    Default R.i.p

my cat of 15 years, we had to put to sleep cause we found out he had cancer in the throat area, and we didnt want him to suffer. i will miss him alot. if i had a pic of him i would post it but i will have to find one and then post it for u to see him. its hard on me and my mom. we are now down to two cats we have they are going to miss him, he was there buddy and play partner too.

have u had to put a pet u loved to sleep or has a beloved pet has died? how did u take it? was it hard for u?

I'm so sorry to hear about your cat. I have lost many of pets over the years and I still think about them from time to time.
Maybe you should adopt a new kitten/cat so your other 2 cats don't take the loss so hard.

I had a cat called Fudge, rescued from a friend who didn't like her. She always had trouble breathing and it transpired she had a torn diaphragm. The operation success rate was 50/50 so I took the chance rather than know she'd die 100%. Sadly, her liver was up in the space caused by the tear, along with her intestines and even though they dosed her on antibiotics the toxic shock from the liver killed her. I didn't cry the first day as I was working but I cried for the next 2 days solid and thought I could never have a pet again incase it died. However, I did get another cat and now I'm OK, I'm over it.
Hope this helps you see that time heals, even though you're hurting now.

I'm sorry to hear that. We had to put my dog (Sam) to sleep last November- she was 15 as well. At the same time this was going on, someone shot my cat (Kato). It's really hard (especially when you get so close to the little furballs), but it will get better over time. It's been almost a year, and I still cry sometimes when I see their pictures.

    I'm so sorry, ELB.

I've been there more times than I want to remember. One of the saddest was when I had to put a 9-week old puppy down (lab/chow mix) because I had gotten her from the shelter. They raided a backyard breeder. The puppy had 47 ticks on her (not including the heads that were still dangling on her). A few days after I took her home, she couldn't walk all of a sudden. I took her to my Vet (who was excellent), and after numerous blood tests and IVs, they found that she had "Tick Fever", and it had progressed too far to save her. Seriously broke my heart. We didn't have her but a few days, and we had to put her to sleep.

Sorry to hear that, thats so sad i love cats- I just got a kitten (Roxy)a couple years ago, so hopefully i have her for a LOT more years.

But over the years i lost many pets. My dad got rid of one of my cats when i was staying the night at a friends house when i was like 15. Ive had a cat who had HIV for kittys (FIV) and lots more

I could not remember how many animals (some pets) i have had to have put down. The most recent was a Boa Petra that i rescued, mine. My Vet. fought hard, and after 2 surgeries all seemed ok, but the animal crashed after a month of fighting.

This just happened less than 2 weeks ago.

I hope you'll go get a shelter kitty- a wonderful way to honor a beloved pet is to give your love to a animal who needs a chance too.
There are happy stories with pets- my friends have dogs and cats that have lived to almost 20 years, and parrots & turtles frequently outlive their owners.

    aww...i'm so sorry!!

my dog Ralph had to be put down about 8 years ago due to old age, i then got a younger version of him(beagle) and we named her Misty but she died a few weeks later b/c she had heartworms and we didn't know. So my grandparents bought another beagle and called it Misty #2. she's getting old, but hopefully i won't have to put her down for a while b/c i don't know what i would do without her.

my little brothers dog just passed on July 4th for unknown reasons. He was a great dog. A german shepard who was trained to not only smell drugs but to alert us when my brother was having a seizure(he has autism). we think he was poisoned since the neighbors and my family are fighting and they never liked the dog. I hope the pain of this loss will go away soon b/c i hate feeling so sad whenever i think about him. I haven't gone back to see my family b/c i don't think i can face the fact that he's gone.

Since my quote thing isn't working, I'll just do this:

MadMaxine: I hope you'll go get a shelter kitty- a wonderful way to honor a beloved pet is to give your love to a animal who needs a chance too.

Wonderful idea, Maxine. This is what I suggested to my mom after Sam died. I told her they should go to a boreder collie rescue and get a puppy from there!

I'm so sorry to hear about your kitty. I had to put my poodle to sleep when she was 12 and it was awful. Then I got my Maltese who is now 11 and keeps having health problems. I freaked out when I had to hospitalize her for a weekend so when her time comes I'm going to be a basket case. I sure wish animals lived longer

Oh God. The number of bunnies and fish I've had die. I know bunnies are no kitty... But I know how you feel. No one lives forever, at least she had a good life and owner! I had a sick ferret recently, I got her surgery and I'm worried it was unsuccessful, I don't know yet though. I would definately recommend getting another pet as soon as you're ready!
