It's easier on your feet then waitressing... for me at least... you get to sit down to talk to customers or whenever you want. Try a warm soak in epsome (sp) salts.

The stick on grips are available at walgreens in the shoe/foot section. So are cushy gel insoles. The grips aren't all that fabulous in my experience, but the gel insoles help alot!

You can also buy the grips at shoe stores (payless always has them.)

Make sure to get or give yourself a pedicure as often as you can. And when you dance, wear platforms, not stilettos. They are much more comfortable than you think... And soaking in epsom salt when you get home is good of course, too.

As a dancer you really don't spend a lot of time on your feet. I sit on my butt most of the time with customers. I honestly don't know how you waitresses do your job!!!

Epsiom salt soaks work well. So does wintergreen alcohol. Put the Alcohol in a spray bottle and spray on your feet during work. The alcohol will take the heat, sting, and alot of the pain out of your feet quick.

What kind of shoes are you wearing to work? I'm a cocktail waitress in a pretty busy club and my feet never hurt...haha. Now sprained wrists on the other hand... o_O

Sleep with your legs and feet elevated (like on top of a few pillows.)

When you do your daily Epsom Salt foot soak, make the water HOT. Gradually dip your tootsies into the hot salted water. (I did this for months, from working in a tropical climate and having my feet mangled from infection and work. Stripper Trench Foot LOL)

Wear some comfy shoes, even if they look dorky.

Can't hurt to try IcyHot, Never was digging the strong smell though.

Maybe Arnica cream on feet? People use it for bruises but it might work for blisters and soreness.

I wear Lycra and spandex leggings sometimes- I have noticed people who work on their feet get varicose veins & such. That's why little old ladies wear control hose. Working out can help prevent this, from getting your blood circulated and your muscles flexed.

God, my legs and feet HURT REALLY BAD! I was gonna start a thread but then saw this one... dur. Yea, so, Aleve helps too... Icy hot bugs me cuz it burns and stinks. My mom gets this target brand stuff that doesn't smell or burn... Just look in Target by the Icy Hot, I guess. I just always steal hers.

When I went with the Belles to dance camp, we totally lived on IcyHot! I don't like the smell, and the burn can be a little intense at times- but it really does help! When I messed up my knee I used it in small amounts, too- helped to numb the constant pain. If you can get past the smell, I'd give it a try!

whatever you do, don't put on too much icyhot. One day I asked my b/f to rub some on my back but he wasn't really careful how much he GLOBBED on and about 2 minutes later I was in the shower trying to make the burning stop (by the way, the shower doesn't help....kinda makes it worse).

does anyone know good alternatives to icyhot that don't smell, aside from the target stuff already mentioned?

I've tried the SportsCream stuff, but I found that it didn't work nearly as well as IcyHot. It doesn't have the smell or the burn, though.
