. What's he going to do, beat you? Tie you up so you can't get dressed? You are a grown woman. He has the power to make requests, but nothing more than that.

Some of these guys get so absorbed in their little kingdom that they forget they're not the king. Remind them.

i again like to use persuasive tractics and although i am not king i am gfetting paid to run the club, if you came at me with that attitude or attempted to remind me im not king, i'd simply remind you were the door is. the type of attitude your reflecting might be acceptable in a small club mentality were an entertainer leaving is devestating to your girl count, but in your larger more lucrative clubs you need to respect the Management team as long as they are not violating any of the rules or laws and listen to what they are saying or suggesting because they have the BIG picture in mind. muah

I respect the management as long as they respect me. Ask me to stay a little later and provide a valid reason, and I will do it. But try and treat me like a bitch-slave, and I'm not going to put up with it.

Had a manager at my first club who used to come into the dressing room and scream at me to "Get off your ass and get out there!" when I was touching up my makeup (it takes five minutes and I do it after every stage show because I dance hard and sweat onstage). I will not be spoken to in that fashion. The same guy also used to demand that I hustle to sell a TWELVE-FOR-ONE special three or four times a night (that's right, twelve nude dances for $40). Trust me, he never got the opportunity to show me the door. My self-respect is worth more than his little ego.

I'm just saying that management needs to have a little respect for the dancers if they want to receive respect in return.

^^^^^^ i agree 100 percent! i take pride in treating my girls good, that's why i felt the need to speak for the few and far between of managers that realise that the girls are what pays my bills, but a unruly girl will be treated as such. disrespect and unprofessionalism is a disease that catches on quick if a manager does not stand his ground when the situation calls for action.

it depends on where you work..

I started at a VERY strict club where we had set schedules & hours, if we were sick or couldnt work on a day we were supposed to come in we were fined $200! No joke! We couldn't leave or even get dressed until we closed the place down & the owner said it was ok.

The next club I went to didnt have set schedules but you had to track down & find the manager to ask if it was ok to get dressed & go home (even though you had already worked your 6 hour shift) & most of the time he made you stay & work longer even if you didnt want to.. that is what eventually got me fired because I wanted to leave one night after my normal 6 hour shift (i was tired!) & they didnt want me to leave so they fired me! whatever.. the manager at this club also used to accuse me of being on drugs all the time (probably because I had anxiety issues) but I was never on drugs, he used to treat me like shit because of that, what an asshole.

This last club I've been at is so awesome, I love it. I don't even have to ask anyone to leave when I'm ready to go! (assuming I've put in required hours). Just check out w/the DJ & go. Everyone there is also very friendly (not stuck up).

SO it all depends on where you work.
