    Default Goodbye Gaza

This is the most heart wrenching thing I have seen in a long time.

The army, the people who live there, brothers and sisters.

Its like if the west side of town decided to remove the east side of town in any city USA.

No bombs,No guns.Just tears and hugs.

I have no side,I have a new found respect for all of them.

Im hugging my children and saying a prayer for both sides.

    God bless them all.

The PLO and HAMAS and friends aren't going to have shit to say about the Gaza strip now.

Personally, I suspect if Isreal is attacked from Gaza, it will become a free fire zone. The people who lit up Isreal from that location will have no one to blame but themselves too. They are truely free with no Isreali's and no army over there when it is all said and done. Will they know what to do with themselves?

It would be nice if it were true. The PLO has already gone on record last week saying that they don't care and they have no intention of stopping their nonsense. It's like when Israel made the offer to that scumbag Arafat giving him 97.3% of all the land he asked for and even STILL it wasn't enough. To these people, the only way there will be peace is if all the jews are driven into the ocean. Then there will be peace for about a week and then they'll find some other neighboring country to wage a war on.

I am a devout Zionist and I have cried lots of tears over this. It makes me sick. The other day I saw an article about it and I actually lost my lunch. I can't believe that Jews are doing this to other Jews, and all to reward the murderers and encourage them to kill more Jews! My eyes are getting wet again just typing this.

This has got to be the biggest tragedy for us since the Holocaust.

So they are pulling out of the Gaza strip. thats great, it doesnt take much to roll the tanks back in. And now they have no worries in lighting that place up with some ac-130's(i think we've sold those to israel).

Now for the people bitching about living there. They choose that, they cannot say oh well this was my father's father's land. No, the gaza strip was captured in 1970 i believe. The land isnt that great, and its damn sure not worth dying for.

There is a lot to say with justification on both parts.

However, Poo is in suspended animation for now. So we will just have to STIFLE, Edith!
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

The aims of Hamas have been constantly and clearly stated many times - the destruction of the state of Israel. They arent interested in an soveriegn Palestinian state while Israel exists. There will always be "strike and retalitory strike" situations and escalations in the region while Hamas exists.

Hamas is a guerilla organization, which by that nature exists and thrives through the secret or open support of a large segment of the populace at large. I suppose the theory and hope is that enough of that populace gets appeased by such instances as the Gaza pullout and the formation of a State of Palestine that true support for Hamas will dwindle to a point where they cannot sustain themselves beyond a few hardcore zealots.

Every occupant in that section of land through history, including the present ones, have gained occupany of their lands through terrorism, or armed conquest, or both. One latter-day exception - the Sinai peninsula, and indeed things have been, if not fully peaceful, at least quiet between Israel and Egypt ever since Israel gave back the Sinai. I hope it proves to be a precedent and not an aberration.

The irony here is, Arabs lost their "occupied territories" when they tried to crush the fledgling state of Israel and got their collective asses handed to them in short order--repeatedly too (1948 War of Independence, 1956 Sinai War, 1967 Six Day War, 1973 Yom Kippur War). And so now it's somehow incumbent upon the Jews to give up the land lost by myopic Arab despots? That's like us giving Mexico back Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and Southern California after we won them in the Mexican-American war. Oh, wait. That's right. We are giving them back, a little every day. Reconquista anyone?

That irony aside, there's no point in defending several thousand Israelis in fortified communities in a territory with 1.3 million Palestinians. That makes no strategic sense whatsoever. Free-fire zone, indeed, though it should be said that since Israel built their much-maligned defense wall around Gaza, there hasn't been a single terrorist strike launched from that territory.

Besides, you think this is something? Wait until you see what's in store for the West Bank or the Golan Heights.
Idealism is fine, but as it approaches reality, the costs become prohibitive.

Great point, CO. When I was a teenager, I had a brief but intense summer romance with a boy from the Golan Heights. I often think of him these days and wonder if he's still alive. There's no way to know.

I'm sorry, Rhi. This shouldn't be turning into Poo. I acknowledge this is prime fodder for deletion.

Well, this thread wouldn't be complete without the famous image below of just how much of the Arab's land the Jews/Christians and Israeli's have 'invaded' as the "scourge of the middle-east"

It doesn't matter if you're somebody in this world, it rather matters you mean the whole world to somebody.

why would he be dead? i think u all are overreacting a bit.

it is pretty sad for people who have to leave their homes but palestinians also have a right to claim their lands. ok it had to be done, israelis got their money to set up new homes - why such drama? the real tragedy is happening in dozens of other places all over the world but you dont see that on TV.

and this thread should definitely be in "politics" section. you cant open this kind of question and expect nobody to write about politics.

It's not "their lands." The land rightfully belongs to those who cultivated it, loved it, built their homes on it, and shed their blood fighting for it. And now they are being driven from it so that their murderers will be rewarded and encouraged to kill more of them. This is WRONG, it is shockingly and appallingly WRONG.

Sorry folks,I didnt mean for this to go poo.

I was just in awe at the self control of everyone involved and the mutual respect they gave each other until the outsiders came in.

Not looking at the poo of it,just the human interest.

There were people who cultivated the land, loved it, built their homes on it, shed blood on it, before 1967 and before 1948. They claimed the same things then. It's a sad history, with the tragedy belonging to whoever is currently being forced to move out at a given time.

This is an issue of sharing and of foreign political manifestos and ill-considered policies, desperation, greed, and personality inflation. Both sides are WRONG, as have been most others involved in the disputes so far.

Let's hope in the long run, say a hundred years, both nations will have found a creative way to live together, sharing what meager resources there are and banishing hate and 'apartheid' which predominates there now.
