    Default Social reaction from dancing

Just thought I would share this tid bit with you guys. Has anyone else been through the same sort of thing? Today I went to see about purchasing a new car. Of course I have no choice in this situation but to be honest about my employment. He couldn't give me enough money for my trade-in and I disagreed on a sale. As I was leaving he said to me and my friend who was with me, also an entertainer, "I'll see if I can get up to see you ladies sometime". I'll probably be pretty cheap since I didn't make any money today". I said to him, "Don't bother" and left. Don't you think that was inappropriate for him to make that comment? I mean if I was a porn star would he have asked when can I watch you fuck?

What a jackass. I'd have told him I expected him to be cheap, since his being cheap is why he didn't make any money in the first place. I might've also added something about having to deal with enough broke jackasses without needing another one hanging around.

    What a prick.

This happened to me ONCE... I wrote a letter. Then I got a phone call from the general manager who gave me a great deal on a car.

Seems like alot of people automatically want to screw over a stripper because they think we make soooooo much money and will just pay whatever they say

Yeah, I got figuratively screwed on a car deal because I had no choice but tell where I was getting my cash income from.
(Oh well. The dealer probably sweated bullets after I told him my crazy brother was in the auto-transport haul biz and would probably pop in to see him.....LOL.)

    ^^yes lol madmaxine....

Yes that was out of line of him as a professional. Just plain rude. You should say something to the GM...make a phone call or like Gynger write a letter.
I mean if anyone is smart enough they know good business also spurs from word of mouth. He was just pissy b/c he didnt get a sale and shouldnt have acted so ass-hatty.

Yea, you'd better report that guy. I told the woman when I was applying for an apartment, and she didn't get a friggin' boner. GEEZ! I'll bet he sexually harrasses the women he works with. Jerk.

I went into a car lot and wanted to look at a car that was up on the ramps. The dealer just said "well, I will have to see if someone will get the car down for you". One of the mechinacs came out and said "Are you really sure you want the car down?" I told them both that I wanted the car down. The dealer just kept trying to point me to cheaper, 4 door cars. I also had 2 of my kids with me. I looked at the dealer and said "I want the car down to look at it. I am not interested in any of the other cars." By this time I was really pissed off. The dealer looked at the mechinac and told him to get it down. They get it down and I look at the car inside and out for almost 45 minutes. Had the dealer get out the mantaince records for the car and went around the car making sure that the things that the papers said was new was really new.
After taking up probably 3 hours of the dealers time. I looked at him and smiled. I then reached into my purse and pulled out the cash for the car. I told him in front of the other dealers, "I would have bought the car if you went so judgemental. Just because I have 2 children with me and have blue jeans and a t-shirt on dosen't mean that I don't have the money. Maybe this has taught you a lesson." I turned around while his face was still red and his chin was on the ground and walked right out the dealership.

The whole car buying experience sucks! And it's not just women in adult entertainment. I have to sigh before I say this because I hate that it's even necessary, but whatever gets results. As this article points out, some women still take a guy along with them when shopping for a car as a shield from the attitudes of far too many salesmen who believe women customers can and should be taken advantage of. Even so, I've had a few guys admit to me that they, too, can be victims of salesmen's fast-talking tricks. Some guys don't do their homework and are mesmerized by the car and/or deal.

I haven't had a car salesmen overtly drool so far, but let me recount some of the common tricks they tried to play. The information in Consumer Reports is wrong, one salesman told me. Yes, I thought, they don't include the price of the bridge you're trying to sell me with the car. When I was negotiating the price of a new car that had been sitting on the lot for six months, the salesman pointed out that the price of the same model rolling off the truck today was $500 higher. WTF? I'm not negotiating for one that cost you $500 more, am I? And of course, the old "I'll have to talk to my manager about your offer" while they go grab a cup of coffee instead. Again WTF? You have to run to your manager, little boy? Why not ask your mommy? Are you not an authorized salesmen who knows what's what? And do you really think I'm naive enough to think that you, a commissioned employee, are representing my best interests in some sort of negotiation with your boss? Think I'll try that one on my custy some time. A blow job? Well, I'll be right back after I talk to my manager. Well, darn it, I tried to convince him but he said no, but he did say I could give you a very sexy lapdance within the club rules for the money.

Really, one of my tricks is that I can be very indecisive. Much like a strip club customer who wastes my time. It's actually a natural state for me, but I've learned to harness it as a strategy for car buying. I just stand there stewing in my indecisiveness after my offer is countered. Well, I dunno. Pause. Wait. Nothing. Blank stares. No attempt to come to a decision. Salesmen cannot stand that! You act indecisive long enough and they have to do or say something, usually to your benefit. (Just the opposite of what a customer would get from a dancer in a similar situation at the club. "Okay, check you later!")

I always make sure I research the sh*t out of the cars in my range. Gotta love that Consumer Reports car info. Even though their reports and web database cost money to use (they don't accept advertising so they can't be bought off), it's worth it because it's saved me hundreds of dollars and lots of headaches from buying a model with a bad repair record.

I've never had that happen to me. I've bought several of my cars by myself...

