    Default um...sorta nasty...(disgusting)

how long does diarreah last? is there any quicker way to make it go away? i'm supposed to go on vacation this weekend, and i'm really worried...i feel stupid telling the person i'm going with that i have diarreah...therefore, i told him that i keep throwing up..not too much better, but still. any at home remedies?

i know that people say to take immodium or pepto bismal, but how exactly does that work? does it prevent the symptoms completely? will it come out some other way (if you get my drift)? will it just hold off the symptoms until i stop taking it? or should i just let it run its course?

You can also try looking it up on the web, there is so much info out there. Good luck!

Immodium works wonders. I can't remember any side effects from the few times I've had to take it; it just stops the diarrhea. The last time I had to take it, I was in college and kept having to run out of class, LOL! A few minutes after I took the Immodium, I was fine.

Well, it depends on WHY you have diahrrea. Is it something you're eating? Do you have the intestinal flu? The worst thing about diahrrea is that you can become severely dehydrated quite quickly. Eat lots of fiber-y fruits drink plenty of water. I know it seems like it'd be going in one end and quickly out the other, but you need to stay hydrated. I'd say that if you are not sick and have diahrrea for more than 2-3 days, you should go see a doctor because there is something else going on there.

i actually went to see a doctor the day after the night i got it...she said that i had a small bug. she said it should be going away soon..and it DOES appear to be less frequent...but it's still not completely gone.

take immodium. i've never had an side effects and it works like magick. it's amazing. i think what it does is condense your stool, so the flood stops.

here's their website. i highly reccomend it.

Immodium is the way to go. I've taken that when I've had to work with those "problems". Wait until about 8 hours before you leave to take it, because I have had some constipation problems if I take it to often

If you have a "bug" your doc may have advised against taking anything to stop the diaherra, let it run its course. Remember the sooner it all "gets out" the better you'll feel. When you take stuff to stop it, your actaully keeping the disease in your body longer. Try old school gatorade and dry toast.

True as much as you hate having this problem right now, it has to run it's course. You say it's getting better. I firmly believe the best way to help this "bug" run it's course, is to drink Gatorade, and plenty of water too. Gatorade, wil help replenish the body with vital nutrients, while water will keep you hydrated AND flush out you're system!!!

I agree with everything mentioned about staying hydrated and eating that is very important, so you will not get too dehydrated or weak. You will feel better soon.

Okay, this may sound totally wierd, but it worked for me when I had a bad bout--- Coconut macaroons.
I read somewhere that it worked, and out of desparation, I munched a third of a box, and was fine. I was also drinking pedailyte for dehydration.
Of course, it could've been totally psychosomatic, or just run it's course by then.

Bananas also help to keep your tummy at bay. But follow the water and hydrating advice given here.. or you'll be sick again from lack of hydration.
