    Default Outfits, Shoes in SF?

All right, y'all, I've worked up the nerve and I'm gonna do it this weekend! I got my hair done yesterday and tomorrow I'm doing my nails, and Friday or Saturday here I go. I just need an outfit and shoes. Where do you find them in San Francisco? I saw a lot of sex shops but no stores selling shoes or clubwear. Maybe I'm a little spoiled by Hollywood Blvd. but there just doesn't seem to be anything around. Any tips?

There is a shop on Sutter between Polk and Van Ness. Sorry I don't remember the name.
They sell shoes on the first floor and outfits & accesories on the 2nd. Be sure to ask for a dancer discount. Good luck and let me know which club you end up working at.

There is Felicitys above Foot Worship (which sells dancer shoes) at sutter by polk. On polk, by sutter there is Lucious Wear run by a pushy korean woman.

Rubydolls on grant by vallejo in north beach has a rack of stripper outfits (cheaper than felicitys).

If you live by LA by any chance, go to the eastern part of hollywood blvd by wilcox, there are at least 6 dancer shops all bunched together there and it's cheaper than SF too.

I do live in L.A., and I actually live about two blocks from there so I know all about those shops! But I won't be heading home for another month or two. So I've got to find something up here.

Thanks tons for the tips! I'll check it out. And definitely thanks for the heads-up on the dancer discount.

If you do end up in SF there is a shop on Height n Ashbury somewhere called Piedmont, I believe. It's a small front door that opens up into stripper heaven. They have seamstress's there that just keep churning out slutty clothes of all sorts. (Keebler stripper clothing making elves maybe, I've never seen them.) Jewelry and accessories too. No shoes, but the whole street is lined with shoe shops.

Ooh! I love Haight-Ashbury. Damn pity I didn't know about it, I was just there the other day. Thanks!

Felicity's Fetiche on Sutter between Polk and Van Ness is great for outfits (including gowns), IMO, but the shoes downstairs at Foot Worship are overpriced. If you shop at Felicity's, make sure to not only ask for your discount, but to get the rewards card, which entitiles you to a double dancer discount once you spend like $500. There are places with more competitive prices, but as far as the selection offered, this is my favorite. (Plus, the gal that runs it is super sweet. Ask to look at catalogs if you don't like what's available.)

Ruby Dolls on Grant between Vallejo and Green is my favorite for shoes. There is no dancer discount here because they claim to sell their stuff at wholesale prices. I don't complain when I'm paying $50 for a pair of work shoes. That's pretty good for me. (I know, there's better prices online, but I hate waiting.) There is also a selection of outfits, but they're pretty cookie cutter, IMO. Good place for mini-dresses, skirts and cute bikinis. This boutique also caters to a mainstream clientele, so there's handbags, jewelry, jeans, tops, dresses, skirts. One stop shopping...

Double Pleasure on Broadway at Montgomery (right next to Broadway Showgirls) is another okay shop. I have found the occasional gown there and my best friend loves the type of bottoms they carry. The prices are comparable to that of Felicity's. I don't like alot of stuff they carry, but I go for less complex outfits. They also have shoes, but I would stick to Ruby Doll's for shoes.

Piedmont Boutique on Haight by or near Ashbury is, at the very least, interesting. I have a hard time sorting thru the racks of brightly colored animal print feather boa adorned sparkly pride parade wear. But that's just me. One big plus for me is that they have a seamstress, so (and I haven't asked) one would hope that you can get true custom outfits there. Another plus is the costume jewelry.

I have been to all of the above shops within the last week but must say Felicity's is still my fave.

Also (especially in the Haight) keep an eye out for other shops that may carry stripper items in addition to their other offerings. Most things in these stores can be purchased for much cheaper online or, as I have been told, in Vegas. Personally, instant gratification can be very gratifying, so I prefer to impulse buy and stay in my city.

I forgot about this place. What's it called...shit, who cares? Everytime we (my best friend and I) walk by that place (it's kinda in my hood) we comment to one another about how pushy that lady is. Here's an example (maybe a little overexaggerated...)

ME: I'm looking for a plain black gown with slits up both sides.
HER: Hmm...I don't have that, but...
ME: Okay, well, then, that was all I was interested in...
HER: *trips over herself to block the door* BUT I do have this bright neon pink bikini with skull and crossbones in neon yellow. Would look great with these striped tights...
    ME: Um, no thanks.

Also at the far end of Haight is Dalgeets. They sell stripper shoes (cheap) and some Leggs Avenue outfits.

i ADORE New York Apparel on Haight (couple blocks down and across the street from Amoeba Rekkids -- currently i think they are situated right behind a bunch of construction scaffolding) for my stockings and occasional panties/skirt to complete an outfit. i get my generic Leg Avenue thigh highs (that most places sell for $6-12) here for two bucks a pop. their outfit selection other than that is not terribly great, but you can't beat their prices for odds and ends.
