I just won my first eBay auctions yesterday and have three more pending! I got some sparkly rhinestone clip earrings (I have a torn earlobe and can't wear regular earrings), and a vintage choker with rhinestones and pearls. I'm hoping to win a set of pretty rhinestone earrings with a matching necklace, a pair of Baby Phat jeans, and a choker with long dangly strings of rhinestones. I like glittery jewelry!
Haha.. Girl, you're not the only one who's addicted. Trust me! I'm hopelessly addicted. If there's anything that comes up that I need, I hop right on there and go looking. Then of course, I find stuff that I don't need, but want. So I end up grabbing that and forget all about the stuff I needed. Heh.
eBay addicts UNITE!

YAY! I know...I bought a lot of 12 Gstrings...... -_-;
Rhiannon, where do you dance in Memphis? I grew up there and my whole family's still there. I've only been away a few years. I find I love Memphis a whole lot more now that I don't live there.![]()
Learn the bidding tricks on EBay and the addiction won't be so detrimental. I paid more than double the worth of an art print because I didn't do my research and bought the "rare out of print" sales pitch. Woops, expensive lesson.
after your first 50 or so auctions, you jsut go for stuff you need
but yeah, it's awesome. I love going to the mall and seeing something I want and hopping on ebay and getting it for half.
^LOL Emily.. I've been on there for about 2 years now, and I haven't slowed down yet. Guess I need a 12-step program or something.

i've avoided ebay at all costs b/c i know i'd be on it constantly

Also, you can take a look, and see who the last person who bidded was, and at what time they bid. Now, if this has been a 7day bid, and the most recent person who bid was 3 days ago, then your chances of winning this are pretty high.
Wait, wait, wait, then BID!! That is the best advice I can give, that will save you a bunch too![]()

LMFAO.. Same here, girl.. Same here.
I love buying on Ebay but being in Canada we have to watch shipping charges.I just paid $32.oo shipping and handling on a $9.99 item, still a good price to me but still excessive .
Also we have to pay GST(tax) and sometimes duty on any purchase over $20.00.
Silverandcold, don't have anything sent by UPS,they charge a high brokerage fee even if no duties are due.Have things sent by post, airmail is best. Raelene, a fellow Albertan
I started doing the Watch List. I only bid at the end of the auction and if I missed the auction then obviously I didnt need/want the item THAT BAD.
Hey Hon.. I'm most likely going back next month. I Haven't danced here yet, moved from RI in April. I'm looking at Platinum Plus though. So, we'll see. I love Memphis, although I"m not crazy about Midtown (where we are now). So once our lease is up, we're heading to a suburb.Originally Posted by Yekhefah
Spoken like a true Ebayer. This has always been my tactic too! Only problem is that you will occasionally end up bidding with another person in the last few minutes too and if you do win the auction, you could end up payin a little more than you want just because you're caught up in the heat of a last-minute bidding war!!!Originally Posted by cinammonkisses

Or you could just find exactly what you want and use the "Buy it Now" option if it's avaliable.
I have bought tons of stuff really cheap using that, and ended up paying less that someone else did on the auction.
Another thing you can do is limit your search to a certain area. Like I usually limit myself to North America only, and items ending soonest. That way I won't have to wait ages, then forget about it, or have to pay out the ass in shipping from Cambodia or somewhere like that.

Haha, that siggy rocks!!!^ I wish you could see the stuff I have for sale, gorj, quality, & cheap! When I can get set up I'll try to list it. It's to hard to lug stuff around to clubs to sell. <tempted to send Rhi a few pics>

Not if you wait like 1 minute until. Or, bid an pretty high price for the item, then they still can't get to the top. I WOULD NOT recommend doing this unless there is like 1 min or less on the clock!Originally Posted by Malibu
I avoid bidding wars...I learned my lesson from that after wondering why I was losing.

Lol, I saw that on one of those little suction cup signs you put in cars. It was at the local store at the register, and I thought it was fitting.
The other one, is a quote from my hubby. He's a writer, well a starving one anyway....
This is what I do 9 times out of 10. In your options sidebar, you can tick the box where it says "Show Buy It Now Items" (or something like that). Your search will only return things for immediate sale.Originally Posted by kitana
I also have to remember to tick the boxes for "US Only" and "US Funds". I get too many results from Asia. When I bought my Sims 2 set (Sims 2, and University), I saw that the guy was in Virginia. I overlooked the item location. It was Asia. Though it all worked well in the end, I'd prefer not to deal with sellers who live in the US, but ship from overseas. It's pretty neat though, I have a stamp from Thailand, and the retail box that the Sims set comes in is all in Chinese. Hahaha. I got it for a GREAT deal though. The brand new set of both games - $25.99, $15.00 shipping & handling. I got it in 6 days. So I ended up spending what I would have in the stores for just the Sims 2 (not including the expansion pack).

i love eBay! and please don't bid 3 days before the end- not only is it unproductive, it just drives up the price and screws all the other potential bidders..... if we all waited, everything would be so much cheaper!
