    Default cellphone for work?

I decided to get a pay-as-you-go cell phone for work because i have gotten a ton of requests lately for my number for my schedule.

But now im trying to find the best plan/deal. Anyone have any advice on this?

Which plan works best will depend upon how much you use it and what part of the country you live in.

I have a Simple Freedom pre-paid (uses ALLTEL's network) that you can buy at pretty much any Wal-Mart or K-Mart for about $70. 25 cents a minute local, 50 cents for roaming, no contract, minutes have a 60 day service period, but rollover if you refill your phone before they expire.

Its a good option if Alltel has local coverage in your area, which by their map looks like 99% of Florida.

I was considering this, too. But here is a question:

If somebody tries to trace back the cell phone number, and I bought the phone on a credit card, will they be able to trace the phone back to my real name and address?

Pay-as-you-go (Prepaid) doesn't have a credit card attached unless you want it to.
You can just buy off the shelf and pay in cash. Go to Target

Any information that you give is private and can not be given out without your permission. (Anyone that would need it for good reason would have a warrant.) If they did, you've got a healthy lawsuit.

Go to best buy and get the virgin mobile one, you can buy more minutes from the store with no name/credit card attachements.

I'm a SC customer... I bought a Tracfone last week expressly for my SC adventures. So far I'm happy with it. I chose Tracfone becuz I noticed several dancers in my area - north Texas and Oklahoma have them.

I see you're in FL but I believe Tracfone is nationwide as they purchase time from other carriers as needed. The phones are widely available - drug chains, C-Stores, other retailers. Check out their website.

My purchase was via cash. I'm sure you know this but keep in mind a cell phone is like a GPS and if the phone is turned on authorities can (I've read) track you to some detail - in case you have ideas about using it for anything too illegal.

No... if you make a call, they can tell what tower you connected to, though...
