    Overcoming Shyness for Audition?

Ok.....So I've finally decided to audition.....
I really want to dance and I'm VERY confident about my looks and my body. I've been practicing (in my shoes) dancing and lapdancing for what seems like forever and am FINALLY confident with my moves. My only concern is the audition and dancing on stage; Just thinking about it makes me nervous.....
The thing is, when I get nervous it is very obvious. I want to look as confident as I feel about my dancing; because for some reason, LOOKING confident makes me feel more confident....If that makes any sense. I've been looking forward to dancing and finally auditioning would be a real accomplishment for me (because I'm shy).....Don't laugh......I just want my audition to be a fun experience.
Does anyone have any tips for overcoming shyness/stage fright for auditions? Or anything that would help me deal with the nervousness so that I can actually consentrate on my dancing and enjoying the experience......

    Any advice would be helpful
    Thanks

honetsly I have been dancing for 4 months and I still get nervous on stage! I'm more confident lap dancing and working the floor than I am on stage. Howw funny is that. the first time I got up there i just made myself get up there and do it! don't worry what you look like just move slow and sexy.

If you can take your own music...take something that just makes you want to dance sexy. Move slowly...sensually...concentrate on just moving to the flow of the music.

You will not get over your nervousness for your audition, but you're going to do your audition anyways.

Some people, it takes WEEKS to get over the nervousness...some people never get over the nervousness...and some people get over their nervousness as soon as they hit the stage...you'll never know which one you are until you do it.

I just had my audition today and surprisingly, I wasn't as nervous as I thought I would be. I was nervous and my legs were shaking when I started. But once I got going I loosened. The dancers and the manager seemed super friendly and helpful.....I'm just glad I got through it....I start working tommow, I am so excited!

See wasnt so bad? A shoe didnt fall off or ya didnt fall off stage lol. What helped me before my 1st stage of the night was stretching, breathing deeply and picking my favorite songs.
Seems like you were comfortable and did just fine. Good luck with your 1st day!!

Bit late now - but for anyone else thinking of auditoning my top tip is find a smiling face in the crowd.
There'll always be a couple of guys smiling at you just smile back and have fun, it makes it less scary .

And weirdly enough I prefer private dances to being on stage (even though sometimes I get payed more for being on stage).

I am so nervous about auditioning. This summer I didn't have to go through any of that. I filled out the paper work, got the rules and started all in the same night. I did ok (of course i was nervous) but my friends were already working there so that made it fun. If i do it here in nashville, I know that i will probably have to audition and I am extremely nervous about the whole process

My boyfriend gave me some great advice regarding stage dancing - he said to just pretend I was in bed with him and my hands are his hands. I tried it last time I was at the club and it worked great for floorwork - I can roll over on my knees and pretend he's underneath me, or lie on my back or side and run my hands around myself pretending he's touching me. It makes me feel very sexy and the other girls who were watching said it looked that way too. I'm definitely going to try and do this from now on.

And Citychick, you're not weird at all. I much prefer private dances too. I feel more comfortable with a medium-high mileage lapdance than being up there onstage by myself!

For alot of girls, like me, pre-stage jitters never really goes away, but once your up there the fear fades because your too busy doing it to worry. I've heard somewhere it's that way for rock stars too.

My first tip to you is to buy a pair of boots with a chunky heel! They are more supportive and easier to dance in. Then you can move up to the horribly painful shoes in a couple weeks lol! As for a name...there is a list if you look under one of the posts at the top of this forum! They should help out. It doesn't have to be really exotic, maybe just something you've always wanted to be called instead of your real name!
Don't be nervous, there is nothing to worry about! I was so nervous i made myself sick for my audition and my first night! I still get that way before work and i've been there for a week now. It takes time to calm yourself down, this is something new you're doing. Remember that guys like variety so if you don't dance just like the other girls it can work to your advantage sometimes!
As for moves....well those are things you'll have to pick up at your club! Most of the time the girls will help you out by showing you some of the easier spins and crawling techniques! good luck and let us know how it goes!
