    Default Southern Rock

I'm trying to find good music to dance to that will fit my "stripper persona"... I personally like everything from classic rock to rap but prefer hip-hop. Still, no one wants to dance to the "Hustle & Flow" soundtrack, so I'm trying to find something that will match better with a Southern girl who looks like me and calls herself Dixie and goes around in lace and softness. I love "Sweet Home Alabama" but can't find anything to go with it. Suggestions?

And how many songs are usually in a set, two or three? How many sets do you do per night?

Two songs a set minimum, usually cut to 3 minutes per song in high-hustle clubs. More laid back clubs have longer sets.

I recommend some of the trance-y re-mixes of Sarah MacLauglan's songs...for the ethereal flair and femme spell. I am not familiar with Southern Gothic music, but I'm sure it's out there!

    *sigh* Memories....

"Sweet Home Alabama" was one of my nightly numbers for a long time...

I highly recommend that you find yourself a copy of the compilation CDs entitled "Goin' South". There are two of them, of which I am aware. Easily found at WalMart for a song.

Personally, I recommend doing "Keep Your Hands To Yourself" (Georgia Satellites) and "Trudy" (Charlie Daniels) with it. Or you could take a slightly different approach, and instead use a more obscure theme of Van Zandt brothers... make it a set of Lynyrd Skynyrd and .38 Special. Good .38 Special songs are "Fade To Blue", "Twentieth Century Fox", "Hold On Loosely", "Caught Up iN You", and "Back Where You Belong". (There are others, but those are some fairly easy ones).

Avoid "Black Betty" (Ram Jam) like the plague unless you are an absolute expert.

Now for all lace and softness, you can roll with Skynyrd's "Tuesday's Gone", throw in some "Dog & Butterfly" (Heart), go old-school country with "The Highwayman" (Waylon, Willie, Johnny, and Kris)... the possibilities are endless.

If a dancer ever brought up "Whippin' Post" by the Allman Brothers, I'd throw her a 20. "Sweet Melissa" is kinda pretty.
