    Default cramps

I'm getting ready to go to the beach with a friend this upcoming weekend. I have a feeling that I'm going to get my lovely period at that time . Besides taking Midol and using those Thermacare pads, does anyone have any other suggestions on how to NOT feel like crap. I usually get killer cramps and my mood becomes sour.

Usually, I just sit at home as long as I can with a heating pad and drug myself with Midol. Too many Midol, however, can make me feel groggily. I don't want to feel that way walking on the boardwalk. I also don't want to spend the weekend with my friend (who hasn't been to the beach in about 3 years) laying in bed, feeling like crap, and, in general, bringing down the whole mood of the trip.

Also, has anyone heard of taking Midol a couple of days BEFORE your period? Once, I almost fainted when I was having severe cramps. I got rushed to the hospital and right before I left, the nurse told me to take Midol a couple of days before my period started...

Pamprin & Advil work well with me. But best bet is to do what the nurse told you to do.

I too suffer from cramps that bad, but i'm going to start taking BC pills & hopefully have things tame down.

    Good luck.

I had a friend that was like this- she would be to the point of tears at times when she had cramps. I've had them nearly that bad, but it's only once in a while when that happens.

I know that for my bud, BC pills helped. She said she could tell the difference afterward, and I'm going to look into that, too.

In the meantime, though- do the Midol/Pamprin thing, and pack a ton of the ThermaCare pads (I love those!). I know for me personally working out or just getting up and moving around is a big helper- the more I just "sit", the worse it gets.

Good luck, hun! I hope you have an awesome time at the beach!

I remember hearing somewhere that making sure you're properly hydrating helps ease stuff, as well. Other than that and the above mentioned things, I'm not much help... sorry.

Believe it or not exercise helps cramps. Try walking around for awhile and I think you'll notice a difference

I thought i had the worst cramps in the world, every time i think, this is the worst time ever! I use advil and pambrin(for the water retention). Midol sucks because if you look at the ingredients you are paying way more for small doses of tylenol, or tylenol with pambrin. I don't know why but advil and naproxin sodium (alieve) seem to work better on this kind of pain for me. Drink lots of water, excersize and try to limit your caffeine as it will increase swelling and pain in your breasts. I went to my dr. and he prescribed muscle relaxers, which totally help, but i can only take them when im at home or doing something liesurely as I will almost always knockout after only one pill.

Go to a local drug store or health supplement store and get some water pills. Take them 10 days prior to your period start date. Regularly doing Yoga or simply streaching your muscles will help. I take aleve and it seems to help also.
