    Exclamation Getting Orginized???

I need some help. My main question is, to ask those who have a busy life, be it school, work, family, or kids, how do you keep your life orginized? Do you keep a daily planner, do you have a board up somewhere to keep everything? I need help keeping when I work straight, when things are going on at the kids' school, when appointments are, when bills are due, what the kids need for school, what groceries we are out of, what will be for dinner, and anything that the hubby needs or needs done. I work a totally different shift than hubby and on a couple days of the week I only have a half hour with the kids before leaving for work. I don't want to spend that time but spending quality time with them. I think that Daddy can handle writing anything that I need to know done after their bedtime or even my oldest daughter can write it down. My question is where though. Also I would like to have a aprox. time that the kids need to do things, like bathtime, picking out the next days clothes, reading time, ect. I have tried a cork board, but it became very messy with everyone just tacking things to it.

I have also had a problem being orginized. I have recently found out why and have started the medication that I need. I have adult ADD.

I think that any and all ideas will be helpful for everyone. I think that most of us have a busy life and would be able to spend our time more wisely if we were orginized.

Thank you to everyone that helps out lending your ideas!!

I don't need this because I can keep track, but a lot of people I know use a day planner.

I always try to write things down. I've had, but don't now, one of those suction thingies you put in the care windshield w/paper pad on it. I also keep a calendar over my puter w/important dates on it.

    Great site: www.organizedhome.com

They have printable planner pages that I LOVE and try the household notebook too. Not so much for the school stuff but you could use it for that. Also just run a google search for free printables; checklists;or organization tips and you'll find alot. Also www.checklists.com and www.parents.com have lots of checklists and pdfs.

NOTE: My husband and I BOTH have ADD. This works pretty well for me!

I use a big wall calendar. I write everything I need to know down on the wall calendar. I also have all of the exact same info on the purse calendar that I carry. Every week, I make sure that each calendar has the same info on it.

For my groceries, I have a shopping list on the fridge. When we are running low, or run out of, something, then it gets written on the list. I've made it clear that if someone does not write what they want on the list come shopping day, it doesn't get bought until the next time we go to the store.

I find that sticky notes are my friends. If there is something important that needs to be done...that is not "planned" I write it on the sticky and put the sticky on the mirror in the bathroom (or any place where I am at most often).

There is a pad of paper by the phone for messages.

I group all of my bills by due dates. Anything that is due at the middle of the month goes in one clear bin and everything that is due at the end of the month (or beginning of the next month) goes into another. On the 1st of every month, I send out all of the bills that are due in the middle of the month. On the 15th I send out all of the bills that are due at the end of the month/very beginning of the next month. I write the date and check number that the bill was paid with and then file those bills in an accordian file (easier to find come tax time).

I also have a "mail slot" in our home. Whoever gets the mail, no matter what it is, it goes into the mail slot (minus whatever mail belongs to them). That way, there is no problem with missing bills or important notices, etc. Junk mail hits the trash and mail that we do not want, but has any kind of personal information on it, goes into a "shredding bin". We pretty much shred everything here...and I do it a couple times a month.

    Hope that helps!!!

I found if you gotta make a list you are doing too many god damn things at once . Easier said then done create a system that works for you and dont overwhelm yourself .

I use a PDA, and also write notes on sticky notes or tear things I want to remember out of the paper and stick it in my bag.

This is a great time of year to try and get organized. Try looking around at places that cater to students for ideas. Bed, Bath and Beyond has all kinds of dorm stuff that you might find useful: Bulletin boards, caddies to keep things sorted, etc.

And of course, all office supply stores will have tons of planners, pocket calendars and the like. Probably on sale now!
