Default Where do I get ready?

I'm planning to call and schedule an audition for this weekend... I'm so nervous! I don't mind the nudity and lapdancing and all that stuff, but the being on stage is scaring the holy hell out of me. I can't dance and I'm scared I'll look like an idiot. But I'll never know how I'd do until I try...

Anyway, will I be able to get all made up and ready at the club, or should I arrive already good to go? Will I be able to get a drink and put some makeup on in the club dressing room, or will I be expected to just show up and dance? I think some time at the makeup mirror and a vodka tonic would help me be a lot less nervous! How's it usually done?

They usually let you change in the dressing rooms beforehand. It's a good idea to look at the other dancers on stage before you go on. Dancing slower is always better. I'm sure you'll do great. Good luck!

Thanks! So nobody minds if I take 20 or 30 minutes in the dressing room to put on makeup and have a drink first? I assume I'll have to pay for the drink...

Try and do your make-up before you go that way you look your best when you walk in and they get their first impression of you.

it all really depends on the club.Alot of clubs (like the one where I work)want you ready to audtion asap. They normally have more than one appointment on the night they audtion.I would do your make-up and hair before you go to the club and just change there.Take 15 minuets tops in the dressing room. Before you go up to change ask if you can watch two or three other girls on stage to get a feel of what to do then go for it.

I have to go with FallenFairy69 on this one. It varies with the club. For instance, if you audition in the club I work in and you take more than 15 minutes to get ready, the manager gets really irritated. It is expected that anyone auditioning comes in with make-up and hair fixed ready to change into an outfit. Plus auditions are done before anyone dances (most girls come in to check out the club, then come back for an audition). But I'm sure it varies from club to club. Good Luck with your audition, and let us know how it goes.

It might not look good if you have too many drinks mind lol
When David Hasselhoff was born, the nurse said, "Holy Cow! That's David Hasselhoff!" Then she slept with him. At that point, she was the third girl he had slept with.

Thanks, everybody! So what if I have my hair and makeup ready, and I have a drink while I watch a dance or two? Should I tip while watching? I think one vodka tonic would improve my performance immeasurably - I'm a slutty drunk.

How would it be if I go in, introduce myself and say I'd like to audition, then ask if I can have a drink and watch a girl or two before I change into my outfit and go? Would that be okay? This is the Hustler Club in San Francisco, BTW, if anyone has insider tips.

Dont belive them Yek,you change in the DJ booth.

    heheheheheehh

    Ok ok

Just for a heads up,a dressing room is way territorial, like a mama bear to a den.
every counter space, plug, and seat may have a prima donnas name on it,if you can even find one open.

I would suggest getting 80-90% made up before you get there and just use the dressing room for touch ups and a place to seccure your stuff until you get a feel for the layout of the club.

Best of luck, hope ya kick ass.

If youre auditioning only and not working that night or dont plan on working that night then full makeup and have an audition outfit and shoes with you.

If you do want or plan on working that night bring everything as if it was a real night. Then get ready in the dressing room about 30min before hand depending on how long it takes you to do good hair and makeup.

I say come a bit early relax and chill out watch the other girls dance on stage. I like to come early to work so I can get into stripper-mode.

It is different in different clubs, but IMO it's better to come with make up and hair done,so you just touch it up if you need it when you get to the club. Some places won't let you change in the dressing room, but in the bathroom. It's better not to take too much time changing or having drinks when auditioning,it will make you look more professional to the manager. You can have a drink right before you come in there. After you are ready,go out to the main area and have a seat somewhere and watch the girls. The audition usually lasts about 2-3 minutes, some clubs a song, some clubs a set, however long that is.Just remeber to look happy and keep smiling. You'll be fine, good luck!

    Thanks everybody!

Guess I'll go to another bar and have a drink first, then go in. I'm nervous as hell. Got acrylic tips put on my nails yesterday and got a pedicure. Now I just have to go into town and buy an outfit and shoes, and hit the club!

Hopefully I'll do well and that'll make me feel better about being very harshly dumped last night.

    *sigh*

    i agree,its different everywhere.

But here something that is not different, the "show"starts when you pull into the parking lot.
The moment your in the custies eyes, your on "stage".

Your going to see alot of girls walking in with pj's on,curlers in thier hair, and no makeup at all.

Alot of times they walk right in the door past the custies in line.

Tacky and not to pro IMO.

I started work at Hustler too. The dressing room is tiny so it's best to do your hair and makeup beforehand.

The stage is round with lights around it (kinda cute) and like most topless clubs in SF, you have to cover your boobs when gathering tips at the stage side.

There is a 6ft rule when topless. It basically means you near the pole and away from the custy.

Floor dances are $20 and there is a min 2 for 60 dance room. There is a champagne room (aka the red tinted glass room) but most of the custies are young and they kinda expect some mileage.

The management is great and they did tell me that they want a clean club. As for drinking, the management doesn't allow you to bring a drink to a custys table. They should buy you a drink but in all honesty, when it gets busy, the service is slow and I would rather spend time hustling. Also the club offically closes at 6am but you can leave at 5am if you arrived on time.

Like I said, it's a younger crowd so less talk and more walk

I'm sure you'll do great. BTW, I'm the chinese girl with the british accent.

OMG, I saw you last weekend! I thought you were the hottest girl in the room but you were busy. We were checking the place out but nobody came over to talk to us and we were there about an hour. We would've spent some money too but we just finished our drinks and left. Pity you were busy.

I may be a bit late to chime in on this one, but I'll go with luvbuniz. Get ready BEFORE you show up to the club for your audition. There's nothing more frustrating to the house girls than someone taking dressing room space to get ready for an audition when they need it. And I mean this in the nicest way possible. The Hustler dressing room is about the size of a dressing room should be for a club with 15 dancers max per shift. I believe my best friend said there were 40+ last Friday night.

As far as drinks are concerned, there are so many bars right in the neighboorhood...why don't you consider grabbing a drink (or 2) at one of them? I have worked for the GM at Hustler long enough to know that he may not look too kindly on your needing "a few" before auditioning. Try grabbing a cocktail up the block at Impala or over at Sake Lab before you go in to loosen up. Plus, you won't be paying Hustler prices...

    Great tip.

Unfortunately I called Hustler today to schedule my audition, and whaddya know... THEY AREN'T HIRING. Fuck. So I spent a fortune on my friggin' nails for nothing. Oh well. As it happens, the job I'm on is letting me go on Wednesday, which is several weeks earlier than I thought. So I might as well wait until I get back to L.A. on Thursday and go from there. The clothes and shoes will be cheaper on Hollywood Blvd. anyway.

Anyone know a good clean club in L.A.? I'm blonde, pale, and untoned but the nine guys I asked gave me a sworn honest average rating of 8.5.
