    Default Mafioso?

I was discussing my job with my mother and she tells me she used to date Mafia. Anyway, she was telling me about how the Mafia ran nearly every strip club in the world so I was probably working for the Mafia in a round-about way.

I know for certain I've had Mafioso customers. One guy comes in wearing Hugo Boss suits (saw the label), has two cell phones, tells me he works in 'importing and exporting' and has slicked back hair and once gave me a dirty look and said to 'watch out' because I saw too much (when I noticed he had two cell phones by watching him).

Now I'm reading Mafia books written by FBI agents. And here comes my wonderous paranoia.

Has anyone had any runins with the Mafia at the club? Whether they be your superiors or customers? Like, obvious Mafia, I mean.

Of course we know mafia doesn't exist.

Not all clubs are mob-owned... but then again, there are many different mafias. Italian, Russian, Turkish, Chinese, Japanese, Korean... lots of em.

Most folks who know mob people dont talk about it.

Do the Hell's Angels count as Mafia?

I just saw "The Godfather 2" so this tickles my Jack Ruby-bone. In an exact count, they cannot own them all but yes, varied illict activity can be laundered through nightclubs, not just SCs.

I knew of one man who claimed to be part of a big Family (he loved his regular girl!) but I ain't talking! Nooooo. In fact, I didn't see anything.

PS I bet some of the "mobster-acting" custies are wanna-bes. No real mobster flaunts it- can't stay around for long that way.

I know they don't talk about it which is why I was hoping for generalized stories.

    Besides, Mafia doesn't exist.

the SC I frequent is clear of mafiosos...Though rumors abound, the owner of the club is an "associate" of mafiosos. However, as you said, mafia doesn't exist.

I don't know what you are talking about at all....

The only gangsters I see are on the old mob movies on TV.

    Thumbs down Re: Mafioso?

According to LE most clubs are mob owned or you have to get permission from the mob. Deja Vu is the Mob! No doubt about it!

If you do not know if research who owns it with the ABC and find out who owns the property and so on.

In San Francisco it's Lusty Lady all dancer own and run including the property, the O'ffarell Theater and Crazy Horse and that's it the rest are all Deja vu .

Your will most likely never see the real owners of these clubs like Mohney and Forbes of Deja vu.

My dad works with a guy whose dad is Mafia. He always would offer to help his son "make tons of money," blah blah blah, and my dad's coworker would be like "thanks, but no thanks." I think his dad just finally got out of prison or he may be still in there. He's been in and out several times. He didn't have anything to do with strip clubs as far as I know but then again, I don't know much other than he's involved in organized crime. I don't think he's a flashy looking guy at all, just an old dude who keeps going in and out of jail. The way my dad has described it all it makes it sound very unglamorous. And his coworker is happy just working his regular job because he sees the shit his dad goes through. So yeah, people know he's involved with the mafia but he also doesn't stay a free man for long.

I worked at a club that I am sure was affiliated with the Russian Mafia. The basement/office part of the club looked just like an office straight out of the Godfather. I thought it was totally cool.
But I didn't see anything of course, because what Mafia?

I'm sticking with the official line: there is not and never was any such thing as the Mafia.

lillith, that guy sounds more like one of my friends having fun than a mobster. mobsters don't tell you you're seeing too much, they tell you you're a cute little thing, and they need one phone for business and one for the wife. they don't say they're in importing and exporting, they say they own a butcher shop, or work in an office, or work for a lawyer, and remind you again that you're cute, to distract you. they don't wear anything that everybody else doesn't wear. and they don't slick back their hair if they're the only ones doing it. the mafia has to blend in- they don't exist. if they didn't blend in completely, wouldn't they have to exist? wouldn't we all know who they were?

The Greeks own many clubs here in Texas. Some want to call them mafia, I say they're just keepin it in the family.

Was going to ask the same thing. all ethical questions aside, you probably won't have any trouble with mafia/ HA if you keep your nose clean (so to speak).

Besides which... flashy guys with stereotypical mafioso looks who are uber-paranoid are way more likely to be wannabes and lackeys than the real deal. The real guys are smart enough not to be so f'ing obvious.

A few years back, a club was opened that was run by a bunch of guys who rode motorcycles and all wore the same neato jackets....we ended up in a bit of a war with them after we went out there on a call. Seems they were making some dancers do things they didn't want to, and taking pics. Got real interesting when the president of the chapter came out swinging a length of rebar at us. Yeah, he took the ride.

Anyway, they decided to get out of the club business after a few more 'incidents'. Two other clubs in the area are rumoured to be laundering money for the bent-noses. Amazingly enough, those clubs NEVER get looked at, even though everyone in town knows about the drugs and extras going on there....

Even if it isn't 'The Mob', there's always someone who has an interest in the club who isn't a nice person. It may be an owner, or it may be someone who just handles their business in or through the club.