The problem I had was when I was taking my car to the mechanics shop of the dealership (I was 21). I needed some stuff done on my Ford Probe and after 2 hours of waiting and being talked to condescendingly by the "head mechanic", they handed me the keys to my car. I was charged for a bunch of "extra stuff" that they said they did...but couldn't produce the old stuff in place of the new stuff. I even pulled some stuff out, right in front of them, that they said they replaced, but they clearly didn't. The guy's face went pale when he realized that I knew about cars and engines. They, obviously, went back and replaced everything...but I made them take the stuff they were originally dishonest about do it free of charge. I also pitched a fit until the manager came out and bitched to him, who in turn got the GM (who just happened to be getting ready to leave for lunch). I ended up getting all kinds of free Ford stuff (jacket, cup holder, etc). They also gave me free oil changes for the rest of the time I had my car.

Never, ever let anyone try to pull anything over on you. Never, ever let someone talk down to you. Never, ever allow another person take advantage of you. And, dammit, complain to the higher ups if they do.

Whenever Scorpio goes to buy a car, he takes a red sharpie marker with him. He used to be a sales manager at a dealership, so he knows all of the ins and outs of sales (BTW...the tactic you explained is done so the manager can look at his selling quote and see how much they have to play with). As soon as the salesman goes back to the manager with Scorpio's "cross-over offer", the manager usually comes out and deals with Scorpio himself. LOL

I've heard that women are notoriously better informed (about pricing) and much harder sells when they buy new cars (skeptical shoppers), making them far less desirable for car sales people to deal with. This may be a myth, I have no idea. Might also be the reason women get hassled more for overpriced add-ons. [VG ...true?]

A male friend of mine with a fetish for buying new cars (seems like one every 15 minutes) tells me he can no longer stand to hear a salesman say "What can I do to get you into this car today?" He responds by very seriously telling the salesman, "Strip naked and do 50 jumping jacks on the hood of the car." As he tells it, one actually got down to his skivies and tried to cut a deal, but not a single one went full monty. It could be a bullshit story, but I like it. And wtf, it's actually semi-relevant here.

Hmmm smaller scale, same bullshit. I use to hate going to 7-11 in Vancouver. It was always a sleazy young India Indian guy working, at any given 7-11 in Vancouver who would always stare you up and down and lick his fucking lips while ringing up my red bull and power bar. It seriously pissed me off that I couldn't go to a fucking 7-11 without getting hit on by a seriously disgusting mother fucker. I started being as rude and bitchy as humanly possible when I had to go there and that seemed to curb the bullshit.

I'm a big supporter of writing letters. You can send it to the dealership's GM yourself. For othr times when this happens, go to www.planetfeedback.com. They help you write a letter that gets sent to the head of the company, and it has always worked well for me...

OMG. i would've been so pissed. I don't know what i would've done, did that girl have a good comeback?

Oh and as for the radioshack thing, i haven't done anything yet. but i have to go back in on friday to pay my bill so if it happens again i'll write down his name and contact the company. I forgot his name, or i would've already complained.

The content in your posts is making me very angry, and I'm not even the one who had to go through it all!!

The first time that I bought a car, I went with my dad. I was 18 years old and had no clue how to "haggle." I was stupid in the sense that I told the car salesman not only that I was a stripper, but also HOW MUCH I AVERAGED. He used this against me. For some reason, at the time, I figured that it would make me look like a better customer. (don't ask) lol. The salesman went so far as to say he USED to be a stripper. I"m guessing he said that in order to make it seem as though we were on the same sort of "level." (you know, in the sales books, they all say to find something that you have in common with your client). He tried to pull many other tricks, and I'm sure he would've tried even MORE had my father not been there.

Next time, I'll be ready to deal with it. There are some GREAT sites on the internet to look at for buying a car.

    Some of the sites include:

    www.carbuyingtips.com
and you can google "confessions of a car salesman" since there are many dif. articles that have the same title

I think that my dad being a used car salesman is what makes me such a great stripper! Everything I know about sales I must have inherited from him. I use to hang out on the car lot as a little kid and listen to my dad haggle, and now I can sell snow to an eskimo and sand to an egyptian!

Okay - this might sound weird, but was he really being rude, or was he just goofing off? I've had guys say that to me, and sometimes they are trying to be really obnoxious, but sometimes they are interested in seeing me (like as customers) in a perfectly polite way. I mean, ladies -e that doesn't excuse disco for a living, and while that doesn't excuse discourtesy, it certainly will excite interest. Like the guy could be looking at you and thinking, wow she is really pretty, and she probably wouldn't agree to go out with me, or let me touch her or anything - but hey. For 20 bucks? Yeah, I want in on that.
The guy from radio shack asks what you do for a living? And he needs to know this why? Next time someone who doesn't need to know that asks, ask them what the hell do they even care?

Er.. uh.. ouch. Better luck next time. On the bright side, I assume by this story that you have a dad who is cool with your being a stripper. That's a rare and valuable commodity.

Oh, I almost forgot the ultimate revenge at the car dealership. Haggling like a tightwad to lock in the best deal possible and then responding to the salesman's inquiry that you'll be paying for it on the spot without financing! You'd have thought I had shot the salesman by the stunned look on his face. That's because he saw all that $$$ in financing charges he was automatically counting on go flying out the window. Ha! Baby girl didn't look like she had it, did she? If you ever can do this, never ever tell them in advance that you are going to pay cash or they won't go down much (a typical problem I have with men ).
